I'm not usually one to leave negative reviews because I know how tough the restaurant industry can be. Im also usually a huge fan of Stockpot, as I frequent the one in Norfolk. I'm a chef myself and travel to different restaurants regularly, so I try to be understanding. That said, the service we experienced yesterday at Stock Pot was unfortunately some of the worst I've had in quite a while. We sat outside, and it honestly felt like we were being deliberately ignored. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet we had to wait long stretches just to get basic things. At one point near the end of our meal, we asked for a box and our check. Instead of bringing it over, the waitresses stood around talking with other waitresses, while we continued to wait. After sitting there for quite a while, we eventually had to ask for the check and box, a second time. Throughout the meal the service was inconsistent. We had three different waitresses checking on us, but were left to sit for about 30 minutes alone at one point, and it took almost 20 to have our order taken, once we ordered, we had to request our appetizer again, after waiting another 20 or so minutes. Upon asking, again, we found out they were out of part of the appetizer we ordered. After that it came out quick. The food, however, was excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. That's why this review is disappointing to write -- the kitchen is clearly doing a great job. I just hope the service side improves, because it didn't match the quality of the food. read more

While working at a conference at the VA Convention Center, some colleagues requested I come here with them for lunch, they said they had been before and it was really good. When we got there, at lunchtime on a weekday, they were packed, but there were a few seats open at a hightop, which we took. Service was great and attentive, as well as helpful as she offered great suggestions and explained how various dishes were made. I tried a cup of their red bean and ham soup (it was the soup du jour) as well as their open face chicken salad sandwich and both were very good. They were both made fresh, in-house with fresh ingredients. Flavors were great too. I really liked the touch of having Dijon mustard on the chicken salad sandwich. It had been a while since being here but im so happy I went recently. The chicken noodle is very good (what i used to purchase regularly with bone broth to go!) lots of cilantro! This time I had the special which was a Ramen dish... kimchi coconut chicken something....see my picture. It was awesome and i took a lot home, had leftovers twice! Also remember the squash soup being amazingly delicious and the minestrone (on special). The service as always was super friendly, attentive and helpful! They were working hard on that monday!! My girlfriend loves this business. Specifically during the time of year because of what? You guessed it! That damn peach and halloumi salad. I can't say anything tho. Every time we go I get the bacon egg and cheese and it is tasty. The service is good, the upstairs and downstairs have a swanky lil feel to them. I feel like if you wanna have a good meal go here. Great spot! I've been here twice and have had good experiences. More recently, I got the avo toast-- this was delicious and I would order it again (they were super generous with the avocado which I appreciated. The balsamic-like taste also made it tasty). The brookie I ordered was quite dry and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. When the waitress said they had hot chai, I was expecting a latte not a cup of tea, but I guess that was on me. Last time, I got the chicken noodle soup which was super flavorful and unique. The staff is very friendly. The vibe of the restaurant is cool too-- very warm and relaxing. This is probably my 10th visit in the past year alone. I absolutely love this place. Especially on a day with perfect weather, you can sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy mimosas! Mimosas 5/5: I've lost track of all the flavors I've tried. But my favorite is the lavender! OG fried rice 6/5: I can't help but get the same dish every time. It's just too good. The rice is so good and crispy! Rosemary biscuits 5/5: I first tried this with their soup of the day. In the fall they have butternut squash soups. They'll had a small cut of their biscuit to the order. You can order the biscuits alone, they're sooooo good and made fresh. They also have drink happy hours each day of the week' not sure what times since I never make it. Breakfast specials from 7-10am, includes coffee and sandwich for only $7! They also have food specials such as ramen or paella. I just follow along on social media to find out the special. Limited but free parking. Otherwise street parking but very walkable and close. I visited the Stockpot twice in one day! I was in the area for a conference and stopped in before for breakfast. My avocado toast was very hefty and hearty. The bacon was divine. I came back with the group I was with for lunch. I had the Cypress sandwich and soup. Very much so recommend the mushroom miso soup and my country ham sandwich was very good. Everyone in my group also enjoyed their meals. We got there before noon and were seated quickly. As we were leaving, around 12:30 it was quite busy and there was a wait. Surrounded by happy house plants and nice decor and wonderful culinary scents, this place was the best find in Virginia Beach ever...! Perfect day for soup! Wet, and dreary outside! I was in the mood for some soup and The Stockpot did not disappoint!! I ordered the soup de jour it was their take on chicken and dumplings instead of dumplings it's their delicious biscuits! The soup had great flavor lots of chicken and vegetables (peas, carrots, celery, and onion) the usual! I definitely recommend!! I should of ordered the larger portion! Great option for brunch! I stopped in for a solo brunch on Father's Day. They were having a special steak and eggs entree for the holiday so I went ahead and got that. I came here for breakfast and lunch several times while I was in Virginia Beach. For breakfast, I dined in and ordered the scrambled egg. It was tasty and the portion was just right -- not too small and not too filling. For lunch, I ordered the OG fried rice for takeout. It does take a while for them to cook everything so call ahead if you do not want to wait long. The smell of the fried rice was amazing. The rice they use was almost a crispy brown rice which added so much more depth and flavor to the whole dish. The chicken wasn't fry and marinated just right. All the ingredients were super fresh. Every time we have come to The Stockpot we have been greeted immediately and seated in our choice of seating. They have inside and outside seating. We really like inside. It is a little pricey but for the quality of food and drink is good. The flights of different drinks are fun. I cannot resist a flight of anything. We have also gotten the specialty lemonades. YUM. Last time we were there they offered a flight of coffee. I will be getting that next time, for sure. OOO and they come up with special drinks and flights for seasonal. So make sure you check out every season. Let's talk about the food. The menu changes. I always like looking at the special board. The smoked salmon toast is A-M-A-ZING!!! Lots of flavor and very fresh toppings. Soups are always great. Not only delicious but the presentations is so pretty. We have also had bowls. Everything is always seasoned nicely. I have really enjoyed the flavors of everything we have had this past couple of years. Service here is my favorite. Very Friendly. We have had many different servers and all have been great. Sometimes we have questions and they take time to answer and they always look like they enjoy working at The Stockpot. Oh and I like the live plants inside and that big beautiful mirror. Ehhhh, it was ok, I was hoping it would be blow your socks off type of food. The kiddos got the peanut butter and homemade jelly (3 out of 10), kids chicken noodle soup (3.5 out of 10), and we got the gyro with the lamb patty. This is where it got annoying, we asked to do an add on of falafel which would have been an extra 3.25 but instead they charged us for the gyro falafel and added the lamb patty for an extra 8.25. That was an extra 5.00 that they didn't tell us until I left the restaurant and looked at my receipt. We spent 70 dollars on 2 main entrees and 2 kids meal. I understand inflation but I don't understand straight cheating for 5.00. read more
