Filet mignon et foie gras + truffle cream pasta

We found ourselves in a very touristy area of Paris after a tour of the conciegerie and were unsure about potential of finding a good meal. So glad we found Le Petit Marcel! The ambiance was wonderful, classic French bistro vibes with sidewalk tables. The food was delicious with a perfect portion size to be full but not too full. Our server was outstanding - fluent English but more importantly he was charming and engaging. He showed us a few magic tricks and gave great service.

    Chateaubriand flambé au Brandy cognac

First and foremost, the aperitifs were average. The parsley, garlic butter razor clams and onion soup that we ordered didn't impress. The broth in the soup was bland and the cheese was tasteless, altogether just an average onion soup. The razor clams were decent, the garlic, butter and parsley sauce gave all the flavor. We order a Kir for the apéritifs and a Sauvignon for the meats, the Kir was forgotten and the Sauvignon came first rather than during the meat portion of the meal. The Sauvignon tastes watered down and sour. After 25 minutes of eating, our meat is served. For my lady, she ordered L'entrecôte béarnaise frites. The prime rib came super tough and impossible to cut through. The taste was completely bland and the temperature of the steak was lukewarm and bloody. As the cherry on top, the béarnaise sauce was cold and refrigerated and tasted unpleasant. The salad on the side was unappetizing and unnecessary to say the least. The fries, well they're fries. And even then, they were cold and stale. For my order, the Chateauxbriand flambé in brandy cognac was bland and tasteless. All I could appreciate from my steak is the tenderness and the bloody temperature that I asked for. My sauce tasted like dish soap and the fries were cold and stale, same as my girlfriend. We were captivated by the overall look and aesthetic of the restaurant, as well as the certificate on the walls ensuring that everyone knows they are recognized by the culinary school of France. Completely disappointed by the quality of the food and the price, the bill came out to €140.

If I could give zero star to this place, I think I would. We came today for a coffee and the waiter has been very rude to us, saying that my girlfriend was too fat to have a hot chocolate. I've honestly never seen such an attitude in a restaurant. Never go there.

So delicious! Great dinner for a family. Really cool experience with the steak on fire was really cool entertainment.

An impromptu bout of hunger was quickly satisfied by Le Petit Marcel. Extremely close to Centre Pompidou & nestled in the middle of restaurant row, we were happily surprised by the quality of the service & food - offering options ranging from salads to burgers to crepes & everything in between, you will surely find something to satisfy! Our wonderful lunch choice was Croque with 3 Cheeses - came on a bed of arugula with roasted potatoes. There was a lot of cheese which had been melted to perfection - all combined, it was like a hearty salad with gooey, cheesy croutons Paired it with a nice glass of bordeaux & this was the perfect lunch stop! Sitting outside, under the heat lamps, we got all the benefits of outdoor dining, Paris bistros at their finest & the service was nice & funny as when presented with questions about what to order, their standard answer was indulge! It's the weekend! It's the holiday! Indulge! And we did!

Everything we ordered was delicious!! The Tigre steak, the chicken, the Thai salad and the Cheeseburger.

    Seabass and sweet potatoes!

Incredible service and food! We randomly stopped by and were immediately greeted and served. My fiancé got the French Onion soup and the beef meal. I got the seabass with sweet potatoes and it was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend this place!

This place was atrocious. The server was rude and condescending, and creepedme out quite a bit. At one point he came up extremely close and whispered right in my ear. The food was the worst I had in Paris--aesthetically and taste-wise. This was the worst duck confit I have ever eaten and the worst meal I had in Paris.

This was a wonderful, unexpected find. The staff is very friendly & jovial and welcoming. They even taught me how to say "platypus" in French. They care about the quality of food as well as providing exceptional & friendly service. It seems that this is where all the Parisians go and not a "tourist" trap at all. They will gladly translate items on the menu, if you're not sure of the definition. (They taught me two different versions of steak tartare that they have on the menu - and the regular steak tartare is superb.) Their "specials" aka plays du jour are great too! We'll be coming back here when we visit Paris again.

Really poor food. Every dish we ordered was bad quality. By far the worst food we had in Paris.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

The menu is entirely in French which, honestly, makes the experience better. You stop ordering with certainty and start ordering with curiosity. My wife had the risotto d'épeautre aux St. Jacques. I ordered the Magret de Canard au Romarin. The duck was solid. A 3.5/5 kind of dish. Rich, savory, comforting after a long day walking through the city. But the risotto surprised me more. The scallops were delicate, the spelt added this earthy texture that made the dish feel substantial without ever becoming heavy. And then there's the mousse au chocolat. The famous one. Served from an oversized bowl with this almost excessive "all you can eat" energy that somehow still feels elegant instead of gimmicky. We only needed a few bites. Soft, luxurious, lightly bitter chocolate balanced perfectly against just enough sweetness. The kind of dessert that doesn't ask for attention. It quietly earns it.
