I was part of the party with Kathy, and needed to also share my experience. Cigar bar, so even though I'm not a smoker, I'm not going to complain about that aspect. I was hopeful the food would help me forget about that. The absolute worst service ever though! For an appetizer, I ordered (as did most of the table) the French onion soup, which was really good actually. However, I had to ask the waitress about the chicken quesadillas I also ordered, and she said they were coming up. (They did show up eventually). But in the middle of enjoying our appetizers, someone in our party had to ask the waitress if we could order our meals. I thought it was strange that she hadn't taken our order for dinner before apps even came out, but still wasn't too concerned. Yes, the 2+ hour wait for a meal was absolutely true, and ridiculous. We had reservations for 7:00, and at 9:00, there was still no sign of our meals. Someone in our party inquired, and the waitress assured us that our ticket was in the window, and we would get it in 10 minutes. Nope. We just asked for our checks. The manager came over and said there was a "technical glitch" that she wasn't made aware of. Really? So the human aspect, the fact that our waitress, and you, as the manager, couldn't see for yourselves that a large party was sitting around for hours with no food wasn't sufficient?! The manager offered us gift cards for a future return, to which someone in our party rightfully protested, "I don't want to come back here." After this entire debacle, we all received our checks, and as Kathy noted in her review, were not comped a dime for this horrendous experience. read more

We came to have dinner and the menu was diverse and looked good but the actual food was terrible. The seafood patinesca was served with the clams raw. They did send out cooked clams but the wait time for food was excessive when there was only a few tables to serve. We waited almost an hour after ordering. My wife and I shared the warm Kale Salad and both had the Steak Frites. A perfect medium rare sirloin with a smooth horseradish sauce served with truffle oil fries and brussel sprouts. We both really enjoyed the meal. The Havana Cocktail my wife had was was essentially a mint julip with dark rum and vanilla vodka rather than whiskey. She loved it. This is the first time I have ever posted a review and I wish it was to pass on my good experience. I have refrained from posting a review for this eatery in spite of repeated disappointments. In my 6 or more visits, the menu has changed four times and never for the better. I frequent the site primarily because of the cigar friendly accommodations and have always considered the food as secondary. Never the less, a quick tour of their website, menu, decor and pricing creates the expectation of a fine dinning experience. Unfortunately, it falls short at almost every level. The wait staff is poorly trained and the kitchen has proven to be consistently inconsistent. The drinks are rarely the same and more than once I was served the completely wrong drink. Twice entrees have showed up with substitution and no explanation. A steak grinder sandwich which was supposed to be served on a toasted steak roll showed up on a cold hamburger bun. Most recently, the menu lists a la cart salads with sides for an additional cost. My guest ordered the addition of shrimp to their salad and it arrived with "one" lonely shrimp. When the Manager visited our table, we expressed our disappointment at the new "limited" selections on the menu. We inquired about the previous menu which had some of our favorites and nothing more was offered or discussed. When we moved to the lounge area for cigars, we noticed a group of diners at a nearby table had items from the bar menu. Apparently the bar fare was still available but it was never offered. My post is prompted by the experience of poor service, lack of communication and inconsistency. I have not discussed the quality or taste of the food since I believe taste is subjective and individual. What is not subjective is good or bad service. My guests and I have made the resolution that in the future, we will first eat elsewhere, and then visit Leaf for possibly coffee and cigars only. Sadly, our contribution to Leaf will go from the usual $35 to $40 per person to maybe $7 to $12. Very Unfortunate. read more

I have been going here for a while now with a group of friends. They recently redid the menus and although the food is okay, it is more like going to a corner bar and having burgers and fried food. The burgers are pretty boring and though I think they are "new" to the Leaf menu, these burgers such as the one I think they are searching as a "cowboy" burger is all over the place. However, I had one of the specials Friday, November 22, 2013 that was absolutely amazing! I had the monk fish with grilled asparagus. The combination of seasonings and the salsa on the monk fish which was wrapped in a banana leaf was fantastic. Serving up this kind of food is going to get Leaf the name it deserves. Kudos to the Chef, our server told us he was new to the kitchen, glad he is there and can't wait to try more of his creations. Have him keep making the specials and we will be continuing to come there with our friends! Its always nice to come to an upscale place and get great food versus the pub grub burgers. Normally adequate food and reasonable service, but today was an absolute mess. Literally two hours from start to finish. Cheesesteak sliders were burnt to a crisp, dry, tasteless. I love this restaurant! Although I don't have a cigar every time I am there, I simply don't mind when others are smoking and I am not. The ventilation is truly state of the art. I live in Carlisle, and wanted a place to go enjoy a day out with friends and have dinner and enjoy a cigar or two. My wife and good friend drove out hearing about the Leaf from some friends. We got there and the appetizers with the red peppers are amazing. Highly recommended. I enjoy a good sandwich so I ordered the Philly steak, my wife had a salad, and my buddy had the other steak sandwich. French fries all around were awesome. Also a treat to smoke cigars while enjoying good food and good surroundings. We even made some conversation with some others. Will be back again because there is nothing like this in the Carlisle area. Plus a great place to stock up on cigars with people who enjoy their jobs. read more

This place really went downhill. The last time we came it was so good that we came back for my birthday - big mistake. The menu changed and the service was slow. They took an 8:00 reservation and later told us we might be not be able to get us everything we asked for since the kitchen closed at 8:30. The steak was over cooked and shouldn't have cost $30 with coleslaw and fries on the side. The waitress took smoke breaks and sat with other friends/guests while we were waiting for service. We were prepared to order dessert,after dinner drinks, and cigars but it seemed like an inconvenience to them since the waitress said the kitchen staff already left. Don't think we will be coming back here. Not sure if there are new owners or management, but really a shame. read more

all i can say is WOW. what a unique experience. If you're in the area, definitely try Leaf over any other restaurant. Worth the trip.

I love cigars, food, and beer. This place has all that and more. Lets talk about the quality of food first. The Leaf has a their standard menus for both lunch and dinner, with specials for lunch and dinner as well. Lunch specials include a special sandwich and a cup of soup, plus a soft drink. $6, you can't beat that. You can't get that at a fast food joint. Here you are getting a freshly prepared hand cooked, quality meal. I have had quite a few things on the menu. The Tuna Tataki is fabulous! The Lamb chops are second to none, the Red Bliss Ribeye steak is to die for. It is a meal that will rival any high end steakhouse in NY (and trust me I am originally from NY so I know what I am saying!). The dessert are awesome as well. You have to try the Pecan Cheese cake, it was decadent. There is and extensive list of beer, wine and signature cocktails to choose from, but I like beer. With about 9 taps that change almost daily, there is always something cold and refreshing to drink. Staff is great as well. Now for all you nonsmokers out there that are scared of this place, there is a state of the art air filtration system that totally exchanges the air about 10 times in one hour. What does that mean to you the non-smoker, guess what you will not smell any smoke and you can enjoy your meal and your drink in peace. That will give you the chance to talk to use cigar smokers and see that we are great people. Now put what I just said all together for the cigar smoker and what do you have..... Shangri-la! It is a cigar smokers paradise. They even do cigar sponsored dinners, where the cigar manufacturers sit down and have an intimate meal with about 50 to 60 people. Very exclusive. Leaf is getting 2 stars from me. The only reason is because of the server Dana and the ambiance. It is a very neat set up and very casual. The food...not so good, in fact I would say horrible. I had the sirloin, I asked for it blackened but it was so seasoned it was hard to eat. I have gotten steak before and it was never this bad. My friend had Ribs, he gave me some and we both thought they were horrible. He struggled to get them off the bone. I believe a caveman could have gotten food easier. The only thing that saved it from 0 stars was what I stated above. I will go back to try the buglers or chicken fingers, I feel this is something their cooks can do. If you want a good steak or ribs....go somewhere else. read more

However, this restaurant is in such an odd location that I would only consider coming in if I was planning to have a cigar and watch a game. Last time I ate at Leaf's was in 2012. Decided to go back this past Fri night. I enjoyed my Cosmo - it was made just right. Not many places in this area can make one well. For app I had the duck spring rolls. The meat was very tender, and the roll itself was juicy and flavorful. I had the steak frites medium. It was a nice tender cut, cooked correctly, seasoned well so I enjoyed it with the fries which also had a nice chive-parm seasoning. The brussel sprouts were excellent and I almost asked for more but I was too full. I ordered creme brûlée which I could only eat a few spoons because I was full. My husband finished the rest. The dessert was large portion and was cartelized just right, but was not one of the best I've tasted but still very good. The waitress was helpful and friendly. I don't smoke so I only went because of my husband who does smoke cigars. The smoke is not so noticeable after a few minutes and I didn't mind it when I was enjoying my meal. I know it is a cigar bar so my rating is only on the food, service, and atmosphere. I will probably frequent this place every month now with my husband and try some other things on their menu. read more

The server was just absolutely and incredibly nasty. We were not rude to her whatsoever and did not understand why. I do not usually give out five stars but this place hit on the nose. I have been here for their cigar festival at the end of June which is fun and crazy. I went here just to have a beer and grab a bit to eat on a day off. I was very pleased with the service and selection. I also purchased some great cigars at a great price. The people working there where very helpful. It was nice to smoke inside and then move outside in the sun, I would suggest this to anyone that likes an occasional cigar. Me and a cigar smoking group of friends had gone out for a holiday cigar dinner for the last few years to the Smoke Chophouse in northern NJ where you could smoke right at the table. Unfortunatly it shut down so we had to look for a new place to keep the tradition alive. We came across The Leaf and decided to give it a try. We went late afternoon on 12/23 with a group of 9. We were seated right away, but we were pretty much the only table occupied with a few scattered people at the bar watching the football games. The atmosphere was nice the service was good. Not great, but good. The main issue is that the place was out of, or almost out of, many things. The had only 2 steaks from the dinner menu to serve (not two different types of steak, but two physical steaks left to serve), 5 Au Poivre steak servings, along with several other main course & appetizer menu items not available. They did offer the steak from the lunch menu to us, and the guys who did order it said it was good, but it wasn't really what they were looking for. I had the french onion soup as an appetizer, and while it was tasty, it was very salty. The table shared some appetizers to pass around and the presentation was very unique. They were served in cigar boxes which was a nice touch. The hog's wings were phenomenal, highly recommended. Although I didn't have any the guys who had the chile said it was great. I had the veal chop as my main course and it was good, very tasty. Because of the items not available some of the group got burgers and sandwiches. The guys who had the burgers all said they were better then average and were happy with their meal. Moving on to dessert I saw that they had my favorite, creme brule, but guess what- they were out of it. They were also out of bananas to make bananas foster with so that was also off the list to choose from. I did order a molten chocolate lava cake though, and that was a winner all the way. Just keep in mind that it take 20 minutes to prepare (that's normal for anywhere), but well worth the wait. It would easily hold up to one served at Mortons or any other upscale steakhouse. The waitress also made a fresh pot of coffee for the group so that was thumbs up too. Also, by the time we ordered dessert we had noticed that the place had filled up. The bar was full and there was only one table left open so people are going here to eat. In addition the cigar lounge area was top notch and the humidor was quite large and had a great selection. Even with the issues mentioned above I would absolutely come here again and give them another shot. PS-there was a good mix of people there, young and old, men and women. read more

Eight of us went to Leaf yesterday for a jazz/brunch. The music was great but the smoke and odor of cigars was overpowering. Leaf was written up in a local newspaper and in the article it was mentioned that they had an air filtration system that would allow non-smokers to enjoy the place. Not so. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary, service was very slow and the room was so filled with smoke that it became difficult to breath. When we left several of us had sore throats, watery eyes and I had a fierce headache. How even smokers tolerate the atmosphere is beyond me. Will not go back especially when this area, the Lehigh Valley, has some of the best restaurants around. Definitely leaving this place to the smokers...enjoy it. read more

I frequent Leaf weekly as it is the last bastion of freedom for a cigar smoker. What keeps me coming back is the great food, 10 rotating taps of craft beer, hundreds of bottles of craft beer, wine, scotches, and bourbon's The atmosphere is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The service is great, except as with most restaurants when filled to capacity it slows down. My wife does not enjoy cigar smoking; however she will join me since they have great air replacement system that actually replaces the air in building several times an hour. So she will let me smoke a cigar at the table. The Humidor At Leaf (AKA Famous Smoke Shop) which is directly adjacent to the restaurant has a 2000 square walk in humidor, whether you know what you want or if you want something new the Humidor staff with help you with your needs. There is also a small humidor in the restaurant with a decent selection of cigars. read more

Visited this restaurant for the first time during Easton's Restaurant Week. The restaurant décor is beautiful. The food was horrible and a waste of money. I ordered a medium-well steak that was absolutely charred. I couldn't eat it and took it home to feed my dogs and actually didn't because it was burnt so badly. I did not send it back because I was afraid of what the staff might do to another steak. I was so disappointed because I had visited 2 other restaurants for the first time during the same week and was thrilled with both of them, not Leaf though. read more
