The patio is everything you want on a summer afternoon and their happy hour specials were amazing (like almost half off the regular prices, albeit different portions). The food was good (I had the steak frites) and the cocktails were good but a little sweet on the happy hour menu. I will definitely be back and would argue that Le Sud is worth an afternoon trip to Roscoe Village. read more

Our first visit to Le Sud was wonderful. Low-key vibe, lovely environment. Food options were exceptional. The special watermelon & feta salad was fresh and delicious. My husband scored a happy hour price ($17) for steak/frites, which was cooked to order and very flavorful. The pan-seared barramundi w/fondant potatoes and herbed butter sauce was fabulous. Blown away by this cutesy restaurant in Roscoe Village. My husband surprised me with a Friday evening reservation day before Valentine's Day. We did the 3 course meal, escargot, mussels, roasted chicken, seared barramundi, creme brûlée, bread pudding, few glasses of sangria. This added to the quaintness of Le Sud. Joseph ordered the lamb cut. He said it tasted fine. I ordered the salmon with vegetables. This fine cuisine tasted divine. The salmon came with sliced tomatoes, olives and cucumbers. We needed our meal with a New York cheesecake. Delicious. When in town, come to Le Sud. We made a reservation for a Sunday at 12pm for 6 people and were seated right away. The atmosphere is lively and cute. The main floor had Valentine's Day decor and felt very festive/would've been a cute date spot to celebrate. Food wise, I liked my burger but it was a little small. Get the brunch side of bacon - it was 3 large pieces of thick cut bacon that was very worth the price!! The shakshouka was small, and had a lot of raw tomatoes (we expected them to be cooked more into a sauce) - honestly I'd pass on it. I always pass by Le Sud since it's on the bike route I frequent. It was great. We chose the restaurant week menu for Valentine's Day. Tye interior is warm and inviting and so is the interior and decor. They got a little festive for Valentine's Day. I had the French onion soup and lamb shank. Everything was honestly cooked perfect and balanced. The lamb shank meat fell off the bone it was so tender and also saturated with the right amount of spices to accentuate the flavors of the meat. I will be coming back again! We came here for Restaurant Week 2025 and got their dinner course for $45. We tried the lamp lollipops, croquettes, and lamb meatballs for appetizers. All of them were wonderful but my favorite was the croquette. For entrees, we got the goat, crab spag, and steak & frites. I enjoyed the steak & frites because the fries were super light and crispy, and the steak was cooked perfectly and served with a herb butter. My friends loved their goat and crab spag so I would recommend those! For dessert, we tried both the cheesecake and chocolate lava cake. The staff was very friendly and helpful when explaining what we were eating. I love the interior as well. Since we came in February, the restaurant was decorated for Valentine's Day. My boyfriend and I were in town visiting friends for a long weekend. I've been to Chicago too many times to count but we always stay in Lakeview East - which is my favorite neighborhoods in Chicago. My friends just moved to Roscoe Village and they love it out there - they talk about Le Sud very highly, so we know we had to go. I would make sure when you go on a Friday night that you book a resy - we had a table of six. We started with the Tirokafteri which was this spicy feta dip and it was amazing. We wanted to find the dupe recipe as soon as we left the restaurant. The service was great, I wish I remembered the name of the server. I ordered the steak & frites, the steak was cooked to medium rare perfection. The frites were ok, nothing special but nothing bad. I would come here again just for the Tirokafteri. I went here with friends for a late Saturday brunch on a beautiful day and it did not disappoint. The patio is perfect for sitting outside in the summer and the decor inside feels very Mediterranean and French elegance. Got the quiche and it was perfectly cooked, extremely fluffy and paired with a fresh salad. All of my friends loved the option they got from the frittata to the French toast and crispy potatoes. The service was pretty good, but we did arrive around closing so it was a bit more rushed than I bet it normally is. Overall, I definitely want to return for dinner ! The food was outstanding, they have a unique mix of menu items and every single dish we tried was delicious. I didn't get as much of the typical Mediterranean sense (based on the name of this place), it had a blend of food and decor styles that built a nice dining atmosphere. We ate inside as it was super hot out, but they have a nice patio and a cool upper roof patio as well. We went there (for the third or fourth time, the past experiences were fine, not amazing, but not bad) for Mother's Day this year, and it was truly awful. We love the look and coziness of the place itself, but the food was atrocious. We ordered Shakshouka, and it arrived with huge chunks of potatoes that were uncooked, completely raw egg which was not even seared because the meal was lukewarm, not hot, like it's supposed to be, and I swear tomatoes were damped straight from a can and lukewarm. Went to Le Sud with 3 of my friends for their restaurant week menu! With this you each get a small plate, large plate, and desert. I got the octopus, filet mignon, and bread pudding. The steak was cooked perfectly and the aioli with the octopus married perfectly together. Enzo had the Iberian pork which was truly out of this world. I think this was my favorite dish of the night. The place was super cute, it's still decked out in christmas decorations and each chair had a cute lil sweater on it. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive to us and very kind. My daughter and her husband took us here last Christmas season and found the food, atmosphere and service the to be wonderful. This year we wanted to get them gift certificates to Le Sud as a present. There was some difficulty with the delivery of the certificates, so I contacted the restaurant and they put me in contact with the manager, Aaron. I have had some good "Customer Service" experiences in the past, but I have never had someone make me feel as if I were doing them a favor by allowing them to solve my problem. I was beyond pleased. Even during this crazy season for a restaurant of this caliber, Aaron went out of his way to not only solve the problem, but do so in exquisite fashion. This is probably the nicest restaurant in Roscoe Village. The venue is super cool and unique--really big space with 2 floors and interesting decor. Came here for brunch & was satisfied, especially with the crispy potatoes. Get the crispy potatoes! You won't regret it!! The egg shawarma was a tasty and healthy dish. My boyfriend and I both liked it, however, my boyfriend's shakshuka was not great. Not bad but definitely had much better shakshuka--we both agreed. The tomatoes should've been cooked longer to give the dish a deeper flavor. My mocktail, the green tea gimlet, was super tasty! It always fascinates me how places can get their mocktails to taste like there's booze in it. This restaurant was expensive, but the food was really good so I can't complain. That being said, I don't feel like I got a value for how good the food was. The ambiance is really pretty, a classic French-inspired architecture. And their flavored butters were amazing, really took the sting out of paying $5 for bread. I also appreciated that they played music quietly or not at all. It lets you have a conversation and gave a more calm atmosphere to the restaurant. All in all, this is a good restaurant. If you're the kind of person who pays for a first date and wants the bill to be high, or if you're trying to impress a bougie person, this is the perfect date spot for you. That being said, I won't be going back any time soon. There's better, more interesting food for the price. read more

I really wanted to like this experience because of my previous visit. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The escargot came with melted cheese and that's all you tasted - the cheese. The octopus was dry as if was left in the lamp for some time. The lamb osso buco was there to give the sauce texture but the lamb had no flavor. The mussels were good. Shout out to the scallops, they were excellent. Service was second to none from our server (Renee) to the busboy. I would still recommend this restaurant for several reasons. 1. It's quaint- especially with the Christmas decor(see pics) 2. Fair prices. 3. Excellent service. 4. Fine dining not withstanding tonight. I hope this was the exception, not the norm. read more

Successful date night at Le Sud for Chicago Restaurant Week 2025! First of all this place is so darn cute with the heart decorations coming from the ceiling and gorgeous wine wall staircase. You are greeted in the front near a beautiful vintage cabinet and will be promptly seated (just make sure you book a reservation in advanced)! We went with the restaurant week menu and wanted to try so many different items, we were pleasantly surprised by all the options available for the small and large plates. We ordered the Moroccan meatballs which were wonderfully seasoned and the croquettes which my husband devoured very quickly. For our mains: the classic steak frites + risotto paella. Sides: We split the broccolini. Both were flavorful, cooked well, and well portioned. Star of the show was he garlic lemon taste of the broccolini--We fought over the last piece it's that good. For desserts we had the cheesecake and lava cake. Drinks: white/red wine (smooth), French martini (amazing), le sud martinez (excellent), and espresso martini (very pleasant). An absolutely beautiful restaurant! The atmosphere inside is stunning, but still manages to feel cozy and homey. It's what I imagine a restaurant in France would be like. We dined on the patio on a lovely Saturday evening. Our server was extremely attentive and welcoming. I ordered the faux-jito, a NA twist on the classic mojito. It was perfectly light and refreshing. We started with the fresh ciabatta which was served with two types of butter. One was more savory with chives and the other was a sweet, berry butter. Both were delicious, but the berry one was the clear winner! The soft bread paired with fresh butter made for a great starter. Highly recommend! I ordered the burger for my main and really enjoyed it! The only downside was I asked for it medium well and it came out more well done, but the flavors were still super delicious. My husband went with the steak and loved it. We can't wait to dine at Le Sud again and explore more of the menu! read more

The place: pretty large spot. Was decorated to the nines for the holidays. Lots of lights and ornaments. Unfortunately one rather large and pointy ornament fell about 3 inches away from a patron in our section. Luckily no one was hurt, but not exactly in line with the festive spirit. Service was fine. The taste: the lamb lollipops were nicely done. We also shared the Brussels sprouts, steak and potatoes, and possibly one more dish. My face: not uber impressed, but overall does have kind of a sexy vibe. $150 for three of us to share some dishes and a few mocktails. 4 starts because I do think I'd go back even though it's not inexpensive.
