This is a pretty middle of the road Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant for me. I've had better, but I've definitely had worse. In more ways than one Le Kebob has the same thing going as Sheshco Grille on East Beltline. The best thing they have going in the warm bread and toum (garlic butter) sauce that they immediately bring to the table (also customary at Sheshco, but I never complain about/get sick of). I read some previous reviews saying they had terrible or unprofessional service, which is quite surprising because my party was immediately greeted/seated and they took our drink orders and gave us ample time to make our decisions, answered menu questions thoroughly, and came back many times while we ate. Maybe we just lucked out with the best waitress in the shop. Anyway, the food was fantastic. I came here with my dad and brother, neither very familar with Middle Eastern cuisine. My dad ordered a kebab platter, my brother ordered a standard shawarma sans pickles and I got a vegetarian platter. Mine came with salad, tabbouleh, grilled veggies, rice, hummus, a spinach pie, and 1 largeish falafel ball. It was all very delicious, especially the tabbouleh, but I wasnt too keen on their falafel. Wasn't terrible, but I've just had so much better. My brother and and dad both really loved their meat dishes. Anyway, this restaurant is cute on the inside, the food is really good (not to die for, but good), but because Sheshco is closer to where I live, Im more likely to go there to get the same food, same quality that I'd get a Le Kebob. This is the best middle eastern food in the area. Their lemon oregano chicken is outstanding, and the garlic paste is spicy and fresh. They have a 2 for 27 dollar special: two entrees and two starters (soup or salad) for 27. The portions are huge so you will definitely have leftovers. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I was extremely happy with my first time visit to Le Kabob! The food was absolutely wonderful! I ordered the grape leaves to start with which were warm and delicious. For the main entree I ordered then lamb and beef kabobs (I think) which came with rice and a salad. I liked the lamb a lot better than the beef but both were still good. You get a lot for the money for sure. The furniture could use a lot of TLC. It was all warn and old. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely would come back if I make it to the Grand Rapids area again. read more

Hi. My name is Skip and a I have a Red Wine addiction. I cannot help myself so whenever David Russo does an email blast about some super deal he has at Russo's on 29th I can't stop myself from hitting the "Reply" button and saying "I will take a case of that" It really is a sickness and I see no possible cure. Problem is, I live over by Allendale and work out of town so it is a pain in the butt for me to pick up my wine at Russo's and it stacks up until I force myself to set aside the time to drive over there on a Saturday. Which is a long, stupid lead in to my wife and I sitting in Le Kabob on 28th street across from Woodland Mall on Saturday afternoon. You see, I had to get to Russo's and pick up my 4 cases of wine anyway, so we figured we would go to the cheap movie place at Woodland and go out to lunch and make an afternoon of it since I had to go to Kentwood on a Saturday. Because I was dropping a small fortune on wine, the cheap movie worked and I found a Groupon deal at Le Kabob to save some money. We got to La Kabob at about 1:30pm and had no problem getting a table. My wife ordered lamb kabobs with french fries and I ordered beef kabobs with rice in a very lame attempt to eat healthy. Lame in that my wife never eats even half her fries and I pick at them despite having rice on my plate. Before our Kabobs got there, they did what all my favorite Mediterranean places do...they brought out a basket of flatbread and some awesome garlic paste. Both were REALLY GOOD and it took all we had not to stuff ourselves on that so we had room for the kabobs. Entrees come with a soup or salad and I choose a cup of the Chicken Veg soup which was very good. My wife opted out to save room for the meat which is her favorite part. We love to share so we each got two skewers and she gave me some lamb and I gave her some beef. A great way to get a combo no matter what two meats you choose when going to a Kabob place. Both were really good. My wife only ate half and had the rest the next day. Lots of things looked good on the menu but we love kabobs and probably would tend to get them all the time. We will definitely make this place a regular stop when in the Kentwood area (probably because I bought more wine at Russo's which is costing me more money than a crack addiction) When I give Kabob place a 5, I am not comparing it to Ruth's Chris or anything. Great food. Love the hot bread and smooth garlic sauce. Could make a meal just of that! Prior to Covid, my brother turned 60 and wanted a meet & greet at LeKabob. They were very accommodating and let us bring in our own birthday cakes. As the host, we had Le Kabob supply the appetizers and those who wanted to stay for dinner ordered from the menu on there own dime. It all worked out really well and the staff configured the room to accommodate about 40 guests. I'd do it again. My brother was thrilled with his whole birthday experience at LeKabob. This past year with Covid, I ordered the lamb with lots of other great food & dropped it off to my brother. Even as takeout, it was hot & delicious and made his solo birthday very special. Tried the shish tawook and shish kafta sandwiches here and both were decent. I've been here once before too and noted that their garlic sauce with their chicken is waay too overpowering. And that still holds through. It's a little too potent for my taste and throws off the flavor profile a bit. The hummus is on point though and one of the best I've had. I eat a lot of Lebanese in the Detroit metro area when I'm there for work. I finally caved and stopped here while in Grand Rapids. Wow! I got the lamb shawarma lunch special, it came with so much meat that was delicious! The rice was good, and the veggies were outstanding; however, I ordered them sans bell peppers. I upgraded for $1 to the fatoush salad. Everything was delicious. The Arabic coffee was so smooth and flavorful. So much food! Plus the bread and garlic were yummers! I'll definitely back. I got some baklava to go; it comes from Dearborn from Shatila Bakery, so it has to be good, I'm just too full to eat it! I'll be back next month, and I know where I'm going for lunch for sure! One of my favorite places in town for ethnic food! The garlic dip is amazing and I always get the lamb here! I've brought colleagues here for meet ups and they are always impressed with the good food and large portions. I usually have enough for a couple of small lunches afterwards. Usually great but way off the mark on this visit. Naan bread still had raw dough inside. Told waitress but no offer of replacing it. Chicken kabob was well past chargrilled and dried out. Shish kabob was tender as always but overdone. My favorite - lentil soup - just wasn't as flavorful and rather thin. Asked for a glass of water but never received it. Felt like we were an inconvenience. We had not been to this location for awhile and I now understand the comments on the loud "kitchen noise". I believe the issue is that the food pickup window in this location faces the seating area so you do tend to hear what I'd call, "normal kitchen banter". At the Wyoming location, the layout is different and much quieter. I believe the food here is far better as well based on the two recent visits. Disappointing. read more

My FAVORITE go to Mediterranean restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting and just so many cool decorations to look at when you're waiting for your food. They give you complementary pita bread that is hot and fresh and it is TO DIE FOR. The bread is so delicious you won't able to stop eating it. Their hummus is the smoothest, creamiest, tastiest hummus you'll ever eat. I love coming for the lunch special you get a wrap salad and drink for a very reasonable price. The falafel is super tender and flavorful with a really good crunch on the outside. The kabobs are seasoned very well and have a good meaty goodness too them. Worst and bland ever Mediterranean food that I ever had. Quantity? Definitely yes. Quality? Don't even think about it.

The place is nice and open with plenty of space to sit. The staff was very friendly. We ordered the sampler for two and let me say it should really be for 4 people. The food was plentiful and very good. If you are wanting to try a variety of things, this is the way to go. All the items were wonderful! The grape leaves were very good along with the variety of meat items. I would have never ventured out to try some of the items individually but was very pleased to have ate them as part of the dinner. I would name off the items but I honestly don't remember or know what they all are. Go give it a try for yourself. The dinner for two cost $29 without the tip. We took the left overs home and fed three more with the food and still had left overs! read more
