[[HIGHLIGHT]]Although I would've preferred to have been seated away from a family with 3 loud, ill-behaved kids, it was still a nice cozy table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On our table we found a nice Happy Anniversary card, which was very sweet! Our server Selma L. greeted us warmly and with a smile. Selma L. was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and remained very available and checked in on us often throughout our meal. I knew I wanted the Escargots en Persillade(my favorites!), and we paired them with Mushroom&Ricotta ravioli, and the Branzino. Every dish was perfectly paired with sauces and flavors blended well together. The Branzino skin was perfectly crispy, the potatoes were a little softer than I'd personally like but were still tasty. We made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chocolate lava cake and the cheesecake and were gifted two glasses of dessert wine and truffles. Everything is made from scratch, in-house. The New York cheesecake stood out ahead of the lava cake but I would order both again. This restaurant is perfectly situated to accommodate you for a pre-show dinner, and offer discounted meals starting at 8pm-close. The branzino when they brought it out they spilled a decent bit of the sauce on my wife's foot (she was in sandals). No real apology and no one offered to give her anything to clean up. The branzino was ok. Nothing to write home about. My wife got the chicken - WAAAAAY over-fried. Dry as a bone. Mashed potatoes and hericots verts on her dish were delish! This restaurant is fabulous. The menu has lots of yummy choices. The Braised Lamb Schank is my favorite. So delicious, perfectly prepared and impossible to stop eating before every last bit has been devoured. The salmon is also tasty if I'm trying to make a healthier choice. That doesn't happen very often. For an appetizer I highly recommend the French onion soup. Wow! Unbelievably divine. The atmosphere alone is reason to come here. It's spacious and well maintained. Unlike far too many restaurants, this place doesn't force in 2 or 3 extra tables, leaving you to feel distant enough from other diners as to permit a more romantic and personal space. What a night! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Incredible festive atmosphere to celebrate New Year's Eve.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant offered an all-inclusive $120 Prix Fixe, which was essentially 4 courses and a sparkling wine send off. Our server (Ryan or Brian?) was amazing and very attentive. As was the entire team on this increasingly busy night. We drank Taittinger Prestige Champagne and Mullan Road Cabernet, but I enjoyed perusing their very French wine list. I enjoyed the sea scallops which were served in a leek fondue with black truffle jus. Very savory and paired well with Champagne. They offered a "mid" course which was the Winter Truffle Risoto. I enjoyed how the pine nuts gave it some extra texture. Atlantic Halibut was my main and it was perfectly tender and delicious with the potatoes and capers. For dessert, the New York Cheesecake basically melted off of my fork, it was so good. Those were my selections, but it was honestly hard to choose! The decor is just lovely! Low lights with red and gold tones, beautiful and relaxing. It is best to have a reservation for dinner! The bar is open seating and that's where we sat at a very small table. The escargot was delicious in the traditional hot dish with oil, garlic, and herbs. They don't serve them in the shells so I was a little disappointed. The octopus was okay with only a little chewiness to it. The wine list has all the options needed to go with dinner including a couple of Chablis. Our waiter was not in his element. We asked for a dry white wine and he brought us glasses of wine but we had to stop him and ask what it was as he walked away. He delivered our plates but never expanded on them, it was more drip off and walk away. A wonderful little spot with the most personable staff. I was impressed that they asked if we were going to a show after dinner. The Escargot had the best most unique outstanding sauce and the main entree of Chicken Cordon Blue was large enough to split with also an excellent lite sauce. Started with a makers mark manhattan and my lovely bride of 50 years has the lemon drop martini. Both wonderful and perfectly prepared by jJimmy the bartender. We sat at the bar and Jimmy made some great recommendations. He has been at Marseille for 23 years! Go Jimmy! They presented a sour dough roll rosemary /oil Very nice. Onto our escargot app which was terrific. Right combo of butter / garlic. I had the steak frites with fries. Fries fantastic and steak at medium rare was such an awesome experience. MK had short ribs also very good. Ok this place environment is dated but offerings are terrific! May not be pretty but a great place and have to tell you this is a place to go ! I picked this restaurant because I had wanted to bring mom somewhere special for restaurant week and the menu selection just sounded so delicious and high class. I definitely knew that I would be needing to order escargots because when in a French restaurant ~ most definitely did not disappoint!!! Herbaceous and lemony and paired with the baguette. Say no more! The apps to entrée to dessert were dishes I normally wouldn't make at home and the flavors were so intoxicating. Creamy , buttery, luscious, and for the desserts, not too sweet. We were in NYC months ago. Just a quick drop in here for the bottomless brunch. Had no intention of writing anything up, didn't take photos. Wouldn't you know this morning, Yelp, sends me the directive to write about my experience. I remember the brunch was pricy but reasonable for the spread. Very impressive. Recommended. A Love Letter to Brunch (with a French Accent) Marseille is basically a teleportation device to France... just with more honking and fewer berets. Nestled in the hustle of Hell's Kitchen, this place is a little slice of Paris without the jet lag or the judgmental pigeons. I've popped into Marseille several times for a martini (okay, more than several), but a few Sundays ago, my fiancé and I decided to brunch like the classy adults we pretend to be--and wow, did we level up. Let's start with the service: impeccable. Our waitress was so attentive, I briefly wondered if she could read minds. She helped us make decisions like a brunch therapist. (We're both hopelessly indecisive--choosing between two dishes feels like choosing a favorite child.) We kicked things off with two dirty martinis because brunch without cocktails is just a sad late breakfast. Pro tip: if you like your martinis dirty enough to require a PG-13 rating, this is your spot. Appetizer: Escargots en Persillade -- Yes, I ate snails. And yes, I'd do it again. These little guys were swimming in a garlicky, herby butter situation that made me want to dip everything on the table in it--napkin included. Main Courses: I had the Croissant Florentine -- A buttery, flaky croissant topped with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise so good it could start a cult. My fiancé had the Roast Turkey Baguette -- He said the bacon was "next level" and the sandwich "hit him right in the soul" (his words, not mine--but I agree). We split a side of fries that were crispy, golden, and seasoned by what I assume is a fry wizard in the back. Seriously, order the fries. You'll want to write them a thank-you note. The vibe? Very French bistro meets NYC buzz. It's always busy, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation unless you enjoy waiting while hangry. All in all, 10/10 would snail again. When I am in NYC for more than a day Marseille is a must. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the restaurant is spacious, it is the cozy bar that is perfectly delightful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On my most recent visit Matt was the well groomed old style bar keep that gave me the specials and prepared one of the house libations. We needed to kill some time while wandering around NYC and the husband wanted oysters- boy was he happy we found Marseille! We are from Texas and we are used to the oyster specials always been gulf oysters- I'm not super into them so don't ask me but the husband was ecstatic to find $1.50 non-gulf oysters and ended up ordering 3 dozen which I only ate a couple of lol. The service was great, attentive and friendly, and while I don't have much to say about the oysters we also got the soup of the day which was a delicious creamy mushroom soup, and I loved the free bread (this always adds a star in my book!), and the passion fruit cocktail! The 'snack' ended with free truffles too- all in all this felt like a fine dining experience with a neighborhood bar price tag (and friendliness). Dinner at Marseille's French Restaurant was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We were warmly greeted by a friendly waiter from Louisiana who immediately made us feel welcome. We kicked things off with the happy hour $1.50 oysters--fresh, briny, and utterly sumptuous. Next came the kale, goat cheese and squash salad, which tasted incredibly fresh with a perfectly balanced dressing. Just when we thought it couldn't get better, dessert stole the show: the crème brûlée was rich and silky with real vanilla bean, and the New York-style cheesecake was just as delicious. Exactly what we were looking for in a pre-Broadway show dinner spot. Service was quick and attentive, generously-sized portions, very good French cuisine. We enjoyed the quennelle (a lyonnaise specialty that is rarely on menus), NY Striploin steak frites, lamb shanks tagine, and shared a shrimp tempura beignets starter. I wanted to have Boullabeise So I looked around, and of course, I found Marseille, which is where Boullabeise is from We arrived waitress was very friendly. We ordered escargot and their specialty. The waitress said that the kitchen staff was busy with a private party The escargot arrived really late and very cold. They put lemon in them, which I don't understand. Eventually, the Boullabeise arrived about an hour after sitting down. It was very clear to me that I watered down the broth because they were running out. It was tasteless. I enjoyed my grilled salmon and my sister loves getting the short rib. A visit to this restaurant is not complete without their crème brûlée. Marseille stands high on my Hell's Kitchen go-to list. It faithfully reproduces the feeling of a Paris brasserie in Manhattan. The menu is perfect for a diverse group-meat, fish, shellfish, and vegetarian. I opted for a fantastic vegetable couscous as an entree. Perfect portion, great veggies, and spicy Moroccan tomato sauce rounded it out. My companions all opted for salmon. Again, a big hit with terrific vegetable sides. The Bibb lettuce salad, also perfect. Dessert of profiteroles and chocolate sauce, also great. What a wonderful evening out at Marseille. When this restaurant first opened, I lived just around the corner. As a matter of fact, I worked in the same building for a little while. Anyway, for the first time, while on a two-week visit to New York this past June of 2026, I decided to have dinner at here. Why did I wait so long ? I ordered the French onion soup, the steak frites, and the creme brûlée from the prix fixe menu. All were excellent. The French onion soup had such depth in the broth. It's not so easy to cook a hangar steak in such a way as to turn out tender, but the folks in the kitchen of this restaurant managed it quite well. I don't allow myself dessert much any more, but I indulged with the creme brûlée. What a hit! Finally, the atmosphere, as would be expected of a place with a name like Marseille, has that old-world, continental warmth. The wait-staff was on it, too. Management has their routine down here. I was seated at the bar and so I had a view of the lively activity there. Boy, what a popular, festive place. Kudos to the bartender. I could tell he commanded the respect of the wait staff. I had a mixed experience at Marseille. It's more like a 3.5 star. FOOD: 4/5 The escargot and the goat cheese appetizers were excellent. The duck was a little dry for me without as much flavor as I'd expected. I've had duck confit many times and felt like this was underwhelming. SERVICE: 3/5 The biggest issue we had is that there was a 25-30 minute delay between when the waitress took our drinks order and when she finally came back to take our food orders. I know this because we had a bar reservation afterwards and I kept checking the time. I tried to make eye contact with the waitress but she seemed to be running around with others getting the place settings for the large party next to us who arrived after we did. She didn't glace at our table even as she went past it. It was a bit frustrating to wait so long and we were definitely hungry. Our reservation was at 6:45 and she finally came to take our food orders around 7:30. I will note that she did apologize for the delay but I still think 25-30 minutes is far too long. On a more positive note, they didn't charge us for 2 mixed drinks that two people in our party got but didn't touch because they tasted too bitter (gin drinks). AMBIANCE: 4.5/5 Very cute spot and I liked that they had round tables for our party of 6. The dimmed the lights twice for some reason which seemed a little odd. We went here tonight after seeing Gypsy. Arrived a bit early for our reservation and they gave us a great table in the bar area. Everything here is done beautifully. Started with the goat cheese appetizer which was delicious. I mean, fried goat cheese?? Just take my money! Hubby had a gin and tonic and I had one of their spritz drinks. For mains, hubby had the short ribs and I had the lamb. Both were done to perfection. Portions were very good size so there is excellent value for the price. Service was 10 stars. So we'd been trying to squeeze in a visit here for their Oyster Happy Hour the entire time of our stay. On our final day we finally made it, and it was somewhat a disappointment. While multiple oyster types are available on the menu (six for $21) the happy hour special for $1.50 was only on blue points. I mean I get it, it's $1.50 but the seafood market at Chelsea Market had half price oysters of all of their offerings during their happy hour. But the rolls and butter were delicious. As were the oysters we got. But the rest of the menu didn't appeal to us so we left after the oysters. Lovely interior. Super friendly waiters. read more

Fortunately they have an oyster happy hour to vide our time. We ordered 18 oysters as they were $1.50 per piece (minimum order of 6), which is a great deal. They were fresh and were tasty. For dinner, I got my usual onion soup. Not too bad. For dinner I got the duck confit, which was very filling. My hubby got the fish special--it was melt in your mouth as our waiter described. Sat up at the bar for recent brunch. I have never had a better omelet in my life. I ordered the bread/pastry basket too and had plenty so I took some home. This meal and the service from the bartender was so good I went back again the next day. The omelet is served with a small side of arugula salad lightly dressed. It is very lively for brunch and there can be a wait so prepare for that. I got in quickly because I just sat up at the bar.
