Recommended by a friend so I checked this place out. It's a small place with a dozen or so tables. Service efficient and friendly. We all enjoyed our entrees plus scallion pancakes and mango sticky rice. We all loved the noodles. Good value. Lots of city parking (2 lots) on the side street.

Life is short....F it up! Family, Flavor, Friends. Walking down Moody Street we were in the mood for some nice warm pho. We opted to go to this place as it was recommended from one of my friends. When we got there, we didn't realize that they were about to close. The owner was very hospitable and took us in. This is the first time that I've had for over here. As you know, awful places are different and their soup is what makes them different. The soup was very soothing and had a different twist as it had a thicker bone broth base very simple, very clean and good. We also picked up a few other appetizers, chicken wings, fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, and some chicken on a stick all were pretty good very simple again it's cooked like it was it would be at your house. Give us four stars there's always room for improvement but definitely worth checking out.

    Tai Pho with "extra" meat

Looking for some inedible pho? Need somewhere to waste $20 / $30? Try Pho and Spice. After a long day I was really looking forward to a bowl of hot pho. My usual Pho Pasteur was closed to I gave this spot a try. I ordered Pho Tai with extra Tai. The order arrived in a little container that had the broth at the bottom and the meat and noodles held above it. Would have been cool if the steam from the broth didn't overcooked the rare meat before I even opened the bag. I could have looked past that but the extra meat I payed for was nowhere to be found and the meat that was included was thinner than a sheet of loose leaf. Rare eye round is already a cheap cut, do you really have to be that stingy when you're charging over $20? No scallion or Thai basil was provided, which are pretty standard and also pictured on door dash. Worst case scenario, at least I get a pleasant bowl of broth right? Wrong. The broth was cloudy and like nothing I ever smelled before. So much star anise it smelled like potpourri and was genuinely sickening. Even the single condiment packet of Lee Kum Kee Hoisin couldn't save it. Straight to the trash. Hopefully the Thai food is better but I'll never know after this experience.

I stopped in for a bite with my granddaughter to expose her to some cultural diversity so she will learn to explore different options. We tried a variety of dishes and the staff was very kind to accommodate us in our adventure. The Crab Rangoon was warm and creamy! The lettuce spring roll was very good but the sauce was even better! The fruit flavored bubble tea was a hit! The decor is simple and the service is fast. Thanks for a nice meal!

Favorite pho in waltham. Seating area is kind of tiny, but takeout isn't as good as sitting in the place. Relatively affordable.

Service was good. Pho was good, we liked the options and everything came out quickly. Sit down ambience was a little lacking.

I've even paid for the extra meat despite feeling sort of ripped off. Tonight was honestly it for me. 2 appetizers- crispy chicken tenders and crispy rolls. I think the tenders are new? I don't recall seeing them on the menu before so I ordered them and what I got was a basic restaurant depot chicken tender with the tiniest container of "special maple ketchup". The crispy rolls were another mass produced item. I swear this used to be something different. It was either made in house or just a higher quality item they purchased. The bbq pork for the rice bowl was eerily similar to food court teriyaki chicken. I'm just SO SAD. This used to be so good. I know business is tough. Everything is expensive. I want them to succeed and at the same time when I spend my money on restaurant food I expect it to be reliable good.

The ones from Banh Mi Cafe are enormous, sooo fresh, and exactly what I wish mine tasted like. Both the fish sauce and the peanut sauce are excellent, and when I need to bring something to a summer potluck but don't have time to cook, I just order six orders of spring rolls and suddenly everyone at the potluck is happy. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is also absolute jet fuel. It's my go-to whenever I need to work a late night. But the reason I'll always be loyal to Banh Mi Café has nothing to do with the food. ::IT'S STORYTIME:: One evening I developed an absolutely irrational craving for their avocado smoothie with boba. I spent the whole day thinking about it, finally placed an online order, and then got a phone call saying they had just run out. They apologized and offered a replacement or a refund. Instead, I asked them a weird question: "I know this is kind of crazy...but if you'll have avocado again on Saturday, could you just make this exact order then instead, and I'll come pick it up?" To my surprise, they said yes. A couple of days later, I picked up my avocado smoothie, my fresh spring rolls, and went home happy. Maybe it was more work than it was worth for the employee, maybe it wasn't; either way, they took an odd request seriously, and that's the kind of customer service that sticks with you. Beyond the spring rolls, I've also really enjoyed the nem chua, the cold cut banh mi (I wish the bread were a little softer, but the condiments and veggies are excellent), and the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves, which I hadn't tried before and now LOVE. I still have a growing list of desserts to work through, including the flan. One thing to know before you go, regarding ambiance: this is more of a grab-and-go spot, not somewhere to settle in for lunch. There are only a few bar seats, so I almost always take my food with me, sometimes to the nearby park. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants around Boston, and while I'll always happily try new ones, Banh Mi Cafe has earned my loyalty, one avocado smoothie at a time.

I don't think the prices on their menu are justified for the big portions they serve! Yes, they give plentiful ingredients for lower than standard menu price compared to my local area. I don't go to Dorchester often, so I am not sure if the other Vietnamese restaurants within its vicinity have similar price range. But this restaurant is definitely worth checking it out as it has a decent selection to order. I had Bun Bo Hue and my friend had #75 Crab Noodle Soup with Water Spinach. Bun Bo Hue was not spicy, was on the sweeter side, but it was flavorful! They provided me a saucer of chilly oil to adjust spicy level to my liking. #75 was good as well and like I stated it had plenty ingredients (at an affordable price)!
