I was in Greenwich and had just finished picking up some merch at the Apple Store when I felt a little hunger. Since it was around lunch time, I thought I would browse the Avenue to see if I could grab a bite. It was a short search since Le Pain Quotidien was right down the block - and since I'm a fan of the brand I thought it would be the ideal place to go. Le Pain is a fast-casual chain that serves soups, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. The best way to describe the workflow is to compare it to Panera, though Le Pain has better aesthetics, offers better food, and has table service if you choose to dine in (okay so maybe it's not appropriate to compare it to Panera). Decor is nice - it's semi-upscale without being stuffy, totally accessible to the casual shopper on the Greenwich Ave. Anyway, I was dining in so I had a seat and started browsing the menu. I didn't want anything too heavy, and the mozzarella melt looked perfect. This was kind of like a big crostini topped with cherry tomatoes, arugula, chicken, and mozzarella. The dish was great, all the ingredients were fresh and complemented each other well. It was also the perfect lunch size - I felt satisfied but not stuffed. Service was good, everyone was really friendly. Overall, I had a great experience at this Le Pain - the food is good, the employees are friendly, and this is an ideal place to stop in for a quick meal. I've been to another location up in Rye and loved their menu instantly. This location has been my go-to for quick lunches. It's somewhat reasonably priced- but not on the cheap end either. Meal selections are nice- satisfying almost any, food preference. Lé Pain's dishes (from what I've eaten) taste nice. Items are well cooked. For instance, I absolutely love their Vegetable Quiche- has just that...Broccoli, Spinach and a few other veggies. To add, I've ordered 'Vegetable Quiche' from other popular eateries on the Ave- only to find out at first bite- that they would add bacon to. (Called their attention on it). No attention and almost ignored. When one server finally noticed me I got nice service from him. As for the other staff at the café I felt like I'm an alien for dining alone... I love this place. We've gone almost every single weekend since we've discovered it. My regular picks: - Belgian sugar waffle: Dense but light waffle covered with powdered sugar and fresh berries. Amazing. They have these pre-packaged to-go, as well. - Salmon tartine: Delicious smoked salmon on top of home-made whole wheat bread served with fresh beets, cucumbers, and cantaloupe. Sooo light and delicious. - Ham and gruyere omelette: Their omelettes are sooo light and fluffy. How do they do it? I have no idea, but its unbelievably tasty. - Quiche Lorraine: I'm usually not a fan of quiches AT ALL, but their quiche is so creamy and full of flavor. Love. Love this place! The service is amazing (ask for Greg, he's the most amazing waiter I've ever had) and the food is impeccable. The chowder was amazing, the quiche was mushy, and the riz au lait was not sweet enough and kind of goopy. Overall, the food was okay. It sounded a lot better on the menu. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired: though they serve dinner, there's a cafe in the front, and the whole place is overly-lit at night. Nice location in downtown Greenwich. A good option to hang out while I wait between meetings. There is some street parking but you will be better off parking at the train station and walk over. There are quite a fee nice retail shores nearby so you can window shop as well. The decor is very similar to other LPQ. I think they were training a new guy when I was getting my coffee. Took a while and when I got it it was half empty. They were kind enough to top off the cup with milk but defeats the purpose of ordering a latte. I admit that I did come late but there was an hour and a half before closing. The attendant at the front took my order. I take my coat off and sit at a table, now I remember asking the waiter at the front for a small salad and a soup. I did not want a large salad and I stated that twice. (I just finished 6 mile cardio in 45 minutes so my stomach can only handle a small amount of food.) I also asked the waiter/ cashier what time the establishment closed. It might seem the waiter would be more intuitive and ask, is it for here or to go. Anyhow, not to make a fuss, and $27.00 later I get a cup of soup, salad, and some bread thrown in a bag. My wife absolutely adores this place, and I generally agree with her, except I do feel like I'm paying an excessive amount for very little food. I was very impressed by their vegan dishes, as my wife ordered the black bean hummus tartine and I ordered the 6-vegetable vegan quiche. I am NOT a vegetarian by any means but I was curious what the hubbub was all about and expected this quiche to be this bland slab of cardboard. Instead, I had a very palatable, tangy, vegetable mix. My wife absolutely adored her black bean humus tartine as well, finding it deliciously creamy, tangy, and beautifully presented. One thing I didn't enjoy was the whole-wheat sourdough. I firstly did not find it very sour Secondly I thought it tasted kind of stale. Thirdly, it was pretty expensive for bread at approximately $4 for a 1/4 loaf of bread. Another that kinda sucks is how hard it is to find parking in Greenwich village. I came when it was raining, expecting less people but boy was I wrong. It's a pretty cool plaza with lots of other nice shops, so remember to bring coins to feed the meters, and extra time to find parking! In conclusion, the ambiance and the layout of the restaurant was very pleasant with lots of dark wood and hand drawn signs. The servers were also very kind and helpful, and the bathrooms were good and clean. I also read that they use organic ingredients whenever possible and I guess that makes the higher prices oh so slightly more justified. I'd come back here in a heartbeat if I had a 6-figure job but with the prices as they are, I would rather spend my money at a Chipotle. read more

I love the staff, interior, and food of this place. There is a lot of seating, and the staff are quick to help (even at peak hours). My favorite dishes, which I have tried each at least five times, are: the avocado toast (A MUST, especially if this is your first time), the quinoa spelt scone (ask for cream with it! trust me, it will make it ten times better), and zucchini noodle pad thai (perfect for anyone looking for a lighter, less caloric meal).
