My husband and I decided to try out the Leaping Lizard Cafe on a nice summer evening after hearing a good review from a friend. I ordered the Linguini Lizard Salad made with shaved zucchini on a bed with lettuce, tomatoes, and South Carolina peaches and my husband ordered the fish tacos which were made with Mahi Mahi, cabbage slaw, and a cream sauce. We both enjoyed our dinner, I especially liked the Basil Vinaigrette. And the best part of the evening was the Peaches N' Cream Cake to top off a perfect meal. Highly recommend going!! read more

The fried green tomato BLT is amazing! Hubby had the B'eggel and it was also outstanding. Eclectic place with an awesome vibe. We sat outside on the back porch and loved the atmosphere. First time and last time here. Our dining experience was a birthday brunch with a group of friends and kids. I am not sure what all the hype and rave in the reviews are all about, (maybe I had high expectations) but my experience was bad. Let me just say my coffee cup had a fresh lipstick mark on the rim and dried drips of coffee. Gross x2. Second cup...dried coffee drips again. Made me go "hmmmm" the entire time. I wonder how clean the kitchen is? oh geeze, when did they last sanitize...anything? Food wise, the menu is weak hipster. The pancakes are not pancakes and the kids menu is a joke. Had lunch there today, food was good. Server's attitude NOT SO MUCH. We did get there 1/2 hour before closing, but that doesn't give the server the right to rush us. People came in after us and didn't seem to be as rude to them. She also didn't give me the right change. Am not sure if I will go back again. If it were up to me, I'd leave the gift shop behind and move the restraurant into a building better suited for the crowds you attrack in an area a little easier to get in/out of, with ample parking. The food was really good and priced affordably. The portion was HUGE. However I wouldn't use words like outstanding or fantastic to describe this place. To be fair I had high expectations after seeing the resturant featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives and that might be skewing my experience just a tad. The service was pretty crappy. We waited for a ridiclous long time for our food, our dessert and for the check....all together it was close to an hour and 40 mins. The waitress didnt refill drinks. ...or anyone's for that matter and was just generally unfriendly. The carrot cake, however more than made it for it. It was outf***ingstanding and made the whole experience worth it. While I prob won't be be coming back for lunch I will be making the trip for some more of that cake. read more

Wow! This place is such a great stop for some healthy food! I had the grilled chicken pesto sandwich. I can say this with confidence; that was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Seasonal Local dishes in a laid back atmosphere. You would drive right past if you weren't looking for it. The fall sandwich is great with butternut squash wilted spinach, caramelized onions and manchengo cheese, on homemade bread. The chicken salad sandwich is also good with a peach chutney to add some sweetness and nicely shredded chicken. It will be busy so don't be in a rush. There is also a small boutique a couple steps next door with all types of nick-nacks. Definitely a great local spot. read more

Favorite place in the area! We are weekend regulars at this point. The bakery is amazing..the little produce stand in the back with the chickens is just too cute.... and I think I'm obsessed with the dressing they put on the salads :) I have not "absolutely loved" every single thing I've gotten at a place in forever. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at LL tonight. After the hype I heard about the fresh food and novelty of food choices, I was eager to spend the time there with family. Unfortunately, it was so frustrating I started this review while still in the restaurant. They messed up our reservation, but were able to seat us easily. The service was extremely slow; we had to ask the hostess to take care of our table twice since our server was nowhere to be found. The food (sandwiches) took an hour to come out of the kitchen and it was nothing special. Not worth visiting. read more

My sister took me to this place for lunch on my birthday. I have never heard of it but she has from this show on the food Network which is true because they had a sign on their wall with the show's name. The interior is very unique, comforting, and warm. We sat in their enclosed back deck patio which was really tight, but we had seven in our party so they accommodate us the best they could. I had the Hunter burger with a potato salad side. The burger and the fixin' on it was really delicious. The only complaint I had was the bun on it was too large that it overpowered the taste of the meat which I feel as a carnivore the important part of a burger. The potato salad was REALLY good and wouldn't mind more servings of it. I did get dessert since it was my birthday which is a ganache cake. HOLY CRAP it was deadly... meaning I can probably eat a whole cake instead of a slice because it didn't give a fattening feeling and it was SO good!!! The service was really friendly and very hospitable. I definitely would return but try something different than the Hunter burger. I would definitely order dessert again too. read more

Great food, unique "out in the country" feel, chickens and all. (I personally, Love the chickens) pretensious it is NOT, just understaded simpllicity with good food. They could add seating, a few air moving fans and they would be even better. In the summer it's hot between the two buildings, like HOT..even with two overhead fans. Only 2 things I wish they had 1) liquor and 2) better bathroom placement, dining area is so small and bathrooms are right next to seating area, you can hear everything going on in there. Great find for very good food. We went after a long day and night of work. We got seated inside a coolly outfitted dining area, service was prompt and they were fairly busy for a sun at 1 pm. Perhaps an alternative name should be - Crawling Waterbug Cafe!!! Honestly, I had no idea what a waterbug looks like but now I do - its identical to a cockroach! We went for lunch and thought the place was cute- the food was also good but the customer service needs some real improvement. After looking at the menu I grabed my purse I had placed on the floor and couldnt believe it but I had placed it on top of a live giant waterbug - I showed the waitress and she had someone come and kill it. We ordered cocktails and lunch. During our lunch the waitress came to check on us and another huge waterbug came crawling out from behind a picture on the wall right next to my shoulder since our table was up againts that wall - I jumped and the waitress ran to get someone to come kill it- neither time did she apologize or offer to change our seats. When the bill came I asked her if she could compensate us one of the cocktails due to the bug experience and she said no but would ask. She came back and told us that this resturant is in a tree area and that the mgr said its just part of eating here. I am still shocked- seriously not just one but two giant waterbugs (which are identical to cockroaches) which affected our overall experience and a simple request to comp. us a drink to help us turn around a negative experience. As a former waitress my mgr would have been coming to the table himself to apologize and offer at least a complimenary drink or dessert. Truely just an acknowledgement from the mgr alone and I would not have written a negative review. I get bugs are around but if the health dept visited I know they would not be ok with seeing two lg waterbugs by food/in the dining area! So bottom line ... resturant is cute and unique- food was good ....but only go there if you have a liking for waterbugs and if you are ok with less than stellar customer service!! read more
