Le Saigon is a tiny little restaurant with 4 tables, and market with 1 aisle, but it's a great place to get takeout from, or to pick up Vietnamese ingredients or candy you may not find at the supermarket. I'm no expert on Banh Mi sandwiches, but Le Saigon's are delicious. Don't go in expecting Subway. Le Saigon makes them in the Vietnamese style, loaded with beef, pork, chicken or fishcake, along with carrots, cucumber and jalapenos, all on a delicious roll with a crispy crust. Their dim sum is great too, with outstanding egg rolls, sweet sesame balls, and the best steamed chicken buns I've ever had. Le Saigon also has a selection of teas, smoothies, salads, noodle dishes, and more. Le Saigon is a great place to pick up lunch or a quick dinner on your way home. Great little spot! This place specializes in sandwiches and it shows because it has some of the best banh mi I've ever had. Lots of pho restaurants serve sandwiches as an afterthought but they are on over-toasted bread with too much mayo and excessively sweet vegetables. At this place, they served soft warm bread with generous portions of juicy BBQ pork and perfectly pickled vegetables, paté, and just the right amount of mayonnaise. The prices were great! I have been coming to this place for quite a while I really do love their BBQ pork sandwiches I usually get two of them because they're so cheap and extra pork on it. Gun restaurant is one of those Vietnamese sandwich places that you find normally in the bay area or in Garden Grove. The pork bahn mi and the eggrolls are my two favorites. I been going to lees for years. I like most of the food, but her new cashier is rude. I ordered a soups and side items for my coworkers as well as myself and the cashier had the nerve to tell me she hated my big orders!!! I was insulted..if she dont want my cash there is plenty of other places that make asian style soups and sandwiches in Modesto. I now go to a place in the cross roads shopping center next to costless on carpenter road. They have a bigger menu, and they dont come at me with rude distasteful comments. I always have to debate between going here or Saigons. Though the egg rolls here are not as great as they are at saigons. Everything else wins at a landslide! Their steamed buns! I followed them from the old location. This is the best place for quality food. I love their spring rolls, and my daughter loves the mini egg rolls. You have to try an iced mocha with pearl. This place is such a hidden gem!!! The banh mi is comparable to other big name banh mi places, if not better. Having moved from large Asian populated cities with food galore, I'm so glad to have a place like this in Modesto. I like the bbq pork and nem nuong (grilled pork patty?). Their sandwiches are great, i've never enjoyed the veggie part in a sandwich like this before. It's as enjoyable as eating the meat part. The heat is great too. My boyfriend and I have been regulars here for years. I can say that although I've tried Vietnamese-style sandwiches from other places, nothing can compare to the ones they have here, especially for the price! They also have a bunch of different Asian snacks and other side dishes available, but we mainly just come for the sandwiches. I've heard the papaya is pretty good, too. I highly recommend the BBQ beef sandwich. YUM. The place is in a pretty shady area though. Also, it can be pretty slow to actually get our order, even when it's only us in the store, so we usually call our order in just so we can get in and out of there faster (especially since there are rushes sometimes). The pearl drinks are not bad, but the pearls themselves are way overcooked. I would HIGHLY doubt that the individuals working there follow proper food handling protocol. Overall, the food is good, the overall environment in which the food is cooked is definitely not-so-good. read more

So I'm updating my review. What I saw today was extremely and plain nasty. As I wait for my food. There's trash all over the floor and the smell of cat poop. Legit thought I stepped on cat poop or something. I kept looking around to figure out where it was coming from. Girl with the long silver acrylic nails wearing leggings, a purple bra and a small and I mean small Cami, scratching her leg, wiping her nose with her hands took my order. Complaining about getting bit by something on her leg. She never once washed her hands. She had no training in hand washing and cleanliness. A customer walks in behind me to order, putting her grown kid on the counter to sit. wearing dirty pajamas and barefoot with very dirty feet is now pulling all the straws out of it's holder. He thinks it's funny. His dirty feet are all over the counter now. Girl with the nails, still hasen't washed her hands and my drinks just sitting up there. And I'm deciding if I want to just get my money back and leave. Than another family walks in. And I'm just thinking "does anyone else smell the cat poop?" Walk out. And just threw the food away. Not worth the health risk. It's absolutely disgusting in there. How can I trust my food is prepped well if it gets crossed contaminated with the person handling payment, her itch and a runny nose. A little cleanliness goes a long way. Don't eat here if you value your health. read more

So went here for the first time yesterday and I would say it's definitely a bang for your buck. You can get a whole meal and be satisfied for $4. I don't know any other place besides fast food that does that. The food was good, it wasn't like the best vietnamese food ever but it was tasty and exactly what I was looking for yesterday. The staff was really nice, friendly, helpful so that was great. Bathrooms were clean and food was done promptly. Also half of the store is kind of like an asian market type thing where you can get snacks or whatever. That's pretty cool. I guess maybe one downside is that it's not in the best area, limited parking (but we got one right away), and the place is kind of small so after we got a seat a ton of people came in and then basically all the seats were taken. So what I'm trying to say is that if you just want some quick cheap good food this is your place, but it's not fancy/doesn't have any ambiance so if you eat there it's just to eat. read more

I usually get the classic #1 or #8 (unctuous pork belly goodness), hands down the best in the Central Valley and I've had Bon Mi all over, including the Bay Area. Yes, you'll have to wait, but all good things in life are worth waiting for and this place is one of them. Entitled snivelers need not apply. Besides, Le encourages her customers to call orders in.
