An honest mechanic in Plano. Highly recommend. Work is fast and prices are great. Super friendly and free candy in the waiting room!! EDIT 3/23/13 Went back for my regular oil change. Noticed the friendly Asian guy who normally greets me isn't there. Ask for my normal 7500 Mile Valvoline synthetic oil change. they say OK. I go to McDonald's, as usual. At check out the guy gets an attitude with me when I ask why they are asking for my info again since I've been a regular here for 2 years then tell me they are no longer doing the Valvoline $15 Rebate any longer despite the fact that they are displaying a sign advertising it right there at the register. I tell him if the offer has expired they should remove the sign. He tells me he leaves it there because "it looks cool" . Stupid answer. As I leave I check my reminder sticker as i always do and see that they set my oil change interval to 5000 miles even though I specifically asked for a 7500 mile interval as required by my car maker. I return to the business to ask for another sticker reflecting the correct mileage. The guy starts to tell me he "can't do that". Sorry dude I'm not an idiot, Yes you can do it. He prints me another sticker and puts it on the windshield. As I'm getting in the car I ask if they are under new ownership or something and he says yes, they changed owners in October. That explains the mediocre service and attitude. Also tried to sell me a cabin air filter for $50. They are $16.99 on Amazon.com. That's a pretty good mark up I'd say. Nice try, buddy. What you don't know is that I've been a mechanic for 30 years and the only reason you are doing my oil change is that I have better things to do with my time. I will not be back. Owner, If you are reading this you might want to talk to little big man running your store and let him know that you don't keep customers by being argumentative and telling customers you "can't" do something. They might just go home and give you a bad review. Don't assume everyone who comes in is a soccer mom type who only knows how to put gas in the car and drive it. read more

I came into the Samstone on Coit and Parker for a dying battery and state inspection at 5:45. The manager came out to greet me after the initial tech came out, and invited me and my son to wait on the lobby. I said we'd run to the McDonalds next door for quick dinner, and he said no problem I'll come over to update you. I didn't think anything of it, but 5 or 10 minutes later the manager walked next door to McDonald's to let me know my battery needed to be replaced. He offered me a few reasonable options and didn't try to upsell. Said it'd be 30-40 mins. Only 30 mins later the tech came back over to say my car was ready-- all the while my son got to play and eat some dinner. Great experience and I'd recommend. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!If I can give 0 star, I would. THEY ARE DISHONEST!!!! I took my car there for state inspection. When my husband and I were waiting in the room and thinking they took longer time that they need, they came to the room and asked us to go see my car. We went there and they told me that my engine has carbon built up. They will clean it for us for 69.99. My husband told him that we will take care later and asked the guy if my car passed the state inspection. He said yes. We went back to the room. 5 minutes later, they told us that my car didn't pass the inspection. the OBD is not ready. He said the battery may be dead and jumped back up. We told him that it never happen. IT WAS BULLSHIT!!!!! My car is only 3 years old and has no problem at all. We get it passed inspection in other place. In other place, the guy said Plano Car Care shouldn't open your hood and stated messing around the engine without customer permission. Also when they messed around the engine, it can make the OBD not ready. Whatever they did to my car, they intended to fail state inspection because I didn't want to purchase their extra service for extra cost. I passed by here for a much needed oil change for my husband's car. Mike, the manager, was very helpful and greeted me with a smile. He pulled up my car to the garage and worked on the car immediately. Most of the time, whenever you go to these oil change places, they upsell you with other stuff and they seem insincere and pushy. Mike came by to tell me three things that may need to be changed eventually. He wasn't pushy and he wasn't rude. I've been to a lot of garages that have spoken to me rudely because I am a woman or thinking I would fall for their overpriced upsell. Mike thereafter just typed in what oncoming maintenance needed to be done. I am going to give this a five star because of the service and for doing a great job. read more

Worst customer service ever! I took my truck here wanting to support my local business. It was a simple repair, that with the correct parts should've only taken a few hours. They finished the repair 11 days later and lost my wheel-lock key in the meantime. Not once during the 11 days did I receive a phone call updating me on the status of my truck. And when I contacted them about the status, I got the run around about waiting on parts. I have no complaints so far about the quality of work done on my vehicle. Very disappointed with the service I received here. I went here because of the good reviews shown here and on goggle. Admittedly I have an older car but I still like observing work being done to it. So I turned my vehicle over to them for a synthetic oil change and walked around to the back to watch them execute the oil change. I was standing in the grass away from the part of the garage where vehicles exited so I was in no clear danger. A person working on my car came out of the pit from underneath my car and asked me to go walk around to the front. Didn't provide me an explanation other than to say I couldn't be standing where I was at even though I wasn't on their property. Eager to avoid a conflict, I complied and walked around the front. They finished the change a few minutes later, I paid, and left the shop. They never provided an explanation of why I couldn't stand behind the shop, watching them do the oil change. They just told me I couldn't. This is the reason for the 1 star rating. I would be wary of doing business here given their inability to articulate the reason why a customer can't stand on another business's property and watch them do their work. I have my car inspected here for State inspection. The mechanic said that my car needs a power steering system flush at 30,000 miles because the oil is a bit dirty. They charged me $79.99 for the flush. Later, I found that my manufacturer recommends at 50,000 miles. Pepboys only charges $45 for the same service. I will not come back to this auto shop. They are trying to fool you and make money on non-recommended services. read more

These people do NOT care about their customers and don't want anyone to ever come back, apparently. I drove past their corner where they had posted 20-30 "Free Oil Change" bandit signs. I pulled in there and said, "free oil change?" The guy who was taking my car shook his head and shrugged his shoulders as if to say, "I don't speak English." They were also giving away free hot dogs so I went over there and got one. That's when I noticed that they were really pushing an $80 coupon book that included five free oil changes. That got my attention, so I walked back out to the street, and sure enough, on the "free oil change" signs, there was a tiny little disclaimer, "with Super Saver coupon" up in the corner. That little logo was about 6 inches long and three inches high. Impossible to read it from the road. I had to get within 8 feet of it to read it. I got ripped off. My free oil change cost $39. Plus, there was only one other car, but it took 25 minutes to get the oil changed, and when I asked why it was taking so long, they acted like they were shocked. "It's an oil change, man. Takes a while. This isn't McDonald's." Hell, I could've changed it myself in 10 minutes. Finally, the guy who checked me out asked me how my day was going. I said, "fine, until I got here. You ripped me off on this oil change." He could not have cared any less. He just said, "sorry." Handed me my receipt and turned his back. read more

I pull up on Sunday afternoon , to get my battery replaced, and I'm approached my one of the guys smoking a cigarette! That's just poor customer service. I then get my battery changed by another guy and he tells me my alternator is bad and needs to be replaced, but they're closing and to call him tomorrow. I had two separate alternator tests and both showed my alternator is fine. I then go back today because they left a corrosive film around my new battery and the same two guys are laying on a bench, smoking again. I will NEVER set foot in there again. I took my wife's Lexus 470 in for an oil change on a Sunday morning, the techs were friendly and helpful. I'm very busy and have been neglecting the maintenance, they took the time show me the cabin filters and air filters both were way overdue to be replaced. I had him replace the wiper blades and flush out the power steering fluid because It had been making a slight noise. The SUV ran much better after the maintenance. He told me exactly what needed to be fixed now and what needed to be fixed soon. I have priced out other tire shops and I hands down saved big by getting my tires here at Samstone.
