I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast or brunch, especially if you ride the ferry to Algier's Point. It's walkable from where the ferry drops you off, which I did. It's an adorable little cafe located on the corner. I noticed there was seating outdoors, but decided to sit inside, since the weather was a little warm. It appears to be family owned. I ordered and paid at the counter. When paying, there's the option to pay by cash or credit card. There's a surcharge if you pay with plastic. They deliver your order to your table. I ordered an iced latte and breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The drink and food tasted great. I enjoyed the decor. They sell paintings and other artwork. The walls are completely filled with it. Fun, local artwork. Vibrant colors. This cafe is a little funky, but good vibes. If I lived in the area, I would be coming to eat here all the time. Service was welcoming, super friendly, and efficient. Most of the seating is centrally located, but there is also counter seating near the back, along the window. There's a refrigerator with cold drinks, including gallons of milk for sale. Why it's a little convenience store, too. There's only one restroom in the back, with high traffic. This is a family owned and operated business, so you're really getting a lot of that hometown feeling when you eat here. They have a great selection of Louisiana-base cuisine, though the newest owner/operators of this restaurant hail from a location far away. The food here is all really tasty, and it is very well prepared. Plus, the service here is exceptional. They really take care of their customers! This is a relatively small café, with limited hours. So, you really need to check the times before you travel to this restaurant. Like I initially said, it's a great place to grab breakfast. But, it's also an excellent place to get that really good lunch. In terms of seating, they have some very nicely situated tables on the interior. Each provides the experience of feeling very much at home when you enjoy your meal. Tout de Suite -- 5 (a true Algiers Point staple) Let me say this first... some places are just restaurants. And then some places are part of the neighborhood. Tout de Suite is that. If you know Algiers Point, then you already know the reputation. I've been hearing for YEARS that no breakfast spot can survive over here because Tout is just that good... that established... that loved. I used to take that with a grain of salt, but babyyy--now I get it. The backstory alone is beautiful. The former owner, Ms. Jill, retired and someone who worked there kept it going--same name, same recipes, same soul. And you can feel that the moment you walk in. It's small, cozy, filled with local art--like you're sitting in somebody's creative living room. It just feels warm. Familiar. Safe. Now before I even get into the meal... let's talk about what had me in a chokehold FIRST: The matcha with oat milk and honey. I'm devoted. Down bad. Loyal. It's smooth, slightly sweet, perfectly balanced--not too earthy, not too sugary. Yes, it's a little pricier, but I'm not even mad at it. Matcha lovers know... when it's right, it's right. And BABY... that ginger cookie??? Listen. That cookie took me home. Soft, chewy, warm spices... that ginger hit is THERE but not overpowering. It reminded me of eating ginger snaps with my grandmother. Real comfort. Real nostalgia. Easy 9/10 before we even got to the actual meal. Now for the main event-- I brought my husband for his first time (because I had to put him on right ). He got the two-egg breakfast (over easy), grits, and bread--with a side of bacon and we added a banana pancake. Let me tell you... this man is VERY particular about his grits. Like... very. And he kept talking about them. That told me everything. The grits? Creamy, flavorful, done RIGHT. The banana pancake?? Whew. So good. Soft, fluffy, real flavor--you can tell it's quality. It honestly reminded me of the pancakes I make at home, and that's saying a lot. No shortcuts, just real ingredients and love. Now me-- I got the Katria (huevos rancheros situation), eggs over easy. Very good. Very satisfying. Cheesy, flavorful, that tortilla holding it all together, plus the sour cream and avocado?? Yes. If I had one personal note--it's just that I would've loved a more refried-style bean versus the black beans. That's just MY preference though, not a flaw. The dish itself was still solid. All together, we spent about $50, which honestly felt fair for the quality, portions, and experience--especially with matcha in the mix. Overall? This place is exactly what people say it is. I visited Tout de Suite Cafe this morning for breakfast with four friends, two of which for the first time. Located six blocks from the Algiers Ferry Terminal on a street corner across from Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and McDonogh Memorial Park. There is plenty of street parking, especially adjacent to the park. This is a small cozy west bank neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot, which is frequented by locals and AirBNB visitors and an occasional celebrity (I saw one today). We arrived around 8:30 a.m. and the restaurant was full, but had no wait. There was also outdoor sidewalk seating and the restaurant supplied fly fans to keep nuisance pests away while eating, a nice touch! At a glance, I noticed local artisans placed their selected items for sale around the restaurant, adding personalized detail to the decor. My buddy frequents here regularly and I was impressed that the young lady taking his order welcomed him by his first name. We all decided on a variation of the traditional breakfast, which included a meat, O'Brien potatoes with onions and bell peppers or grits, egg(s) and toast or a buttermilk pancake ($2 up-charge). For my order my buddy suggested the O'Brien potatoes, which did not disappoint, plus two strips of bacon which were crispy and flavorful, my two eggs over-easy were to cooked to perfection, and rounding out the dish was arguably the best multigrain toast I have ever had (probably in-house baked). I also chose a cup of black coffee, which was bold/full-bodied, (how I like it-however only 1 free refill is allowed). My friends all ordered a buttermilk pancake in the place of their bread. I had a sample and found it fluffy and sweet without syrup. Only one friend ordered grits, however looking at his clean bowl, he liked it! Only one friend ordered turkey sausage (two patties), which he shared with his girlfriend. The wait staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. A waitress asked me to refill my coffee as I finished my last sip. Overall the experience at Tout de Suite Cafe was excellent and I look forward to a return visit soon to try other menu items for breakfast or lunch. Came here on a lark with some co-workers who recommended it one Saturday morning. The menu seemed about as limited as the seating available, but I was pleasantly surprised overall by the outcome. You order at the counter, take your number, and find your seat. The boudin was pretty good, and the pain du perdu (French toast) was decent. I would've loved more options or at least more food on the plate, but for a nice little midday snack (or a smaller brunch), it fit the bill. Everything. From the friendly staff to the locals recommending food for first time visitors. But the main thing was and is the food. I got the Atchafalaya which is basically crawfish etoufee served over grits and it was a 1000 out of 100. My girlfriend got the Pain Perdu which is Almond Brioche French toast dusted with orange zest, cinnamon and vanilla and made with all love. Another Algiers Point Favorite! I always get the Deep South with Over Easy Eggs and Coffee. A truly satisfying dish as every component is delicious on their own! This was my first time trying the quiche and although it wasn't my favorite quiche (too much spinach), it was still good. I especially like that the mixed fruits included strawberries! The coffee was good too, I drank it black and it only came with one refill. The service here is really nice! Everyone is very friendly and attentive.
