I reached out to Leak on Lock and a few other water-heater-related plumbing companies. We needed a very old solar water heater on the roof drained and capped off from the water heater so that the roofing company could safely remove it. Mike from Leak on Lock responded immediately and gave me a quote based on the pictures and videos I sent him. Then we talked on the phone and discussed the option of replacing the water heater as well since it was nearly 23 years old. With more pictures to that end, he gave me what I considered a very fair price for the new Rheem 40-gallon water heater, the same as what we currently have, with a new basin, as well as capping off the lines going to and from the solar water heater. All these discussions were completed on Thursday morning. I then told Mike that my husband and I would sleep on it. I texted Mike right after noon the next day to approve the project. He ordered the unit, came the following Tuesday shortly after 9 AM, and completed the project by noon. We were about an hour without water. The hot water was ready before he left, and the lines were cleanly capped off. He had to drain not only the water heater but also about 40 gallons in the solar heater on the roof. The only extra was the cost of a valve, which was $65. Mike never took a break, worked diligently on the hot day, and completed the work faster than we had expected. He then gave us a detailed overview of the water heater and its warranties. I wholeheartedly recommend Mike for any plumbing projects. I plan to call him for other projects I have in mind, including some in the kitchen. read more

With Christmas and the New Year of 2026 coming up (just prior).... my water heater (very old) decided to stop working. Perfect timing.
