I have been coming to this shop ever since I bought my car, the mechanics are usually helpful and good with repairs other then the occasional incident. I have had at least 5 inspections done here and they always work with me very well. After working with John for the first time I will never be going back, he was in my face and aggressive all because I asked for a little help with something. The owner/inspector was so rude that he grabbed my personal military documents, in a file on the passenger side, and threw them while he was having a hissy fit saying "you are not listening." I took my Honda Odyssey Van to Lee Auto Center Inc, 13616 Lee Hwy, Centreville, VA for getting the state inspection performed on the vehicle. The guy asked me to wait outside and took the car into the bay and came out and said two things 1. Your 3 engine mounts are broken and to fix the mounts, it will be around 800$ 2. Your headlight needs to be adjusted and it is 15$ We can do both for you. I asked him if he is failing the inspection and he replied of course. I asked him if I get it fixed outside and if I bring back will he reinspect without fee? He said yes but again insisted strongly that he can fix it and replace it with new engine mounts. He put the rejected sticker. I took my van to two other places a) Repair center without inspection facility b) Repair center with inspection facility Both inspected the van by lifting it up on the bay; inspecting underneath and also they did test drives and they both said nothing wrong with the mount. Checking with friends and many people have faced the same situations with the Lee Auto center and most of the time he has told reasons like replace brake light, replace brake pads, replace front light, and all sorts of reasons and has done this to many people and all of them stopped going to Lee Auto Center for inspections/repair. I made a formal complaint with the Virginia State agency with what happened and provided them with all records. Went to Valvoline next to Lee's Auto Repair for an oil change , went out Valvoline with a dead stater, Lee's replaced the starter on my 2016 Toyota Camry with 66575 miles, I only got a Charge Receipt and not a Work Order Receipt from Lee's , so I have no prove of cost of parts and labor, not normal, right, but I know what type of business THEY run, I could of made it an issue but I believe in honesty in business , I will not return to both businesses. read more

Brought our 2006 car with 121,000 miles on it in for an estimate for repairs. Had brought it to the Acura dealership a few nights before so knew what kind of repairs were needed but we're too expensive (5400). So we thought why not get a second estimate and since we have had all of our vehicles inspected by Lee Auto Center Repair gave them a try. Got a call around mid-morning that the repairs would be low 3,000.00 to fix all the issues including a few more he had found. Told him I would talk with the wife but probably not since the vehicle was 16 years old we would probably move forward with buying a new vehicle. arrived in the afternoon to get the vehicle. The inspection guy offered to buy the vehicle? I inquired how much I owed them since they put some effort into their inspection and estimate for repairs. The mechanic said 60 bucks (half their hourly rate) that's when I noticed that the inspection sticker which they had put on last February had been scrapped off. When I inquired what happen both the mechanic and inspection guy denied knowing anything. Half the inspection sticker was on the drivers side floor. Sad to say but they were pissed we didn't want to follow through with the repairs and scraped our inspection sticker off to spite us. Now we have to find a new inspection station for future inspections. Honesty and integrity matter! read more

Came here to get my inspection done. That was a mistake. I was told that I had a broken windshield wiper, but fortunately for me, the owner could replace it for $10. Somewhat skeptical, I told him, 'no thanks,' and he put a rejection sticker on the vehicle. This place has the worst customer service. I needed a vehicle inspection so I called beforehand and the guy I talked to told me to bring my car over. Once I got there, I went into the office and there were two customers sitting there. I stood there waiting at the reception desk for 15 minutes and nobody came out to help. I looked through the door that leads to the repair area and some employees were working on cars and others were just standing around. I went back out to my car and called the place again. There apparently is a phone in the repair area so I saw one of the guys pick up the phone. I told him that I needed a vehicle inspection and told him how I was waiting in the front office for over 10 minutes and nobody came out to help me. To my surprise, he raised his voice and said in a very rude tone, "I said we're open so bring your car over!" and before I could even say anything else he just hung up the phone on me. I have been taking my cars to Lee Auto Center for over 7 years now, both for Emissions and Safety inspections, and for maintenance/issues. I have seen management change but I still take my cars there because the mechanics are honest, and the service is fast. Sure the location and facilities are A+, but I'm not going to a mechanic for a plush lobby, I'm going there to get my car fixed for the best price available. I've found that Lee Auto has an extremely fair price for their services, and they have been open and honest with their recommendations. Sometimes, that even means not doing services that other garages might push on you. For the inspections, you have to wait in line in the car, but that is because their parking lot is small with a limited number of spaces available. I've never had a problem with any of their inspection personnel. In the end, it is the garage I trust the most. read more

They have 2 inspectors at their inspection station. they are VERY thorough when doing an inspection though. They don't rip you off, but they check everything. They said my wife's car's headlights were not aligned properly and they were not producing enough light (lots of grime/paint on the headlights). they aligned them and buffed/polished the headlights for about $40 total and then passed us. read more

I've gone here a couple of times for inspection, and that was ok. However, there's no such thing as customer service here. For an auto shop that's tucked away in a corner and right next to another shop that's competing, I say they need better customer service. I complained about a cost for "shop supplies" while trying to get an outer tie rod changed, because I was paying for the part and the labor, only tools needed for changing a tie rod are reusable tools, so I don't know where they get the nerve to upcharge. It wasn't about the money, but rather the way they let me know about it only after I asked about the total. Then when I slightly complained, as I was signing the paper anyway, the attendant snatched the form from under my hand, pointed towards the door and said "go somewhere else", and happily I did. read more

As all of the other reviewers on here and google have mentioned this place is a scam. Let me start off with the first time I came here which was when I brought my own car for an inspection. They informed me that my windshield wipers needed to be replaced and I believe also that one of my bulbs was out. Nothing out of the ordinary and since my wipers were a little old I didn't read much into it. Fast forward a bit to when I then brought my wife's car in for an inspection as well. They failed that inspection as well for the following reasons: 1. Wipers needed to be replaced 2. Fog lights weren't working 3. Stated that 3 of her bulbs were burnt out 4. Headlights were too fogy 5. Headlights were not properly aligned 1. I thought it was a little odd that her wipers needed to be replaced as well since this is the ONLY place ever that has told me my wipers need to be replaced even when they seem to be working fine and I don't see any major deterioration. However, I probably would have let this slide and just replaced them on my own and have a re-inspection done for $1. 2. As far as the fog lights go, we had purposely taken the fog lights out because her car has a known issue where when you turn the car off the fog lights will sometimes stay on until the battery dies. This is a known issue due to some poor wiring. (Her car had this issue) I informed the inspector of that reason and stated that we had the bulbs in the glove box and I could screw them in to show him that the lights do in fact work fine. However, he refused stating that since I had touched the bulbs they could explode if we tried to put them back in. Yes that is what he actually said. While it is true that the oils on our skin can reduce the longevity of the bulbs it will not cause them to explode. 3. I find it a little odd that 3 bulbs were burnt out but since they were all in the back (break lights) it could have been possible. Unlike some of the other reviewers stated I did not try plugging them back in to see if they were simply loose, but apparently I should have. Once again, another issue that I would fix myself and get the re-inspection done at a later. 4. I've also never had any car fail an inspection for the headlights being too foggy but once again I could resolve this on my own. 5. This is the one that really gets me. While in the waiting room we were talking with another lady who was having her inspection done as well. She informed me that they stated her car's headlights needed to be realigned as well. This was pretty odd but even weirder was that last time she had taken her car here for her last inspection they had stated this same problem then as well. Also I believe they stated she needed new wipers as well. I talked with a coworker of mine that had been a mechanic for years before getting into IT and he stated that the only reason a car should ever need their headlights realigned is if it's been in an accident. Other than that this would be highly unusual and unlikely. All said and done they then gave us the total cost for all of the fixes (which was ridiculous) and asked if we wanted to have them take care of it. While talking with my wife about what I could fix on my own (the wipers, foggy lights, burnt out bulbs) to avoid some of the additional cost the inspector proceeded to get angry with me stating that he had things to do and we needed to make a decision now. At that point I told him we were done here and I would take the car somewhere else and pay the full price. I fixed the foggy lights, replaced the bulbs and that was it. We then took it to another place where they proceeded to tell us nothing was wrong with the headlight alignment and the wipers were fine. We also mentioned to them the issue about the fog lights and all they said was that they recommended having them removed but since they do work it wasn't an issue. The workers (including the owner) at this place are rude and I mean beyond simply not having good customer support. Yelling at a customer for discussing with your wife about what you want to do is uncalled for. I urge anybody else that has experienced these issues to report them to the police so they can be investigated. And please do yourself a favor and go anywhere else no matter if for repairs or even just an inspection. read more

The only reason why it wasn't a 5-star is because the guy who did my emissions test was clearly a smoker and he smelled like it. Why did I come here again? Only pave that isn't busy for inspections. ...oh for good reasons, they'll nickel and dime you on everything. First inspection didn't pass because I shouldn't have white bulbs on my headlights...which were store replacements which passed at this same place last year. Replaced them with yellows and what do you know? Now they're of by 5 inches and need to get readjusted. I can't do this since I don't have a calibration device for light and measurement. 15 more dollars. It's the last they'll get from me. Save your time and money and go to the Korean place right next door. Also both inspectors talk to you like you're a child or know nothing about anything. I trust these guys with all of my cars. Including a supercharged range rover and a highly modified c6 corvette. They have always been very honest, and provide extremely fast service. I take my vehicles here for all service, even those that are recommended by the dealership to maintain warranty. A great example is rear brakes for my Range Rover. The dealership wanted 880 dollars, Lee auto took care of it for 189 dollars including parts and labor! A+++ read more
