My BF surprised me with dinner reservations for our post Valentine's Day celebration! It's a new restaurant to try for the both of us. As we both had to work on Valentine's Day, so we always celebrate the day after. They have a wonderful menu. We ended up over ordering! We ordered 3 appys, and 2 mains! We were so full we had to skip dessert! We wanted to order everything! We got the duck liver mousse, the fried artichokes, the steak tartare. All of which was delicious. We got the duck confit and the hanger steak frites as our mains. It was a delicious meal and attentive service. Definitely looking forward to coming back to trying the rest of the menu. read more

Wow amazing!!! I took a chance on this place to bring my partners parents to a dinner before they headed back to the East Coast. Was a little troublesome to get a reso at our desired time - my desired time was not listed on the online reservation app so then we called and were tentatively booked over the phone for somewhere in the ballpark of 7:30 to 7:45. We ended up coming earlier and they managed to seat us right away. Very quick and efficient service. Food was exquisite. Orders included the mussels, bavette steak and frites for $25 x2, salmon and braised beef bourguignon. Complimentary bread was provided. The only star that is lost is the decor and overall styling of the place...a little outdated. We were sat in the back area which was quiet and private however not the most beautiful ambiance. All in all, I highly highly recommend this restaurant for high quality food that is efficient and delicious! read more

I love French food but this place was like mid to me. I came here with my family. You can find free parking close by. Waiting area was kind of cramped especially with multiple groups waiting for a table. I ate the auvergnate, some charcuterie, and jarret d'agneau maghrebin. Service was good. The auvergnate was just a salad with arugula, walnuts, blue cheese, and apples. It was okay, nothing exciting. The jarret d'agneau maghrebin was braised lamb shank with vegetable tajine, dried fruit, and couscous. Lamb shank was very tender and easily fell off the bone. It was seasoned and well balanced. The couscous on the other hand was way too salty, I didn't even finish my plate. Portion size was sufficient. We also had 3 scoops of sorbet. We had melon, kiwi, and lemon. I was very disappointed. I had a reservation here for New Year's Eve and I called there to ask if there was a fixed price menu for New Year's. A very rude gentleman answered the phone and went on to say how this isn't the place for that, very snobby and then hung up. I was left in shock. It was a reasonable question and I couldn't believe that's the way they treat their clientele. Needless to say our New Years dinner plans have been ruined as I was so turned off I cancelled our reservation. I have been meaning to try this place for ages. This is a neighborhood spot that's been there for eons. In a non-descript street with seemingly hardly any hustle and bustle from the outside. Till I walked in and realized how far back it goes as there is a whole section in the back. It filled up quickly as well. A good sign that most of the folks were regulars. Service is decent. We shared the following Beet Salad: Decent nothing out of the ordinary Bocacino Salad: More Italian than French IMO OK again as hard to mess up so few ingredients. I had the veal kidneys. Fries and sauce were decent IMO Kidneys were overcooked. I also tried a bit of the duck breast. OK again. Catalan cream is not what I recall it ought be. Wine list is decent though I stuck to beer on a hot day. So all in all nothing special but that's the point I guess. I reasonably prices restaurant in this area with consistent food. Dropped in for a couple of drinks at the bar. Overall, it was a decent but not a magical experience. The cocktails are actually mixed drinks on the simplistic side, but they do have some unique/European twists to them (as opposed to basic bar rails). They are also quite reasonably priced at around $10-$12 each. Given some cocktails in Toronto can get to as high as $20-$25, I did find this bit attractive. Great menu but very poor execution. I have been going to this place since the mid 1980s and it consistently underperforms on every visit. A downward spiral of greasy fries, overcooked dry duck confit (how can you mess up a confit is still a mystery to me) un chewable steak tartare and tasteless under seasoned sweet breads. No lemon offered for an extra touch on the sweet breads. No salt or pepper. Regrettable experience as I went there for the memorable meals of the 1980s. No longer. read more

Classic French dishes and was surprised to find sweetbread on their menu. Food was delicious, served by very experienced waiters. Very efficient and pleasant. The place was hoping at 8:30 pm on a weeknight, so reservations is recommended. It has a neighborhood bistro feel, lots of regulars and all staff was friendly including the chefs beside the bar. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner from Le Paradis Brasserie Bistro on November 21, 2020 that included a perfectly cooked Boeuf Bourguignonne for me and Tagine de Volailles for my spouse. We went on a Tuesday evening, myself, my husband and 2 adult children. We had our choice of seating and picked the wine room. It was cozy and quiet. Our waiter and servers were fantastic. Everything we ordered was cooked superbly and flavorful. We enjoyed the ratatouille, frites and a walnut arugula salad as apps. Our mains included flank steak, bouef bourginoune, salmon with rice and seafood bouillabase. It was all delicious and well plated. For dessert we chose citron pot de creme, chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate almond torte. Divine! Cocktails and wines were also delicious. We loved the food and atmosphere and service. I have enjoyed many meals at Le Paradis but dinner last night may 13 was very disturbing. Our dinner party had 2 Chinese and 2 brown (Jamaican) people. One of the brown women asked the waiter about the most ordered item and he responded "that is what menus are for". For dessert, she asked the waiter for extra forks and plates and the waiter responded "Paris was not built in a day". Despite the food being adequate, the waiter's attitude was unsettling. On leaving, we spoke to the manager woman, who seemed uninterested and walked away. The same waiter accused us of not paying the bill so we had to wait for over 5 minutes while another staff checked the credit card machine to prove our payment. We noticed that everyone in the restaurant was white and all staff were white...we suspect that the only reason for the waiter's rudeness was based on race. I cannot believe this could happen in Toronto, in a fancy restaurant, in 2025. read more

I noticed they had a few new menu options so I promptly ordered the fried Artichoke and Whole Fish ... The Artichoke LOOKED YUMMY but it tasted like fried salt . So Sad ! I wanted it to be GOOD. Then onto the Whole Seabream ! What a bland and unseasoned plate of food . The clams on top weren't necessary, smelled fishy and added nothing to the dish. The a best part of my meal was my cocktail! Has a seperate basement section that can seat about 15-20 more people if their patio and front seating isn't enough. Avoid that death trap basement though, service is wierd down there as they only come down when they want to. Service (-9000/0) I don't even want to start. They're all old ladies with tempers and impatience. They won't let you order ahead of time if you're in a party. THEY ENFORCE 18% GRATUITY EVEN WHEN THEYRE LIKE, "btw guise we have no 18% gratuity haha ecksdee xD" DONT LISTEN TO THEM ITS A SHAM. They watch you like VULTURES ready to GOUGE and TEAR and GOUGE and TEAR if you don't pay them their damn tip. They want to rip your throats out regardless though because they're always so ANGRY AND MEAN like think, old asian gran who's granchild wasn't born a piano prodigy with no skills shown by the age of 3 months. I would have really enjoy my lunch if I able to get a table there... but unfortunately if it was raining, I got one of tables inside the stuffy dining room. Lunch Specials always the way to go!! They have reasonable daily lunch specials written on the chalkboard or in the paper menu that has open sandwiches with choice of a cold or hot soup and choice of salad or frites for $10. Decisions! Decisions! Which sandwich should I have?? How about the soup?? oh should I be healthy and go for salad but frites supposed to be really good here!! Grilled Salmon Sandwich with Cold Cucumber Soup and Spring Salad - Chilled Cucumber Soup for sure is the highlight of my lunch. Zesty, refreshing and seasoned really well... spoon licking delicious! - The sandwich is A-OK... seasoned with a dash of herb vinaigrette - Salad is a disappointment, just a boring boring salad that is not even fresh! Good restaurant hidden in a quiet residential street with a simple and affordable menu and large selection of wines and drinks. Le Paradis has a large and heated patio space at the front of the restaurant, which makes it a great option for a peaceful dinner not too far away from, but still nearby, the downtown area. I ordered the Bourride A La Provençale which was pretty good. The dish featured rockfish, bay scallops (the small kind of scallops), and a generous portion of shrimp, cooked in a fish-tomato broth. Seafood tends to be relatively expensive when going out (and in my opinion, unjustifiably) but for what you're getting at Le Paradis, I thought it was more than a fair price. The shrimp had a nice crunch on them and the broth was hot, not-too-fishy, savoury and full of umami. I went here for dinner on a weekday evening and it was fully booked, to the point they had to turn down walk-ins, so be sure to make your reservations online the day/night before. read more

We have been coming to Le Paradis for almost 30 years. We were at the restaurant last night (August 11) and sat outside in the front. Our server, Derek, was very attentive and provided very good service. Le Paradis fell short on food quality. My two daughters ordered the steak and frites. They asked for it medium....both came to the table hardly warm and the meat was chewy. One of the plates had a minimal amount of frites. Additionally, the bread that we always enjoy, was stale. We were last at the restaurant in December and also noticed that the quality of the food and the removal of certain great staples (the tarragon chicken), are no longer on the menu. While I appreciate that a restaurant must innovate and provide new and relevant food offerings, certain staples need to remain. We want to continue dining at Le Paradis...however, the past two experiences were at best, below expectations. read more

The service is excellent despite being French, the food is unbelievable, the cocktails are dynamite, the wine is great (even the house), and it's walking distance from my place. My girlfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was almost as good as what she did for my birthday after dinner ;-) It's not even that remarkably pricey. I think I can in expecting to much wondering how come after living in this area for so long I have never seen or discovered this place. I know why now. Although small from the front, it's actually quite large. It's neverending, extending to the back there where there is patio at the back too. But, the front section, is a bit crowded, the middle section as well (like they crammed in as many tables as they can) but the ceiling is low and the room is dim, downstairs seems better with more space. As well as the downstairs near the back where we sat. This French bistro can't really compare to La Société or Le Select although prices are cheaper you do get what you paid for. The menu consists of basic bistro fare like mussels, steak, calf's liver, lamb shank, beef short rib bourgogne, escargot frogs legs etc. All sounds really appealing but in reality was lack lustre. We started with the Charcuterie plate $15 which had a bunch of pates and terrine but was disappointed when the server couldny describe which was which properly and in the end they call tasted the same. I got the calf's liver $19 it was okay. Served with frites and green beans (as does steak and some other entrees). However, it was a small portion, and 1/4 of it was not cooked. I sent it back after I realized and finished the majority of the meal. They did not do any thing in consolation, a little disappointing. My mom got the Sweetbread. It was served in a pastry and tasted like a pot pie. The sweetbread was almost tasteless in all of that. Hubby got the flatiron steak, but said it was too charred on top for Medium, and was too salty. Not amazing. My dad got this Pork thing, which he liked. Our server was okay, but at a bare minimum. Was a little short and rude, but I don't think on purpose, that's just how she was. Just getting the job done. Dessert, nothing really stood out and nothing spectacular. I noticed as I was leaving, that the average age in here was probably 55+, folks who enjoy a simpler , more basic meal. On a Saturday night, it was a full house. They had attracted me with their brunch menu - bennys at $10 ! I might give it a chance again for brunch, but my expectations are definately lower. read more

A very nice French restaurant. I went as part of a group. I was very impressed by how they dealt with group meals. We had our own section and the waiters were very attentive. The restaurant even created a menu that featured our company logo. Despite the nice atmosphere and service, the food was pretty mediocre and the food came out pretty slowly. I had the beef hangar, which was cooked nicely, and the french fries were all right. I would certainly recommend it for groups, especially if you're more interested in a casual place where you can drink and be social. read more

Le Paradis is my wife and I's favorite restaurant in Toronto. While she enjoys the fine food and European atmosphere, I enjoy the reasonable prices and excellent service. First and foremost, the menu. They offer a weekly rotating menu and my wife usually opts for one of the seafood dishes. I am more boring and stick to the variation of steak frites. Neither of us have had a bad meal and it is my favorite steak in my hometown at a fraction of the cost (~$30) of other steakhouses. In terms of service, the first person you are likely to meet upon entering is the owner. He is a man who truly cares about his customer's experience and his hands on approach is reflected through the rest of wait staff. Finally, I also must commend them for how they have handled COVID-19. In addition to slashing their prices on delivery, when our first order was going to be 10 minutes later than expected it was again the owner who called us with an unnecessary apology. Take your partner their on your next special occasion and you will not be disappointed. read more

Solid French food for a good price. This is my regular go-to place to create a cozy, comfortable, yet memorable impression with people. The staff are warm and lovely. They have a good wine list and will make you whatever drink you want, which is exactly what I need sometimes. Their brunch, lunch, and dinner menus tend to stick to what they do well, and I'm not complaining one bit. This is a little neighborhood gem. Came here on Friday night on a last-minute date whim. We didn't make reservations and the place was packed, but we managed to snag a table on the back patio. 3 star food but everything else is 4+ star worthy. Lots of classic French bistro dishes. The prices are extremely reasonable. Entrees around $14-$17, appetizers for $5-$7 and desserts for only $5. Even the wine was cheap - $15 for a 1/2 liter of house red or white. The menu changes daily but they had a varied selection with 4-5 fish dishes, plus plenty of beef, chicken and lamb. Very excellent and attentive service. The interior is quite large and made up of several oddly shaped rooms; I imagine it was some kind of manor house turned into a restaurant. There's a small patio at the front but a way better patio at the back. Lots of OLD patrons eating here. I'm talking 65+. We tried a fish terrine and the Auvergnate salad with blue cheese, walnuts and apples to start. Both were just OK. The mains were much nicer, I had lamb shank (yum!) served Moroccan style with chickpeas, etc. My date had some kind of beef dish which was really good too. The creme caramel was HUGE. I usually have something witty to say in my reviews but for some reason, when it comes to this particular restaurant I don't. Perhaps I am coming up flat in the comedy department because this restaurant has nothing funny about it. Not that it takes itself too seriously, but it is what it is; a French restaurant. Everything from the charming but casual, European décor, to the fresh baguette at every table, to the daily changing menu filled with Fruits De Mer and Pomme Frites reflects its staunch French sensibility. The restaurant is busy, comfortable, and reasonable for Rosedale. But, come for the food not the fun. read more

Absolutely brilliant! You MUST reserve a table here if you expect to eat on a Thurs, Fri, Sat as this place is popular and well known for it's extremely good cuisine and extremely reasonable prices. I had a wonderful meal here with a stunning wine and it was not too expensive. While we did not have a reservation, we were able to get a table at the front which, while drafty is at least a table at this magnificent place.
