This place was not too far from my hotel. The decor was nice it had a mirror ceiling which was fun. The staff was very friendly and spoke English which helped even though we were trying to practice our poor French our server was very nice about it. Hands down the best mojito I have had. One of the popular cafes to hang out by the Eiffel Tower. We've just gotten here and needed some sustenance. Most of the cafes around here were super crowded, inside and out, and tons of smoking. Le Coq was one of the cafes that wasn't overly crowded. We were seated right away and they did check our Health Pass before we went in. Finally, food! I had to order the escargot and the Croque Monsieur, make that two Croques! The ambiance was really nice, everyone looks dressed up but that's just how Parisians dress! Love it! We just got off the plane, checked into our hotel, and just pooped and needed food. Hospitality was great and they made sure we were taken care of, food and drink. The escargot was delicious along with the little bread sticks. My partner loved the Croque so did I, but since I got motion sickness earlier, the smell of cheese was a bit pungent for my nose at the moment. Le Coq has a crazy nice decor with a ton of very nice outdoor seating options. This place is located near the Trocadero which is cool because it's on your way to see the tower. I would classify this place as a bit more upscale the most of the casual dining options. The outdoor seating was nice, a bit too many smokers and the meal served was easy on the eyes and delicious to the taste. Ordered the shrimp risotto which was portioned correctly and pretty good along with the cucumber carpaccio which was delicious! They also have a couple of awesome desserts that are worthy of trying. My first dining experience in Paris! Gosh it was great! Smack in the area of the Eiffel Tower. The services was wonderful. To my fellow Americans, don't worry the servers speak English and they also provide an English menu upon request. There is an outdoor area if you'd like to people watch while dining. But keep in mind the French smoke a lot so there will be someone smoking out there. Nothing was at all rushed. We enjoyed a three course meal bite by bite. We started with chicken rolls before diving into our main course. The main course came out about maybe 25-30mins after our appetizers were cleared. Don't dine in Paris with an American attitude. Clearly it's about the art of dining in this city. For dessert I went with the macaroon with pistachio and raspberry, my partner had the crackers cheesecake. Both were mouth watering delicious. The whole experience was roughly 2hrs and it could be a little more if we wanted to. Now if you're on a budget we paid $138euro total. If that's go high up on your budget don't worry there are plenty of places near by. read more

We had dinner at Le Coq our final night in Paris because I was dying for something "healthy" and our hotel conceirge recommended it. We had looked at their menu a few days earlier and I decided I could do Le Coq so off we went. We were promptly sat at a small round table just on the other side of their glass walled patio space filled with about 300 smokers. Our waitress was not friendly, nor was she prompt, but I've been led to understand this is common in Europe. I ordered a starter of green beans with balsamic and some mushrooms and tomatoes. The beans were cold but it was very good and I devoured it because I was in need of something green in my life after all the bread and meat I'd been eating. I ordered the salmon with a side salad as my entree while my husband ordered the penne pasta. My salmon was good and the side salad was huge and tossed in a vinaigrette dressing so I enjoyed more greens! Our waitress brought bread once we had ordered and it was OK but it wasn't the best bread I've ever had. The pace of our meal was slow and it took a long time to get the check. The food wasn't bad - in fact it was some of the most healthy we'd had in all of Paris - but the service wasn't good at all - her attitude was poor - she was slow - and just overall we didn't feel welcomed here. Perhaps because we're American or perhaps it's just the cultural difference between service in the US and in Europe. Who knows - either way - we paid and got out. I'd eat here again if I was in Paris and nearby because their menu options are good for my diet - but it wasn't fabulous by any means. I think it's more of a hotspot night spot for drinkers and smokers. After a week in Rome eating at some small hole in the wall restaurant that had 5k+ reviews with food that I would have considered to be Michelin star rated for me and the wife, we on average paid under $50, we finally arrived in the beautiful city of Paris and headed out for dinner and saw this restaurant as we were walking near the Eiffel Tower so we gave it a shot despite the 3 star review (at the time (11/09/22) and boy this was a massive let down. We ordered the Grilled Sea Bass and Steak with Fries. The Sea bass looks just like the pictures posted by another person on here but had almost no flavor or seasoning and instead had a small saucer of Lemon Butter which tasted good but putting a sauce on something with hardly any flavor is bot going to make a huge difference. As for the steak, this was ordered with a medium heat like it should be and the delivery on this was also horrible. First off, the meat that is being served was extremely low quality, not to mention mostly fat. The steak was tough and cooked with hardly any seasoning so the meat was super dry and hard to eat, think beef jerky. The service was decent but not great but I can't complain, the server came to the table at least 3 times in the 1.5hrs we were in the restaurant to check on us but there was really nothing we can do at this point and honestly I am not prepared to complain about food that isn't up to par and then hang out to let them try again, not trying to have spit in my food. From the reviews in Paris, this restaurant is probably only popular because of the aesthetics of how it looks which lets them get away with charging $100 (that included a tip) for two people with extremely poor food. Will definitely not return and plan better for any other meal. If this place got it together with a proper chef it could be amazing due to the 5min walk to see the Eiffel Tower with unobstructed views. read more

Never have I disagreed as much with my fellow Yelpers as I have with any reviewer's review of Le Coq that is less than four stars. Le Coq is situated in perhaps the best area to view the Eiffel--day or night (Trocadero). At first I thought Le Coq would be a tourist trap because of its location. But instead I found Le Coq to be a first rate restaurant with great service an staff nestled is the tony neighborhood of Trocadero. Le Coq is not a brasserie. Our meal consisted of asparagus with truffle oil, strings beans with an amazing dressing and an Argentinian beef steak with a side of mashed potatoes. The food was excellent in preparation, presentation and taste. I ordered a 2012 Bordeaux from Margaux that was spectacular in both taste and price. I can't for the likes of me remember the vineyard but I did a quick tableside search and found that the restaurant marked-up the wine 1x. Considering that the prior's night meal consisted of a wine marked-up 6x, Le Coq offered a true value. Very pretty decor, very Pink. We got in Paris late and I was ready for a French dinner. After checking into the hotel, we walked to this restaurant hoping that it's not closed yet. We got there around 10pm but they were still open. We ordered appetizers expecting that they would be small portions. We were so wrong. Each appetizer, at least what we ordered, were not small at all. they were almost the same size as entrees, and it really filled me up before the entree. We ordered Vegetable Casserole and Artichoke Salad for appetizers. The casserole was more like Pot-au-Feu. So big but so good. The salad was also delicious. For the main, we had Veal Steak and Lobster Risotto. The risotto was so delicious and had full of flavor of lobster in every bite. A tiny pasta also came with the veal dish. Their rolls/breads were very good, but their butter was incredible. I was already full after finishing the appetizer, but I had to eat this tiny piece of bread since i only had 1.5 days to stay in Paris this time. There would not be another time in a while. A couple of glasses of Chablis helped me finish the whole meal. Since there were many sweet shops and cafes in Paris, I decided not to have a dessert here. I'm giving Le Coq two stars because some folks in my party enjoyed the food. My personal experience was closer to 1 star. We were a group of 10, and they did a decent job of accommodating such a large party. We came here primarily because they have a large outdoor space. Do not come here if you want an authentic French experience. As others have mentioned, this is a tourist trap. The food isn't remotely French. It's kind of sort of American. But, even just judging Le Coq on the quality of the food served (never mind what the food is), this place was decidedly subpar. Ordering food at this restaurant turned into a multi-part saga. Part 1: Four out of the ten of us ordered steaks - three got the Argentinian rib steak, and one got the filet. Instead, the waitstaff brought out 2 of each (so the order was incorrect). Furthermore, all of the steaks were overdone. Two of us decided to stick it out and eat what we were given, but two people sent their steaks back. The waitstaff was clearly unhappy with this turn of events. Part 2: The steaks we sent back returned. We barely had to cut into them to realize they were raw. Of course we had to send them back AGAIN - they were inedible - and the waitstaff was visibly angry at this point. Part 3: The steaks returned for a final time, cooked to a point of doneness heretofore unimagined. Much worse than the first iteration. My partner couldn't eat his - it was that bad. So, come to Le Coq if you want a touristy experience with irritable waitstaff and mediocre food. To be fair, as I said at the outset, some in our group did enjoy what they got. The fish dishes seem to be safer options than the steak. Overall, would not recommend though. read more

We went here based on a recommendation from a friend in Dublin and needless to say had high expectation. Asian fusion meant I was expecting the nice pungent Asian flavours mixed with delicate French flavours and unfortunately this place did not deliver on both fronts. Expensive place for an ordinary menu. Everything was average and there was ZERO wow factor unfortunately. The place is gorgeous, chic and trendy. The wait staff dressed impeccably and service was good. Beyond that the menu looked extremely unattractive and the satay sauce that I was served with my tuna tasted like curry sauce you get with your chips at many places in England. The dessert of creme caramel was huge enough for 4 people. It tasted ok but nothing to write home about. I have had way better for a lot less in Paris. Won't be rushing back here again. read more

Food: The profiterole is huuuuuge, and is really worth its €12. Chocolate is perfect, vanilla ice cream has a very delicate flavor and the chou seems homemade. Loved it - and I'm a profiterole connoisseur, so trust me and go for it (sharing might be a good idea...) Place: Nice! More fashionable than elegant, but definitely cosy. Service: Good point: we weren't pressed to leave as soon as we finished, which was nice in such a place (although on a Sunday afternoon it was quite empty, which might explain this kindness). I came here 6 years ago and have been craving it ever since. I was at the Eiffel Tower and it started to pour rain with very cold and hard winds. We went to find shelter and ran into this restaurant by coincidence. Boy was I lucky!! Since it was cold, I decided to try the French onion soup. It was excellent.
