A "Chophouse" that doesn't seem to know how to cook steak. The abiance and decor are premium, the service excellent and most the food was great. Had I made a meal solely of the starters it would have been a five star experience. The beef carpaccio was decadent, the crab cakes a delight, the shrimp cocktail a perfect example of this staple starter, and even the wedge salad was wonderful. My $60 Ribeye on the other hand was more akin to eating shoe leather. Most cuts are best at medium rare but I tend to prefer a medium on ribeye because I enjoy the rendered fat when done correctly. My "medium" ribeye was prepared over extremely high heat producing a dark black char and a thick grey band around the thin pink center. If it was rested at all, every ounce of moisture had already been brutally cooked out of the beef. Dry, chewy, tasteless and the high heat combined with a a short cook left the fat still not fully rendered. I suspect the beef was not dry brined and it received only a cursory seasoning before being cooked to death. All of the sides were excellent. I'm typically not a fan of truffle fries but these were not over powering and very balanced in flavor. I would say that the portions were a bit small to be considered shareable otherwise all of them were good choices. read more

The bartender, Paul, started our evening off right with three fabulously prepared cocktails...a smoky old fashioned presented dramatically in a clear smoke box, a French 76, and a couple of perfect martinis. After being seated, our server Rose, and her assistant Alex did an amazing job caring for us throughout the evening. They were very personable as well as knowledgeable on the menu and the chef. Rose paced our meal as requested, starting with the truffle gnocchi. Cream and delicious and easy to share with 3-4 people. We then had escargot pot pie which had a crispy pastry topping and the "pot pie" filling was loaded with perfectly cooked, not rubbery, snails. Then an egg told ravioli with shaved white truffles! And the chefs favorite creation, a fois gras mousse tart with sautern gelee. This was really special and we will be back next weekend just for that! We also shared a large ribeye before moving to desserts. The crème brûlée was perfect, and not too sweet! We loved his fusion of tres leches and bread pudding. Creative and scrumptious! There was a good wine list including a good selection of after dinner fortified wines that paired nicely with our dessert. This was an exceptional evening of food, beverage, service, and ambiance. My wife and I ate at LeMoyne's for the first time last night, and it will not be the last. I first, enjoyed the complimentary valet parking when we arrived. The entrance to the Admiral Semmes Hotel and LeMoyne's is beautiful. We were escorted to our booth, which was very roomy and comfortable. My wife and I were able to sit next to each other which is not common. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant was wonderful. We began the experience with drinks which were very good. The "smoky" Old Fashioned was impressive and smooth. The appetizers, entrees, and side dishes were delicious. The crab cake was to die for, and the Conecuh Mac and Cheese was very good. We probably enjoyed the service as much as the food. Our server, Sidney, was wonderful. She was very attentive but not hovering. Her assistant was good as well, and the manager checked on us regularly. There were a couple of "hiccups", but nothing that wasn't immediately taken care of. All restaurant design aspects are simple gorgeous, an amazing renovation project that will definitely elevate the hospitality scene. Ordered the Gulf Crab Cacio e Pepe feature topped with Kaluga caviar, and every component was executed wonderfully, very delicious dish! My wife and I are in town for a college bowl game. This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel. The atmosphere is very elegant. The service was top shelf. Rose, our waitress, made the experience even that much better. My wife had the filet with brussels sprouts. I had the ribeye with the crème spinach. Both dishes were flawless.
