The food here was ok. I ordered the pollo ala brasa along with the white rice and beans. I also ordered a cup of chicken soup. The chicken was cooked okay but I wish it had a little more flavor a little more seasoning to it the skin wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. The white rice was cooked properly the beans seem to lack some flavor. The chicken soup was absolutely amazing and I would definitely order that again I'm very hearty and light at the same time. The soup was perfectly balanced. Great spot with an "A" rating. On our way to upstate New York, all of us decided on different spots to get take out and a friend recommended this spot. I got roasted chicken which was super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. White rice with beans on the side mixed with onions and peppers and so many amazing flavors. It came with sweet plantains in a sauce that was just right and not too sweet. This place is nothing short of amazing. A hidden gem with flavors that are out of this world. Authentic food, great service, and one of the best takeouts ever. I like how they package the food and separate each item in nice size proportions. My first delivery experience in the Bronx has me sold, thanks to my trust in fellow Yelpers and this "Bronx gem's" $18 special of a whole chicken, rice, beans, platanos, salad & ginger ale. Upon placing my order, I wished I paid more attention in Spanish so I could place my order (& not cuss out the guy on the other end, like 4 years of high school Spanish taught me). But the nicer, English-speaking lady got me all squared away. 25 minutes later, the sweet aroma met me at my door. The chicken was juicy, but the glazed, grilled skin was the real treat. I still have to get use to New Yorker's beans because it's not quiet Mexican, Belizean or true DR beans to which I've become accustomed. It still hit the spot, however. I don't get tostones because I don't think I've had them at the right place, but their sweet plantains were decent. (I like them sliced thin & fried hard, rite before they get crunchy, so it's rare that I get them the way I think is perfect). I'll definitely order again and 5 stars is on the horizon if the other menu items are as good. read more

This little hole in the wall, because that what is it is, a little non descriptive hole in the wall. Let me tell you this little hole in the wall has the best rotisserie chicken in the Bronx!! Hands down!! You can get it plain off the spit just like that or with a little of their mojo, omg! thinking about it and just typing this is making my mouth water!! The chicken is moist delicious hot and falls off the damn bone!! Not only is there chicken, ALL their food is good tasty made to order fresh! You come at lunch and you may have to wait or chicken, they run out (that busy and CHICKEN THAT GOOD!!) Its not a fancy restaurant but the staff is humble and pleasant and always have a smile. Now back to the food, their food is good and inexpensive period. All they need is a fully stocked bar..they do have wines and beers. I highly recommend this spot. Lechonera & Pollo Sabroso has to be one of the more terrible Spanish restaurants in the area. I work in the area, and it's one of the few Spanish restaurants around, after trying and trying and trying for a little over five years you'd figure I'd have some good experiences with them. Not really, It seems like if you don't speak the language, it upsets them to switch to the fluent English all the servers can speak. It also effects their customer service and what foods you are likely to get (soup with little to no meat, mostly fat pieces of beef, more bones, missing sides that come with meals, etc.). The prices are also inconsistent for basics. A small white rice sometimes fluctuates between $3-$4. Pick a price and stick to it. Some of the servers are prejudice, and this also results in getting subpar food. To be sure of this a few co-workers and I had sent in Hispanic co-workers to get us food it and what they come back with is better soups, meatier specials with all the sides that go with it. It's sad, I want to give them my business instead of the fast food restaurants that litter the area, but with service like that, it keeps me away. Also, avoid their oatmeal. Unless you like it filled with more clove than sugar, cinnamon, and actual oatmeal. read more

This place is a rare gem in The Bronx. Consistently tasty and delicious food. I call this place at least 3 times a week when i don't feel like cooking and I'm immediately transported to my grandmothers kitchen. The Rotisserie Chicken is to die for and whichever beans they offer per day are finger licking good. I've had gatherings of people at home where i just call Lechonera & Pollo Sabroso to feed my guests and everybody agrees that this should be a pilgrimage destination for everyone, not necessarily for their restaurant but for their amazing food! keep up the good work Lechonera! read more

The wrost experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I walked in and none of the workers paid me anymind. I learned very quickly most workers didn't speak English and that's okay but I was straight up ignored. I was talking to one waitress to get an order and she brushed me off like I wasn't saying crap.after being in the store for 10 looking for helping a man asks me for my order I told him the order and was waiting up to another 10 minutes or more. Between waiting ,other people were getting their meals like clock work. I felt as thought I looked like an idiot waiting for my food trying to ask where my food was at . I kept getting crappy run around service so I left the place without ever getting my food.
