Wow wow wow is all I have to say about Ledu Thai! I live in the area and cannot believe it took me this long to try it out! First of all, the food was outstanding especially compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, the service was impeccable - during the dinner rush my partner and I received our hot meals within minutes! Last but certainly not least, the staff was incredibly friendly/attentive. I mentioned to the restaurant manager and/or owner that I was traveling to Thailand next year and she gave me some awesome local tips and tricks. Prices are a little above average. Got takeout. The biggest disappointment was the small container of rice that came with the massaman curry (see photo). I didn't even know they made boxes that small. For about $15, you'd think they could be a little more generous with the rice. The massaman curry was nothing memorable. Beef was too chewy. On our quest to try every restaurant in the area, we stumbled on LeDu. Food was ready promptly and service was friendly (we got takeout). We ordered pad Thai with tofu (hit the spot on a cold night, but very standard fair, healthy size portion), crab rangoon (good, but very thin on the filling and actually didn't like that it was in phyllo dough - usually it's a different type of dough at other places), and the Pad kee mao- this is what bumped them down from 4 to 3. We love spicy food, but that's all this was: heat. There was no depth of flavor. Despite the colorfulness of the veggies, it tasted like noodles dumped with hot sauce. Not saying we'll never be back, but definitely not for this dish. read more

Ordered pad thai and satay thru Ubereats. Both definitely were not authentic Thai and quality was not up to par. First the $13 pad thai- the pad thai seasoning tastes like it came out of a packet. Portion was large for dinner size but it is literally just poorly cooked, poorly seasoned noodles with minimal meat. The only saving grace was that the satay meat was cooked well and tender but here's a shocker- the satay sauce isn't even satay sauce. To be honest I'm not even sure what type of sauce it is! I've eaten tons of satay over the years- Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand so I know what isn't satay sauce. If you eat here definitely stay away from the pad thai here. I've had mediocre pad thai many times stateside but all those restaurants far surpassed this one. read more

Excellence with some awful thrown in. We did a quick order three noodles: Pad see ew (delicious), Pad kee mao (excellent!) and Crispy chicken pad thai (meh). The pad thai was too sweet and the chicken was horrible as if they previous deep fried it and reheated it. Inside was discolored and detached from the batter. Premade isn't a good option including the Thai iced tea. Though I appreciated the watered down version, others missed the usual creamy. I stopped in at this spot and ordered spicy eggplant with tofu and vegetables, and lemon grass tofu with vegetables. I asked for less oil and brown rice. Then I sat down outside to wait for my order and read the reviews. I was prepared to be disappointed. But I'm not. Both dishes are quite good. The food is flavorful. Everything is crisp. They honored my request for less oil. Yes, the box of brown rice is small. Which I don't understand because rice so inexpensive and so many people have commented on that. It seems like it wouldn't take much to give more and make everybody happy. That being said I am quite satisfied with the amount. I am not thrilled that the tofu in both dishes is fried. But I didn't think to ask. In the future I will ask for tofu that is sautéed but not fried. I would not hesitate to come here again read more

I went when they opened a couple of years ago and it was ok, not bad, not good, not cheap, not too little not too much, pretty much the McDonald's experience: you don't pay much you don't expect much you don't get much so you're happy. Went back tonight thinking why not see if they had changed their formula, got about 5 entrees, and nope it's about the same. Thai by focus group. Which made it expensive actually. Can't complain too hard about anybody intrepid enough to open and operate a restaurant in newtonville, especially since china town is 15-20 minutes away. I've gotten takeout here for lunch a few times now. Their lunch deals are pretty good - entree and two pieces of two different appetizers for around $12 total. While a $12 lunch is on the pricier side, their portion sizes are very generous and it comes in nice lunch box that separates everything out. For entrees, I recommend the classics - Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. For appetizers, I liked the veggie spring rolls and dumplings. The crab rangoons weren't as crispy as the ones that I get from other asian places so I wouldn't get those. I always call ahead and it would be ready to pick up in 10 minutes - super fast!! The staff are friendly and there's a few tables and even one table outside for dining in. Plenty of meter parking in that area for those looking to grab a quick sit down meal. read more

Not sure how this even happens or if anyone else has had this experience, but I ordered the chicken pad Thai with a side of fish and the bag smelled like literal poop. The food it's self smelled and tasted fine, but the bag and everything else in it smelled like actual poop. Maybe it was the fish sauce or another ingredient in the bag, but I definitely will not be coming back because of this. I even had to wash my hands after throwing the bag out because the smell got on my fingers. read more

I agree that this is the best Thai in the Boston area (I've tried tons since moving to the state 16 years ago). Always flavorful and they always get the order right, including any special instructions. The staff is very nice. I love that they actually make it hot when you ask for extra spicy. Most restaurants disappoint me with the spice level. My favorite item is the Pad Kee Mao with crispy chicken, which is cooked to perfection. Don't let the small storefront fool you - the food here is absolutely delicious! And bonus: they serve beer! There's plenty of parking on the street and the staff are super friendly. So good I've started going every week for take-out. I fell in love with Kao Soi on a trip to northern Thailand several years ago but it's nearly impossible to find at most Thai restaurants. This place makes it as good as I had in Thailand. One tip - if you order it to go, make sure to ask for the crispy noodles on the side or else they'll lose the crispy by the time you get it home. Also tried their pad thai, larb chicken, and mango sticky rice. All were solidly good, but the sticky rice was AMAZING. Looking forward to sampling the rest of the menu (that is, if I ever get tired of Kao Soi). I'd suggest this place for take-out rather than dine-in. They're on the small side and seem geared toward the to-go crowd. Even still, the service was very friendly. For those reviews that comment on the price being high - you get what you pay for! So so so hot and delicious. I haven't had a bad meal here. The smell of LeDu Thai Eatery makes me happy and the food makes me even happier! This place is ultra clean and I enjoy being inside. The lighting is dim, the decor is cute and functional, the tunes are on point. The staff is also very personable. It's rare that even something like a fried rice dish is a standout on a menu, but I really enjoy the hot basil fried rice for lunch. The vegetables are always so fresh and the spiciness is always so right. They have bubble tea and Thai iced tea. They also have beer! Loved this neighborhood spot since the day it opened! While I haven't eaten in the space it's very modern and clean with an industrial feel. A nice change from the typical "Asian take out decor". Everything I have tried (almost the entire menu) has been fresh and tasty! A lot of Thai food makes the mistake of being too "fishy" or salty and the food at LeDu is always on point. I highly recommend the ginger dish with chicken and the chicken dumpling soup! The dumplings were perfectly chewy and soft and the broth complimented the flavors bringing it all together so each bite was better than the last. Okay, let's get down to business. After passing by this restaurant plenty of times going home, my dad and I decided it was time to try it out. First impression of this tiny restaurant was, contemporary and clean. Everything was out in the open, so you are able to see the chefs cook. Seeing a family dynamic (assuming it's a family owned place) gave me an extreme nostalgic feeling because I grew up with my family owning a restaurant. Hearing the Thai language and being familiar with the kitchen feel just made me happy already. I appreciate that this place closes later than most of the restaurants available in Newtonville, which allows for the late-night cravings. Walking in, the young woman at the counter was taking a phone order, but it took a few minutes longer than necessary. Another young woman who noticed, ended up getting my order and told me to tell the other woman at the counter my order. I greatly appreciated it, because I just wanted to go home. Just to try the place out, I had to get the basic chicken Pad Thai. The Pad Thai is very similar to the way my parents make it, though it was a little heavy on the sauce. Even so, it was still tasty in comparison to other Thai restaurants. I live in the neighborhood and I'm very happy to have a new restaurant in Newtonville (and not another bank!) LeDu is a welcome addition to the trend of new restaurants and bars in Newtonville that add to the vibrancy and enjoyment of the neighborhood. Most important, the food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The decor is modern and hip. The owner is working the register and you can tell she is very passionate about the food and her business. I like that the menu is focused (what some may call limited.) Everything feels like the owner chose it for a reason and cooks it well. I much prefer this approach over a menu that has every Thai dish known to man, but not executed well. The food is definitely elevated above standard counter service food, but understand that it is counter service - not a sit down restaurant. There are two tables and a "bar" along the window. This is the best take-out pad thai in the Boston area, hands down. I am picky about my pad thai. In my 12+ years here, I have hit most of the biggies for theirs... Brown Sugar, S&I, Cha Yen, Rod Dee, Dok Bua, etc. on my quest for a crave-able dish. This new little place finally hit that mark! Seriously. My wife & I just ordered 2 dishes from here with no egg & tofu added because we are vegan. When they came out, I noticed that both dishes had fish sauce on them despite ZERO labeling on their menu to say so. When I asked if we could get 2 new dishes, but to make sure they were vegan, we were told it was going to be another 50% on top of the $37 we just paid to have them remade. Unfortunately we walked out & will never return. Vegans beware it's not enough to mention no egg & add tofu for them to realize they might want to ask if fish sauce is ok. Very disappointing. We have been here many times, as we live around the corner. Very excited when they first opened up. But tonight was the end for us. We ordered the "crispy chicken pad Thai", which resembled its name not even a bit. It as goopy sweet, did have pieces of chicken (few and far between), and zero "crispy" anything. Not a vegetable or garnish in sight. It was terrible. It's been going downhill for a bit but tonight requires that I officially say that this is no longer tolerable. The chicken satay has been shrinking quickly too. It is now a postage stamp on a stick. I understand that inflation has hit but prices have also doubled and quality has tanked. Eventually your customers go elsewhere. The sweet beef and sticky rice are still pretty good but that's about it, sadly. read more

I love this place! I get the same thing every time (Tomyum noodle soup, extra spicy with chicken) and that's because it is delicious and entirely reliable! I don't get take out very often but when I do, this is my go to place. My boyfriend usually gets gaprow chicken which is so tasty and flavorful and I often wonder why I don't order that sometimes but my fidelity to the tomyum is real. LeDon't The soup, Kao soi, was not in the proper liquid container, emptied all over the the other containers and came with rice noodles instead of egg noodles as described. No crab in the Crab Rangoon just scallion and cream cheese. Flavorless Fried Chicken Bites. Chicken Satay was a mess as it had sweet satay sauce on it and on it and not in a separate container. Pad see ew and Pad Kee mao were greasy and lacked proper seasoning and flavor. The kicker? I received an email from Grubhub notifying me of an extra charge of $2.00 for a "change" I did not make! Still have not heard back from Grubhub. I'm always excited to check out new Thai restaurants and hope in vain they are any good but no joy with LeDu Thai Eatery. Most delicious Pad Thai in USA! As authentic and tasty as the food in Thailand. Small seating area for parties of 5 and under, but the bar stools and bistro style seating and outdoor seating are comfy and casual and they serve wine and beer - which is pretty excellent for a place designed to accommodate Take Away primarily. Disappointed. Called for order to go. Thai iced tea served to me with no ice, not full, straw inserted through cover, And already mixed. I had to ask if it was someone's drink or was it fresh. This place has good food. The last few times they have skimped on the chicken in my Noodles. The appetizers are also a bit pricey for the quantity you get.
