Went here for dinner after being in Positano for a few days and it was without a doubt the best food we've eaten all trip. We got prosciutto and mozzarella to start and shared the lamb and roasted potatoes and bucatini. It was the best lamb I've ever had. Staff was awesome too! All the food here was really, really good. All of our pasta was cooked perfect and all the sauce had great flavor and texture. Order the prosciutto and melon for appetizer and this place is spot on with how it should be done. Prosciutto cut paper thin, thick sweet slices of melon. Perfect. And they don't skimp on the prosciutto, so much in fact that I had to ration out the melon just to go bite for bite. Coffee/espresso was amazing too. Service was good and standard European. They sat us quick, took out order as soon as we figured out what we wanted. They check on you if needed, but otherwise you're left alone. I like that. read more

Staff were all very friendly and very accommodating even though we didn't have reservations. However, I highly recommend hat you make reservations in advance. House wines are legit. Wonderful meal! Minestrone soup was great and so were the pasta dishes. This street has some tourist traps but this place was far from that. Highly recommend it! We tried to come back again but I think they are closed on Monday nights. read more

Our group of 8 had a lovely flavorful meal here. You should reserve a table ahead as this is a busy place. The pasta here was absolutely to die for. I had tagliolini con limone. Pasta with a light lemon cream sauce. Oh my God, like a flavor explosion with each bite. It sounds a little odd, but if you like lemon as I do, it just worked beautifully. My boyfriend and I were in Rome for a week and came to this restaurant twice! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the waiter with the tattoos was extremely professional and recommended us the most amazing dishes and wine both nights. The wait is brutal if you don't have a reservation--they turned people away who arrived just shortly after they open at 7:30pm. That's what happens when you're a huge Yelp success... the decor is reminiscent of a classic Italian restaurant that you might find in the US: nothing too trendy, photos on the wall of notable guests, a homey feel with friendly staff and plenty of fellow lucky tourists who managed to research/stumble upon this gem. It's a little off the beaten path, but within walking distance of great sightseeing and neighborhoods. The waiters spoke English and were very funny and nice. They made the meal so enjoyable. I highly recommend this place! If you are American and visiting, just know that, as is typical with European dining, you have to ask for the check and they give you time between courses and to look at the menu. I'm very pleased with my visit to Le Tavernelle. The food was well worth it's reasonable price (the fettuccine with wild boar) and so was the wine. Came back here again for the 3rd or 4th time. Had a good experience the last time. But this time was definitely different. Same staff. Same menu. But the attitude was snarky and rude. Having reserved weeks in advance, the server at the front door pretended to not know what I was saying when I stated that we had a reservation...though my Italian is quite good and am first generation Amercan. Parents from Italy. He offered us a table in the mddle of the room. The place was empty. We asked for a table against the wall. Obviously this offended them. When we asked for a bottle of rose from Calabria, they proceeded to bring out an old, obviously corked bottle of red from Asti. It tasted like vinegar. Without apology they explained that this old, obviously spoiled red was "better" than the rose' from Calabria. OK. I get it. Somehow we angered you even though we had done nothing other than to ask for a cozier table and a bottle of rose'. I ordered what they called "crepes" with spinack and ricotta. They tasted like airline food. Heavy, dense and obviously not fresh. Sad state of affairs here for this tourist trap. They seriously do not deserve good reviews, and especially for the shabby treatment and very mediocre food. read more

I got clam pasta and it was pretty good except for the fact a clam shell broke and I had to dig it out of my pasta before I broke a tooth, it was good. The veal was the star of the night and it was perfectly tender and the roasted potatoes were seasoned wonderfully!
