At first, it was intimidating to see others dancing so well, when I couldn't figure out at first how to do a rock step! I didn't think I could do it, but with the dedication, passion, and patience from the instructors, I learned the Foxtrot, the Waltz, Rumba, Cha-cha, Swing, Disco, a little Tango and Merengue. Now, rather than getting on the floor at weddings dancing the all-too-familiar penguin dance (basically rocking side to side like a penguin), I owe my confidence level and dance experience to Now and Then.

By being a student of the studio, you are also able to participate in group classes as well (generally there are 3 Newcomers or Pre-Bronze group dance classes a week, great for beginners). The instructors are absolutely phenomenal. They are knowledgeable, extremely friendly and supportive, and constantly encourage us and themselves to improve our dance skills. In fact, they engage in continuing education by going to dance competitions and learning from others as well. At this studio, you'll rotate dance instructors which is great so that you get experience with different dance styles and tips from different people. My husband and I started dance class as a way to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We had never properly danced before and our bodies just don't "go with the flow." But...the instructors helped us get more comfortable with dancing and now it's become a shared hobby of ours! After the wedding, we decided to continue going to dance class to continue skill building in a supportive environment that pushes us out of our comfort zones. We've learned all sorts of dance styles - club swing, single swing, triple swing, foxtrot, waltz, merengue, bachata, rumba, salsa, tango, cha cha, and tons more. They have a ton of space for dancing which is really all you really need to worry about. We went for a free introductory session where we learned the basics of the foxtrot, waltz, and foxy in about 45 minutes and we had one on one treatment with an instructor. They will talk to you after the session to try to get you to sign up but they did not pressure us and they give an introductory discount which I think is reasonable. Once you sign up for one on one sessions, you are also able to take group sessions and parties which is a pretty good deal! The staff was super helpful and so hospitable. Overall a great experience as we are looking forward to making this part of our weekly date nights!

We reached out to Alina, who, over the course of four lessons, was able to help us coordinate an absolutely perfect dance routine that was both challenging, yet accessible for our skill level. She is very patient and adapted the routine based on our skill level. She also made sure to ask questions about the wedding dress (and how it would affect my ability to dance and move) and the venue layout/surface to make sure that our routine was perfectly choreographed. Besides being a wonderful dancer, Alina is an absolute joy to work with! She was very good about emailing us prior to our lessons to confirm and responded to our emails promptly. That said, if you are looking for an environment to help your daughter learn self-discipline, this is the place to go. The girls ARE commended when they do well, given positive reinforcement, and when they don't do so well, they are given extra help. The values are strong, and the instruction is first class. They don't do competitions, they do several full-scale semi-professional performances each year, and not all of the students will be included in them. But if the student works hard, she will almost certainly be in the next one. I can't recommend this place enough, but it's not for everyone. It helped my daughter learn to stand up for herself, helped teach her that not everyone gets an award just for showing up, and taught her physical skills that will be with her for life. If you like traditional values, and want your daughter to learn classical ballet, try this studio.
