We haven't been back since our disappointing experience last time but decided to give it a try again and we also took our 2 kids (age 10 and 8) there this time for their winter restaurant week. Their restaurant week menu was one of the most affordable and worth going for in the city, it was $60 for a 3 course meal and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion that was given. We were also given 4 choices to choose from for the 1st and 2nd course while some may have additional supplemental costs. I opted for the Maine scallops as my first course and the scallops were big, aromatic, and cooked to perfection. The acid from the orange reduction helped lightened the dish making it the perfect starter course. My son ordered the cured hamachi and even though it didn't work out very well last time I had that dish, I noticed a subtle difference this time and the citrus broth was much more flavorful this time. My daughter ordered their heirloom beet salad which is beautifully plated. It was almost too pretty to eat. The beets were fresh and it was delicious when paired with the creamy Burrata. I think I loved the beet salad the most and would definitely order it again. I ordered the pork tenderloin for my second course. The meat was tender, juice, and cooked to a perfect medium which is how I like it. However, I did find the sauce a little too salty when eaten alone but was perfect when eaten with the apple as the acid helped balance out the saltiness. I just wish there's 1 more slice of apple instead of one. My kids ordered their salmon which both of them enjoyed very much. The salmon was moist, tender, buttery but I just wish the skin was crispier. To my surprise, both of them said the highlight was the broccolini which unfortunately I didn't get to try because both of them devoured everything before I got to it. For the dessert, I ordered the hazelnut mousse tarte. Their desserts were always well executed and this is no exception. I really enjoyed the combination of flavors and balance of textures. The hazelnut's richness was balanced out by the bergamot creme and vice versa so it wasn't too sweet or too sour. The tarte itself was crunchy and flaky, which I enjoyed eating against the mushy mousse. We also received much better service this time. Our servers took their time to explain each dish to us and they were definitely more attentive compared to last time. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience this time and am glad they've improved which the last time we went. First of all, I love all the greenery. I think it was fake but I loved the vibe, very fresh and... garden-like! The service was excellent. Our waitstaff was very attentive and I never ran out of water. Our main server was sometimes hard to track down but the rest were on top of it! We did a prix fixe and four course menu. The prix fixe seemed like it was made for my palate with fresh fish, lots of veg, and carrot cake. There were too many dishes to name individually but here are some thoughts: --presentation was spot on! Gorgeous plates. --I ate the first anchovy I've ever liked here in an amuse. Came here for dinner on Friday during NYC Restaurant Week. The place was exactly what we were looking for... Elegant, romantic, and lush atmosphere! The place was less busy. The service and food were amazing! The food was fresh and came out fast. We started our meal with a refreshing amuse-juice. The Maine scallops were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The Heirloom Beet Salad had a good mix of flavors. The Carolina Gold Rice Risotto was hearty and satisfying. The berries gave the dessert a fresh taste and kept it from feeling too heavy. Their menu offers a variety of choices, including options that are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. Highly recommend for a Michelin quality lunch (or dinner, but I had lunch). We got the 3 course pre-fixe lunch option (winter lunch menu), but I will say, the portions are filling so we could've gotten away with just 2 for lunch (but no regrets). Service was excellent and the space was lovely. We each started with the Beef Tartare & the Yellowtail -- wow. The tartare was very elegant and had a cohesive creaminess to it that really brought it together. The Tuna was in a citrus/orange broth that was really flavorful and complimented the tuna rolls exceptionally well. Would get both of these again, no question. We then moved on to the Ricotta Agnolotti & the Scallops. The Agnolotti had notes of squash in the broth and foam, so good this time of year. The Scallops were probably the best scallops I've ever had ... you have to get this. Also with notes of squash in the sauce, the scallops were cooked to perfection and accompanied with a whipped potato element that was so tasty. Then we moved on to the entree course with the Steelhead Trout & the Lobster Bisque. Again, personally we probably could've stopped at this point, but I'm glad we didn't for the Bisque ... this thing is filled with Lobster and had one of the best bisque's that I've ever had -- exceptional, but very filling so be warned. We love this place so much that we visit every time we come to NYC. There are tons of amazing restaurants in New York and many with Michelin stars, but none as wonderful on every level as Le Jardinier! A few things set this Michelin starred restaurant apart: 1. The service is the best! We met David last night and he was delightful. He gave us some recommendations for other places to try, which was nice. Our favorite staff member came by a few times to chat. She's the sweetest! Everyone makes you feel welcomed. 2. The chef is more than happy to accommodate for dietary restrictions even when choosing the 6 course tasting menu, which you should choose! They make their own amazing gluten-free bread. It's better than anywhere else! The adjustments to the menu do not take anything away from the amazing experience. 3. The food is just so good! Everything is cooked to perfection and the accompaniments layer the flavors so well. Try a complete bite of every dish. While this is a beautiful, high-end establishment, it's not stuffy at all. For a party of 6, each with different dietary restrictions and various asks--two vegetarian and a vegan), one person only drinking not dining, three people who wanted to order the RW menu while two wanted to order only a la carts--they were able to accommodate everything we asked for. Service was nearly seamless. I was most impressed by their sommelier's recommendations, from sparkling to red, he had us covered. Upon walking in, you get the sense that this is a midtown business lunch/dinner spot, and it probably is to a degree, but it's still a great place for group that's a little more casual in intention. In terms of ambiance, the only thing I wish is that they had some very light music going, classical, maybe some light jazz, or melodic EDM, I think that would really ratchet it up to a perfect environment. The food was good. The portion sizes are definitely small. The saffron risotto was good, but just a touch bland; I think it could have benefited from a dash of lemon or salt, but I feel that way from a lot of risotto, so that's likely just my preference. I found the triangoli subtle and flavorful. Regardless, everything feels and tastes fresh and the Gardener's influence is certainly felt. Visited again for RW lunch. The food still didn't disappoint, it was just $45 per person which can't be beat! Most of the dishes I had were the same as last time with the same quality, especially the risotto which continues to be my favorite one of the bunch. Le Jardinier is a beautiful vibey spot. I came here for restaurant week and we were seated upstairs. The menu featured an appetizer, main, and dessert for $65 a person. Personally I was the most excited to try the appetizers but wasn't too blown away by them. The burrata was fresh but a little light in seasoning for me and the pork belly felt a bit thick. However, the salmon was phenomenal. I love a restaurant that doesn't overcook their fish and the combination with the texture provided by the roe was excellent. My sister, who's generally a bit of a pickier eater, even loved it too. The desserts were also yum. The cremeux featured four different layers including caramel and ice cream which was a nice surprise. Overall the food was pretty good but definitely on the pricier side. We walked in off the street. The atmosphere and service was outstanding. Not knowing anything about the restaurant I was taken aback by the prices but decided to treat ourselves. We went for the 3 course meal (app, entree and dessert) We were treated so well and each dish we ate was better than the next. I'm 60 years old and had some superior steaks in my life but the Wagyu Babette was the finest tasting steak I have ever tasted in my life. I completely understood the price once I settled in to the most delicious culinary experience. The presentation, the taste, the service were all second to none. The price was steep but completely justified. It was only when I left and looked up Le Jardinier that I realized it was a Michelin star rated restaurant, which made complete sense. Easily one of the best meals I have had since the full reopening of restaurants post pandemic. I revisited many restaurants to compare their pre pandemic quality to what it is now. Sadly too many restaurants I liked during pre pandemic times have been disappointing post pandemic, understandably so due to inflation/limited availability of ingredients, but happy to say this restaurant was not one of them! My recent dining experience was reminiscent of my meals at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon New York, but much less pretentious. I don't know if veterans from Robuchon's restaurants that worked here back in 2019 are still around today, but from the flavors profiles of the amuse bouche to every dish I ate, they were still very balanced even with the tweaks made on the spot (I didn't call in advance to discuss) for my food sensitivities and an beef allergy. No flavor overpowered another just because of a removed or a substitute ingredient. I have been to higher price point fine dining places that were much less accommodating, especially if you didn't call in advance to discuss the menu items you want to eat. As someone of both East Asian and South East Asian descent, my diet has always been more vegetable focused, which is this restaurant's concept, but not close to the point of veganism. I like bold SE Asian flavors but I still want my dishes to remain very light like East Asian cuisine. My favorite cuisines are French and Japanese; this restaurant has a fusion of flavors that pays homage to those cuisines very well. Both the waiter and waitress were respectful of table space. If they see that your plate is empty but you're still chewing your food or simply still sipping on some wine, they stand at a distance to wait until you are done before stepping to your table to collect your plate. Before each new dish they used the crumbs scraper even if there was just tiny specks barely visible. Many fine dining places (except Michelin rated) wouldn't even bother and only scrape off things before your dessert course. Also my cup of water was never less than 1/3 empty. Great service by the wait staff. It's always the little things that make me happiest when eating at a restaurant but of course the food has to be really good, too!! The service was welcoming, and some of the regulars were pleasant, which made me feel accepted. I had what is considered a Meatless Monday lunch, so I ordered the chicory salad with green apple and pine nuts as a starter. This portion was relatively generous. I only ate half of the salad and took the rest to go. For my entree, I ordered the infamous Carolina gold rice risotto with mushrooms and cheese. I loved the presentation of this dish. As someone who truly enjoys dining out and exploring new restaurants, I was absolutely blown away by my experience at Le Jardinier in New York. During January, shortly after the holiday season, the restaurant was not overly crowded, which made for a relaxed dining experience without feeling rushed. From the moment we walked in until we left, every staff member was kind, respectful, professional, polite, and accommodating. I want to take a moment to highlight the hostess, who appeared very professional and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job. She escorted us to our table, which offered a lovely view of the entire dining room. I was thrilled to receive my favorite table--thank you! Once seated, a lovely and genuine server named Paige came over to introduce herself. Her extensive knowledge of the food and beverage menu was impressive. While we debated which bottle of wine would pair best with our courses, she went above and beyond to help us choose the right one--an incredible service! As a regular guest and huge fan of Le Jardinier, particularly of Chef Alain and Chef Salvatore, I was excited to share this experience with my company, who was dining here for the first time. We decided to sample a variety of items from the menu. For appetizers, we chose the famous Roasted Maine Scallops, which is one of my favorites at this restaurant. The dish has changed a bit with the new menu, but it was still delicious. We also enjoyed the Spanish Octopus--oh my goodness! The freshness, texture, and flavor were amazing, making it one of our favorites thus far. Lastly, we shared the Roasted Beets, always a great choice, especially this time of year. For our entrées, we shared a risotto that was wonderful, along with a fish dish cooked to perfection. Now, as a pastry chef myself, the best part of the night was, of course, the desserts! With so many delicious choices, it was hard to decide. Since my friend had never been there, I insisted we try the Butterfly dessert, which is a must. I'm also a big fan of homemade gelato, so I had to order the pistachio gelato--super creamy, rich, and delicious! The last dessert we ordered was the Mont Blanc, which is also one of my favorites. Its presentation was a perfect 10/10 and possibly one of the top three best-plated desserts I've seen in a Michelin-starred restaurant. To top it off, Paige surprised us with an extra dessert, showcasing the excellent work of Chef Salvatore and his team. Every single bite was satisfying and delicious; I didn't want it to end! As our dining experience came to a close, I can confidently say that even though I don't live in the city, every time I'm there, I make a point to stop by at least for a drink at their sister bar, Bastion, if not for dinner. That night, we ended up enjoying drinks upstairs, where the professional bartenders made the evening outstanding. As we finished, a manager graciously sent us two glasses of champagne--what a treat! Came here for lunch during restaurant week in nyc. I know that's a horrible statement that should instill a sense of disgust and a visceral recoil among fellow New Yorkers. But it was really good!! Started with the chicory salad. Not going to lie - it was a great salad but pretty average for a one star joint. However, when I got to the risotto I couldn't stop moaning. And it just got better from there. The desert course - a hibiscus tea soaked apple tart with ginger ice cream reshaped the chemistry of my brain. It's seriously the best desert I've had at any Michelin rated restaurant. Also, as a Cosmo connoisseur this is easily the best one I've had in the city!! They do not f..k around with the drinks here. When we first sat down, the server informed us that the 5-course tasting menu would be 6-courses with an extra Scallop course. Though we each opted for the 4-course prix fixe, we did also order the Scallop course since I was curious as to why they were upselling it. The Scallop dish arrived under a cloche, which the servers unveiled theatrically. While this would have normally give some "wow" factor, this ended up being a terrible move because the cloche actually trapped the odor of spoiled seafood under it. We still tasted it and the scallops left a bitter, iodine aftertaste. It wasn't completely rotten, but it was definitely not fresh either -- fresh scallops usually have a sweet aftertaste. It was then that we realized why they were upselling the scallops to get rid of extra stock that was going off. For such an expensive restaurant to upsell seafood on the verge of spoilage was just... shocking. We can normally forgive-and-forget one or few "off" dishes, but the other courses were either just fine or actively subpar too which is why I'm even writing this. Out of all the prix-fixe courses we tried, we only enjoyed 3 out of 8. - Steak Tartare: I enjoyed it, my husband felt he's had better - Hiromasa: My husband thought it was fine, I felt like the vegetables underneath were cut too coarsely to be eaten properly with the fish - Agnolotti: We both enjoyed this - Scallop: Sauce was good, scallops were off (see above) - Duck: The meat itself needed more salt and was flavorless. Skin was rubbery, they really couldn't get a sear on that? - Guinea Hen: Flavorful, especially compared to the duck - Butterfly dessert: We both enjoyed this - Pineapple: The chocolate overpowered the pineapple We did inform the servers of how we felt, and they graciously comped our drinks. On a trip to NYC one of our goals was to eat at a Michelin star restaurant. Le Jardinier was close to our hotel, and became the perfect choice. We made reservations on Open Table. The restaurant decor is modern, sophisticated, and very nice. Our waiter was informative yet concise, giving us the info and service we needed without being intrusive. Looking online we were planning on ordering the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing, but as our luck would have it, it wasn't being offered because of NYC restaurant week . So we picked from the a la carte menu. However, the Sommelier gave us some outstanding wine picks to go with our courses. We ordered the Scallops and Pork Belly as appetizers. Both were delicious, however, it was conclusive that round one went to the Scallops. By far the best scallops I've ever had, cooked to perfection! The pork belly was also fantastic. The play of flavors in the dish were a delight. Our sommelier paired it with a Rose, and it only enhanced the appertizers. For our main course we ordered the Salmon and Wagyu steak. This round by split decision went to the Wagyu. Both were incredible! It's hard to put into words how well thought out all of our plates were. From presentation, to flavor profiles, exquisite. The wine pairings, were again right on point. A must try IMO. One to go out of your way to enjoy. read more

A very unmemorable one star dinner besides the service was very nice, interior is elegant. Started with break basket and fennel shot. The gluten free stick was questionable, the cheese brioche was the best. Fennel Shot was straight up fennel. Apps- Beef Tartar: very basic. Burrata: best app among what we got, peach was a nice touch and it would be better with slightly more peach. Salad: bland and tasteless. Entree: Ravioli: overpowering with pepper flavor. Chicken: jus was good, overall okay. Baby corn doesn't seem like a fine dining choice. Dessert: The Butterfly: it's like a mousse in donut shape. Sabayon: feels like eating foams. Came for dinner on a Saturday to celebrate an engagement and had a phenomenal visit. We were a party of four and as expected we were seated immediately. Shockingly the restaurant was quite empty and we went at prime dinner time at 7pm. We ordered a la carte and shared with the table. Appetizers were excellent: the burrata was rich and creamy, the asparagus was such a unique and interesting take - loved how juicy and gorgeous it looked!! Scallops. were also amazing and full of flavor Entrees we got salmon, gnocchi, and steak which was all also so delicious. especially loved that the gnocchi had chips because it made the texture less chewy! dessert may have been the stat of the show - just look at that strawberry cheesecake! how gorgeous and delicious! 10/10 definitely recommend and would return. great staff, gorgeous interior, excellent food! read more

Green marble decor the beautiful upstairs bar we ate at the downstairs bar because the tables are very close together is the only negative. Went here for restaurant week . the gazpacho was creamy with big chunks of tomato and the Burrata on french green beans was tasty. The Bronzino was so fresh and crispy skin. The risotto dish was absolutely fantastic wines by the glass just OK. Even the dessert was fun and delicious with Thai sorbet. read more

Beautiful place, attentive and kind service. Had the restaurant week menu for lunch. I loved the lobster! It was such a wonderful texture poached. They ran out of scallops that day-Wish I could've tried that. I liked the pork belly dish. Gazpacho was fine- The tomato cherries in it were the highlight. Burrata was also ok. Others in the party enjoyed the salmon with caviar. I thought it was OK. They like salmon not too cooked. I like it more cooked. I enjoyed how the bok choy on it had a smoky grilled flavor. Thought the Carolina rice risotto was a bit hard maybe undercooked. Desserts were beautifully plated, think I liked peach tart more than the chocolate. I enjoyed the $13 "golden spice" carrot juice. It was very healthy and carrot- tasting with not that much sweetness. read more

We did the summer 5-course tasting menu + a bottle of wine. TLDR: okay food, great service, not worth returning. First course was a cold, raw fish with pineapple sauce and caviar --- this was good and fit the "summer" taste brief. Second course was some kind of zucchini noodle with a mushroom cheese foam --- this was pretty disappointing and lacked flavor. Third course was a summer corn + truffle risotto --- just ok. Fourth course was duck breast with glazed fig --- this was good if you liked duck. Dessert course was the only SPECTACULAR part of the meal (strawberry mouse with coconut dacquoise) --- truly, truly Michelin worthy. They also brought us an additional dessert, since this was to celebrate a special occasion, and this was even better (chocolate mousse with caramel inside) The servers were fantastic and attentive, the ambiance was lovely (like a garden), the food presentation was stunning, but the food itself was nothing to write home about. The restaurant is gorgeous. It's inviting, warm and very comfortable. I was a bit surprised by the bathrooms which are not just dimly lit, you virtually can't see them to open the door, and the lighting inside is at max a 5w bulb. Seriously. It's a miracle I walked out without any water stains, or worse. For a Michelin star restaurant, to be honest, I expected a lot more. For one, the head waiter was almost rushing us at the beginning of the meal, unheard of in this type of high-level establishment. The presentation of dishes were mostly given by hard working staff, but had very unfortunate language skills. I asked twice to repeat what the dishes were, and then gave up. The experience loses a lot when part of the whole experience is the description of the unique dishes and preparation. But if you can't understand it, it's just another local pub. Finally, and this was the biggest disappointment, the taste. It's French cuisine, but the reality it was more vegetable bent and bland than any French food I've tried before. The dishes were nicely plated, but certainly no wow factor. Worth a one time visit, but would not be my choice to return. read more
