My little Maltese got hit by a car recentlywhile I was taking him for a walk, attempting to cross Route 130. Since I live on Route 130 in Forestdale, I drove to Leach Animal Hospital. To say they were great with my dog is an understatement. They were fantastic. They whisked him away and I found out he was going to lose his one eye. The compassion and competence is exactly what I'm looking for in a vet. He got his stitches taken out today and is fine. Everyone who worked there got a look at him, praising him. He didn't freak out at all then or now which says something about them (and about him, I must say). I would highly recommend Leach Animal Hospital. I've changed vets pretty quickly. read more

Usually such an awesome place with amazing vets! Our little buddy saw Dr. Kimberley Khodakhah and she was rude and unprofessional. She called him a toddler and that he's spoiled because he was nervous and has anxiety. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I recently had to have my dog euthanized and brought him to Leach Animal Hospital. That was a huge mistake. Due to a number of issues and errors, what should have been a peaceful, painless last few moments of my dog's life turned into an hour and a half of my dog being terrified, physically hurt and probably wondering why we were allowing this to happen to him after all his years of love and loyalty. Leach Animal Hospital was great at one time. Unfortunately, they have become too busy, it seems, to give patients the time and caring they deserve. The vets don't want to listen. They seem to want to quickly placate you and move on to the next person. I don't know why they changed over the past year or two from a caring, compassionate animal hospital to a conveyor belt approach to care. They took something very precious from me, the opportunity to give my dog a peaceful end to his life. read more

On the way over, my cat had relieved herself from all bodily content while in the carrier. Obviously, we were both a mess when we arrived. This did not bother the staff who provided towels etc. The large front-desk/check-in area provided ample privacy and separation from other animals so that we could relax. Dr. K was on time and enormously accommodating and supportive! She clearly has a way with cats (and probably dogs)! Wish we could take her back to LA with us!! read more

I did a lot of research when I moved to the Cape to find a Vet I could trust and then when my Goldendoodle needed ACL surgery I visited 5 vets before I chose DR Leach and his hospital. He is the best and his staff is professional, caring, communicative and exceptional. I recently moved to NC when my rental was sold here and drove 22 hours back for the 2nd ACL surgery based on my trust in this team. I have been bringing both of my dogs here since Dr. Leach moved to Mashpee. He is in my opinion without question the best in the business. Today was the most perfect example when my wife and I decided it was time to put our 16 year old long haired chihuahua down. One of the toughest decisions I have had to make in my life quite frankly. From the moment we brought her in this morning I felt a calmness that I would not have felt without the compassion that was shown not only from Dr. Leach, but his entire staff. Leach Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a few friends. It wasn't the closest vet hospital to where I lived, but I was willing to drive a little further to get good care for my dog. There wasn't one thing in particular that made me leave Leach for another hospital and I definitely don't think they're not a respectable animal hospital...I guess I just felt like I got a lot more personal attention with my new vet. Just to outline a few cases of contention...after finding out our dog had heartworm disease we were told the doctor would contact us with treatment options. Weeks went by with no word and I had to call twice to finally get the doctor to call us back. While on the phone with him he had an emergency come in (totally understandable) and had to hang up on me but then I never heard back from him. A few weeks later we went in for a vaccine shot and inquired about a skin problem on the dog's foot. We were told that our appointment didn't cover that kind of service and we had to wait until the doctor could see him in about 15 minutes. An hour and a half later we frustratedly wandered around the hospital with no one coming by to tell us how much longer it would be and finally just left. I don't doubt that they do good medicine at Leach, but when pet health care starts resembling what most of us despise about human health care, I'll keep shopping around. read more

My family was at the Cape for a vacation with our Weimaraner. He got a puncture wound in his side on a Saturday. I called around to many vets, none of which would take him because most of them close at noon. I called Leach Animal hosp (40 mins away) and they gladly took him. The staff was so professional and nice. We had our dog back home by 3 PM. Even with meds, a sedative and stitches, the prices were very very reasonable. I would highly recommend. As a matter of fact I am going to have my second dog's records sent to the hospital in case we ever need them for her. read more

We just had to make the toughest decision to put our 13 year old lab mix down. i can't say enough about how helpful and compassionate Dr. leach and his staff are. He helped me try to keep her going (hip dysplasia) but was very realistic and practical about her prognosis. there are so many vets out there who will just take your money or manipulate you into feeling like abad person because you don't want to shell out thousands for your pet. thank God there are still those around with common sense AND compassion. Both Dr. Leach and Dr. Geller are the most competent, compassionate, thorough veterinarians I have met in my 60 years of pet ownership. It is well worth the 80 mile drive to see that my beloved dogs and cat have the best of care over the past 8 years. Given a thorough explanation of the diagnosis and options, I'm allowed to make all the decisions in my pets care, without subjecting them to a lot of unnecessary, costly tests. We took our 12 year old Lab with cancer to see Dr. Leach while staying at the Cape, and the care she received was amazing. I felt like we had been going there since she was a puppy. The staff was caring and concerned and would fit us in when we needed to bring her in for emergencies. When the end came, we took her in and the compassion of the staff was incredibly comforting. I have been going to Leach for almost a year with all my dogs. I have 4, and while 3 haven't had to visit much, one in particular has. He has had a lot of trouble with his legs, and has had to visit numerous times. I moved from FL, and loved loved loved my vet there. I didn't know if I'd be able to find another vet nearby that I loved as much as the old one. But, when I first moved, I went to Mashpee Animal Clinic, and wasn't happy with my experiences there. I ended up going to Leach, because an emergency happened while in Mashpee, and they referred me to Leach since it wasn't too far. I was much happier. It's kind of like with kids, you look for a facility that has nice appeal inside and out, along with the staff being friendly and caring, like you would look for a daycare center or school for your child. I feel the same way about my vet. This facility is fairly new, has several exam rooms, and sometimes 2 vets on at once, which makes an "emergency" or walk-in need very accommodating. The girls on the staff are really nice, and I truly feel they care about my dogs, comforting them when they are nervous. My dogs have seen Dr. Leach only a few times, and he is very experienced and trust-worthy. For the most part, we've seen Dr. Gellar. She is very kind, and loves my dog like he was her own! I am so happy I found a vet that even surpasses the one I had in FL. The best part is, they are only a few minutes from my house! I definitely recommend them. Vet costs I'd say are comparable to any other vet around, when you have to pay out of pocket expenses for blood work, or x-rays. They also spend a lot of time with us, which is nice so I don't feel rushed in and out. Paying a vet bill is expensive, and sometimes comes in an unforseen circumstance. It's nice to at least go to a vet where you feel that they take time with you and your dog. read more

My wife and I just recently had to put down our buetiful dog Samantha of 10 yrs. due to health issues. I have to say from my experience Dr. Leach's staff is fantastic. We came in as an emergency add on visit.. We arrived at a busy time in the morning on a saturday and were met at the door by staff ready to bring us right in. The staff's assessment and detail in explanation of our pup's health concern's were top notch.After being told that our dog was critical and told all our options, we needed to make that hard decision that no dog owner wants to make.We went back in the exam room and talked it over. Throughout the whole process we felt not only comfortable for ourselves but for our pet. In such a hard time of saddness and pain we were cared for in every way possible and the on call vet. was so very nice. I wish I could remember her name, she was great.I truly can't say enough about the folks at leach animal hospital, they made one of the saddest days for our family a little bit easier. read more
