We are staying at an inn and I yelped restaurants. This came up in search with good reviews so I took my kids here. It's along the little street by several hotels but doesn't seem to be a tourist trap. The owner was there as well as his son, who talked to us about where we were visiting from. When I was ordering, the owner asked if I just wanted to get a simple pasta for the kids (something not on menu) and he would make it. I ordered a mushroom pasta for one and spaghetti for the other. I ordered the beef with porcini mushrooms. I tried both of my kids' pastas and they were excellent. My beef was excellent. They were both nice, and when the son noticed that I was obsessively taking pictures both with my dslr and phone, he asked if he wanted a pic together by the Xmas tree and took it for us. Then it turns out the lady eating there with her friends was his mom. The whole family was there and was so nice. The food was delicious. If you're staying near that area (cesare balbo) I highly recommend this plAce. I love that I could just ask for very simple things for my kids (that weren't on the menu). And the family is so friendly! Love. I asked if they would pack something to go because my husband was too tired to come out. He said yes, but that they didn't have any plastic forks because i think Italian restaurants aren't like in the US, and don't normally do take out and people don't bring leftovers home. He gave me their silverware anyway, and I said I'd bring it back but he said it's ok, it's only a fork. (Gonna bring it back and eat there again!) so accommodating. Come here! It's small and quiet and delicious.

Great food. The Sicilian Bruschetta and Chicken puttanesca were great!! Would highly recommend.

We've been in Rome for 3 days, this is the first time we actually feel we gotten a good meal. It's hard to find good food in Rome, glad we found this restaurant - thank you Yelp you never fail us.

Grateful that neighboring restaurant turned us away because we didn't have reservations. This restaurant has a welcoming father and son team with a southern Italian menu. Caponata, eggplant appetizer, was new to me and I'm glad I took the waiter's suggestion to try it-----so good!! Also heard the table beside us raving over it too! This meal was the best meal we had in Rome.

    Deliciously DELICIOUS!

Just left and feeling pretty perfect at the moment. Wonderful service and excellent meal. I posted some pictures of our meal - the dishes are as delicious as they look. Check it out - you really can't go wrong here!

Fantastic dinner last night. We were walking around the back streets and came upon this place. Great find. Started with a nice white wine with an eggplant appetizer, then had the pasta carbonara. My wife had a nice pasta dish with shrimp but the name escapes me. Great, warm staff and owner. Highly recommended.

Best pasta carbonara I've had! It was delicious as was the Sicilian style bruschetta and the chicory appetizer. Delicious and different. Dessert was also a hit - we had a chocolate almond flour cake at the recommendation of our server, Alessi. I have to say he was a huge part of the positive experience we had. He was pleasant, knowledgable and fluent in at least three languages which was a great plus for him explaining the dishes to us. I would definitely recommend. It's off the beaten path but an easy walk and not far off a main drag of Via Cavour.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. Expect a wait, but it's 100% worth it for the quality of the food and service.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
