We came to the Lebanon Gin Mill for a dinner while visiting Lancaster for a soccer showcase. We gave it a go after reading several really good reviews. The restaurant is settled in the middle of a neighborhood. Our server was super friendly and attentive. We asked what she would recommend, since the menu is different and pretty extensive. We settled on Salmon, a steak, the crab BLT, and the smokehouse chicken sandwich. We also did a small order of their loaded fries (which are highly recommended). Everything we had was pretty good. The Gin Mill was just okay for me. The place is old and in need of repair. The table rocked like a boat it was so unstable and the chairs are simply not comfortable. Food is also just okay. She got burnt end Mac and cheese and I got the jack Daniel's chicken. Now, there was nothing wrong with the food, it tastes good for the most part it just sits really heavy, there doesn't seem to be much concern with calories. The lobster bisk had no lobster in it and the pickled vegetables were more sweet than dill, kind of a miss in my book. The drinks were odd, my pineapple margarita tasted so strong like an old fashioned or something. Her rum runner tasted like just juice and no alcohol. We actually ended up dumping some of her into mine and it turned out better than either was before. I think I'll try someplace else next time. read more

What a great place hidden away in Lebanon, PA!!! The Gin and Tonic we had with our dinner was a great compliment to the name of the restaurant, and the food was amazing as well! We enjoyed the Korean Pork Dumplings appetizer so much that we nearly canceled our steak order to have a few extra plates of the dumplings, but the steaks were as good as we hoped so nothing was lost. What an amazing place! They have all kinds of beer selections in varieties across the spectrum. The service was fantastic and the waitresses were on the top of their game. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure you had a fantastic dining experience. They were running a Saint Patrick's Day week of specials. There's a fantastic food selection with incredible dishes served fast. Everybody came by the table to make you feel like you belonged to this place as if you were a regular, even if you're coming in from out of town. I was looking for a new home to live and was headed home to Philly area but was searching for a place to eat and relax. Well I liked the look and name of the restaurant. I definitely made the right decision! I didn't want anything to heavy before the long drive home. I chose the Quesadillas which were excellent and still had some for when I arrived home. While I was trying to decide what to eat, I was thinking about next time I would be eating here because there were so many different kinds of food to try. Came here for Happy Hour on a Sunday and trivia and had a blast! The Spaghetti Balls are $8 on the happy hour menu and are so delicious! They are creamy spaghetti, noodles, bald up, and fried- So so good! Ashley, our bartender, was a delight, plus Cheaters Never Prosper was hosting trivia at the time, which we played and enjoyed. My steak... eh, let's just say it made me wish I'd gone for the salmon. Speaking of which, the two at my table who ordered salmon with honey mustard haven't stopped talking about it (I'm starting to worry they'll write it love letters). Ordered tuna ahi tacos, first bite cleared my sinuses and made me feel like I got sprayed with mace. Tasted and smelled like industrial brake cleaner. Couldn't even get the guy next to me to try it because of the smell. So if you feel like spending 17 dollars to get a handful of potato chips and two floor cleaner tacos that have about 4 pieces of tuna between the 2 of them come here. Came here for lunch before leaving Lebanon. I really enjoyed the deviled egg and Brussels sprouts appetizer.. I would come back for the Brussels Sprouts alone, but the crabcake BLT I had was super salty. Crab already has salt naturally.. I think the cook needs to remember this, because the amount of salt in that thing was super almost inedible. I was with family and didn't want to make a big deal so I ate the bread and a little of the crabcake inside. The server was friendly and nice, she checked on us a few times, nothing but five star service. Everyone else seemed pretty happy with their food (most couldn't finish because the portions are huge). We brought our daughter and a friend here for dinner. We were seated at a very large table in the bar area / the hostess said it was the only open table available! We started with the cheesesteak egg rolls and the drunken clams. The clams were very good - loved the broth they were in! The egg rolls were hot and delicious. For dinner we had the burnt ends mac n cheese, wings, Gin mill mac, and a cup of clam chowder, and a ribeye. LOVED the Gin mill Mac n cheese / so cheesy and filling I could not finish it. The burnt ends Mac n cheese hit the spot with the crunchy burnt ends mixed with the pasta and cheese!! The wings were good and the soup too. The ribeye was cooked properly but didn't have much flavor. Our server / I think her name was Jordan was very good. Apologized for making us wait a while after we were seated. After dinner we ordered a couple glasses of Cabernet and the bartender said this was all they had left and gave us each a half a glass on the house. Made a reservation at the Gin Mill to have a steak dinner. Started with the devil eggs and caprese mozzarella apps. Both were very good. I would recommend that the they offer more than one basil leaf for the four fried cheese slices. I ordered the house salad with Catalina dressing. I love this dressing. Perfect size side salad. For the main, I ordered the Flat Iron steak Med Rare. The steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered the sweet potato mash instead of the garlic mash with the steamed broccoli. Overall, the sides were okay, but the steak had an excellent flavor. If you are on the East end of Cumberland street, stop in for a nice meal. read more

I was just visiting Lebanon, PA and I stopped into the Gin Mill. What a jewel this place is! Great food, speedy and polite service, and a really cool vibe old tavern atmosphere. I'm sure when it's not 25 degrees, the outdoor seating is great. They had a slew of craft beers in all groupings with about 15 on tap and others in bottles and cans. I had a Belgian Strong Ale Mason, the server-bartender poured for me. He was just on point for everything and you could just tell everyone was enjoying their time here. I had a brisket and blue cheese sandwich that was really tasty. I would suggest the strawberry BBQ on the side next time since it competes to much (IMHO) with the other flavors. Friendly and quick service although it did seem like the waitress did not know the menu well as she seem suprises by what some dishes looked like stating she never saw the dish before. Food: the food was very good. We tried the special appetizer of the week the boudin bites which were very tasty. The fried pickle appetizer left something to be desired and I probably wouldn't get them again. The bbq chicken was quite tasty and had a good mix of flavors however I could of used more bbq sauce on it. The steak is decent. Not the best I have had but also not the worst. This place was delicious! Everything you want in a bar with some great upscale options. My little guys enjoyed the kids menu and my older son and I split appetizers. We had the burnt ends, Brussels and gin mill fries. Everything was delicious and they had any liquor you could want. Was a little sad they had no ciders on tap but you can't win them all. This was the second time I have been here. First time I got the king crab legs & I wasn't impressed. Today I was craving scallops. I decided to try them Bc how hard can they be to cook, you would think. Well when they came I got THREE!!! Wrapped in bacon and then some corn concoction. The scallops were over cooked & the bacon wasn't even cooked enough!!! For the price I was underwhelmed & very dissatisfied. I know they aren't known for there seafood but I would think it would have been better. Won't be going there again for seafood. Very sad. Wish Lebanon had better seafood restaurants.
