I returned my car to them and they recharged my battery, but did not check their installation of the door switch or advise me to bring the car back in to check the fuse box. subsequently, I took my vehicle to the dealer and they were able to perform the drain test and install a new door window switch. The window switch purchased at Driven Autorepair was under warranty and the manager wouldn't give me a refund on the defective part. I was the part could only replaced. Advising potential customers of their policy and you have no choice other than to use their services when a part is under warranty. The manager would not take fiscal responsibility for the potential faulty part they purchased and/or the potential faulty installation they provided on my car. I lost over $800 dollars trusting the integrity of the services provided by this company. Buyer Beware!

I called on my way over to make sure they were open, and the tech who answered the phone assured me I could come right in and got me registered as I headed their way. It took just under an hour for the team to evaluate my tire, spot the screw that was causing the leak, patch it, and fill it back up. I was able to work from a well-appointed waiting area with plenty of seating, Wi-Fi, outlets, snacks and coffee. I would definitely recommend this shop for their efficient operations, welcoming team, friendly atmosphere, and a job well done.

This other company also told me that I needed nearly $600 in work done on my car. I thanked them for the feedback and immediately called DSCA to make an appointment (especially since my check engine light went on immediately after my appointment with the chain company). DSCA inspected my car, discovered that the oil cap and other caps were not on correctly secured which is why my check engine light went on. They also let me know that I did not need all of the work the other company said I did. I apologized to DSCA for getting in for a quick appointment at the other place since I know my car is in better hands with our trusted family mechanic. DSCA refused to accept payment for this check up which is why I am writing a review . . . they do a great job and are fair to their customers and deserve payment for their good work! He then directed me to the shop next door! I guess even though AAMCO is open they don't want or need customers. The AAMCO employee actually did me a favor. Driven Auto Repair not only looked at my vehicle but fixed the problem quickly and inexpensively.

I sourced the transmission myself and had it shipped from California to AAMCO Chantilly. It was a $5000 custom transmission fit into a standard VW casing, and was shipped dry. Since then I've put about 6000 miles on the van (not my daily-driver). I had several back-and-forth's with the manager, Terry Bradley. In addition to the transmission, I needed a $450 custom transmission oil cooler installed. The cooler came with custom hoses and fittings, of which neither were used. I implored Terry to communicate with the transmission builder in Ca. about how to install this custom job. I had given Terry a copy of all contact information (the builder specifically asked for the installer to contact him, and I'd let Terry know this). I had also left several copies of the contact info and instructions inside the vehicle. Terry never bothered to reach out; he 'knew' how to do it, he couldn't be bothered. No, he didn't 'know' how to do it. I should have pulled my van away when my spidey-sense told me not to trust this guy. I let my desperation for a running van win. First of all, the oil cooler was installed upside down; it has a thermostatically controlled fan that needs to blow the heat away from the van, not up into it (seems obvious, right?). The bigger problem, however, is that there are two parts to this VW Transmission, the gears and the transaxle/differential, each requiring their own type of fluid. Well, the other day, I was driving the van home from a camping trip in WV and the transmission started making some horrible noises. Since my disappointing trip to AAMCO, I've found a local guy who really knows about these Vanagons. I took the van to him, and he discovered my transmission was not happy because the differential had been filled with transmission fluid instead of differential oil. Fortunately, it seems there's not too much damage to the ring and pinion, (the truly expensive, custom parts with a limited number in existence on earth). Replacing with the proper oil has helped some of the problem, but there's still something wrong in the gearbox, possibly with shot bearings and further work is needed. Long story short, I do believe this problem was primarily caused by Terry's arrogance in not contacting the builder about the specifics of this transmission. I am not taking my van back to this AAMCO because I have zero faith in Terry/AAMCO's ability to manage this problem and I have even less faith in his willingness to accept responsibility for this mistake. Judging by the number of recent lawsuits in Fairfax County (https://eapps.courts.state.va.us/gdcourts/captchaVerification.do?landing=landing) against this AAMCO, as well as against the manager Terry Bradley personally (he doesn't seem to want to pay his rent), I don't trust this AAMCO to take responsibility for their faults, nor to correct the error with integrity, I highly recommend you stay away. Depending on the final cost to me to repair this problem, I am considering my own lawsuit naming both the manager as well as AAMCO itself.

He saved me from buying a poorly-maintained vehicle that looked clean to a non-expert. He took the time to explain everything and teach me how to notice subtle differences in vehicle paint and surfaces that suggest prior body work, notwithstanding a clean Carfax. Later, I applied the lessons he taught me, identified a better vehicle out in Maryland, and demanded an extended test drive so Hamed could inspect this one too. Once again, he fit me in and gave the vehicle a careful inspection. I wish I lived out in Chantilly but I will try to find ways to get my vehicles out to him whenever I need major maintenance. Title: Lost a 7-year customer over dishonest inspection tactics…read more I have brought both of my vehicles to this location over the last seven years, spending over $5,000 in loyal business. Never again. During my recent visit for a new battery the service advisor told me I need a Virginia State Inspection for my pristine 2021 Mercedes GLE 350. Then after doing it the service advisor attempted to fail my vehicle. He claimed the front left rotor had "gravel grooves" that required a complete replacement of both front brake pads and rotors. Curiously, he claimed this damage was strictly on the "inside portion" of the rotor where I couldn't visually verify it without crawling under the vehicle. Knowing my vehicle's meticulous service history (the current pads only have 18,000 miles on them), I declined the massive upsell and researched Virginia State Police inspection rules (19VAC30-70-80). Minor cosmetic scoring or pebble grooves are NOT legal failure points unless the rotor is cracked or worn below the manufacturer's strict minimum thickness--measurements the advisor failed to provide. I took my vehicle down to the Mercedes dealer in Chantilly this morning for the inspection. It passed with absolutely zero issues or safety concerns. To make matters worse, I reviewed my recent tire purchase receipt with this same advisor. He promised to price match Tire Rack, but I discovered he secretly billed me $179 for road hazard protection--a service Tire Rack includes completely free. This shop broke my trust by padding invoices and using false inspection failures to push unnecessary repairs. Check your bills, know your state laws, and take your business elsewhere.

Expect lines on the weekend. Overall customer service is hit or miss- sometimes I'm met with the friendliest sample distributor/ welcomer/ or cashier, other times they just can't be bothered. Meh, no skin off my back. I'll just get my $5 chicken and be on my way. I love any Costco food court. Staff here is also hit or miss- lately there's a moody teenager that just wants to leave. Food is always what I expect. Grab you a glizzy as a post shopping reward.

After researched local car repair shops and explain my issues the shops I called, I decided to I take my 95 Camry to CARS for issues with EGR flow check engine code and brake not working - move forward when brake pedal is down, which I thought maybe just air in the brake line. They are courteous on the phone and able to tell me what possible issues and causes might be and very rough estimate. Also the reviews are very good. The EGR issue was fixed on the first try - vacuum switchover valve. The brake they said was there is no fluid coming out the left side and suggested I replace the left (front/rear) calipers and hoses. After few days I called to ask the status of the repair and they said the break is still soft, so I figure at least it back to where it was before I noticed stopping issue. But after I took the car back I noticed the break is even worse than before, now it will random stop working - pedal all the way down. You have to press it again to get it start stopping. Need less to said I was a bit terrified driving it, So I talked to my retire car mechanic friend and ask him what should I do. He said maybe bring it back for more break bleed as it is hard to bleed properly with old abs break system. CARS happily to give that try without charge as I explain the worsen break issue. Few more days later, I gave them call to see what the status is, and they said it is likely the abs pump internal leak and need a new abs system and not master cylinder failure - another $700 plus on top what I already paid for first break "fix" which also $700 plus. Not convinced this time, I called my friend again and described the breaking issue in more detail this time and he convinced that the issue the whole time is master cylinder and besides it is much cheaper to replace it than abs. So he had me order a new master cylinder from RockAuto and I brought it over to his house and he performed the replacement. And he was right, my break worked perfectly with the new master cylinder! He also adjusted break pedal so there is less distance to engage the break (old car). My friend told me, as mechanic he always go with cheaper option first if there are multiple possibilities to an issue. And also he said the symptoms (include the first diagnosis by CARS, fluid not flow in one side - piston failure) of my car almost always master cylinder issue. I wasted $700 and almost another $700 if I were to trust their 2nd recommendation. Needless to said I am very disappointed with CARS on their diagnostic ability, and the fact they ruled out the master cylinder on a 2nd look! So beware if you have a very old car, they might not be able to find the right cause and picking the more expensive options to try first. Finally I would say their price is fair, so I am not complaining about the price. And I don't think they intentional to misdiagnose, maybe just lack of experience. But that still leave me out of $700 and not very happy with this experience. read more

HAN is the best and honest guy I have ever met. He noticed 17 parts that were replaced on my Benz that was Leased. The mechanic AND owner of CHANTILLY MOTORS on Willard road in Chantilly, Richard Hemlee I've known for 7 years did all my oil changes. Richard Hemlee was caught replacing my brand new CLS 550 17 Original parts with used defective aftermarket parts when all I asked for was an oil change. (This was the course of 6 years of oil changes) Richard did not know my car was on lease. Everything made sense when he would ask for me to leave it in the morning and pick it up at night.... If it wasn't for HAN and second opinions, I would've continued being cheated by CHANTILLY MOTORS. HAN you deserve A+ for your honesty. read more

What a relief! I have been searching for so long for an honest, dependable mechanic. I have finally found one! Sean and Cameron are great! I work in Dulles and pass this shop on my way up 28. Dropped my 2001 VW Passat off to fix an oil leak. The service was good and the shop employees know their stuff. That's exactly what you'll find in Omar and his Team at Chantilly Repair Center Express. My 2009 Lexus IS250 hit 201,346 miles recently. Pohanka Lexus tried to swindle me out of my car and into a new one by NOT telling me the car needed additional maintenance after having them service it twice. Infact, they encouraged me to drive it in its unsafe condition and "....if anything happens we'll be here to sell you a new one". I came to Hillyard Automotive twice for work on my Mazda Miata, the first time after completing…read moresignificant suspension work on my to get an alignment and the second to recharge my AC which was blowing warm. My initial experience was great, when I took it in for the alignment they noticed that a several nuts/bolts were not torques down sufficiently and recommended what they called a "nut and bolt" where they would go through and take a wrench to everything in the suspension to make sure it was all up to spec. I was happy to go through with this as having a professional double check my work would certainly help me sleep a little sounder at night. The wording of this service made it clear that they would "Nut and bolt all suspension/steering hardware on a Modified/lowered/lifted vehicle." I took this to mean that, as the invoice said, they would make sure that everything in the suspension, especially anything obviously modified, was torqued down. A bit later, after not driving the car for about a month due to being out of town I schedule an AC recharge with them, on my way to the shop a clunk developed from the front suspension, I bring this up to the guys and they tell me they will take a look at it. It turned out that the top shock mount nuts, the ones keeping the entire assembly from falling a part were missing, presumably somewhere between my house and the shop. Being a key component of the suspension I had assumed this would have been covered in the nut and bolt I paid them 264 dollars for previously, but when I brought this up they were insistent that they had made it clear they only did work under the car, and the shock mount being inside the engine bay was not included in that. I was unsatisfied by this answer, and annoyed that I was being charged 174 dollars for something I was pretty confident I had paid for them to do already, but accepted it as my experience with them up until that point had been very good. It wasn't until I got home from the shop and checked the rear shocks to make sure those weren't backing off too that I realized that they had in fact tightened things that weren't under the car, including the same top mounts of the shocks in the rear. In addition to this I also found that they had snapped multiple studs in a brace that covered the top of the front shocks, which they had not told me about. I then called the shop and relayed this information, to which they insisted that their work on the rear shocks was them going "above and beyond" what was expected of them. It wasn't until I read them the wording of the invoice which was explicit in applying to ALL suspension hardware that they dropped this and were willing to provide me a refund for the 174 dollars they charged me to complete a job I had already paid for and replace the hardware that had fallen off as a result. I was very disappointed with how the situation was handled and their refusal to make their mistake right and admit wrongdoing tarnished what could have been a great experience. Had they just apologized for missing that when I was in the first time and fixed it I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Instead they insisted that their partially completed job was an example of them going above and beyond, and told me that "most shops wouldn't welcome me back after this." Which is an absolutely absurd stance to take after THEY are the ones who forgot to complete something. Their prices are decent, and when they do a job correctly it's done very well, but if something goes wrong they are extremely unwilling to apologize or take even the smallest amount of responsibility. Had they just apologized and fixed it I wouldn't have any reservations about returning or recommending the shop to others but the way they handled this situation was so poor that I will no longer do either of these things.

I dropped my car off last Thursday, parts had to be ordered, and they still completed the repair right on the timeline they promised. Picked up my car yesterday (4/1/26) My car is now running like new! I was referred by a mechanic friend who said they're the best in the area--and he was absolutely right. Never again. During my recent visit for a new battery the service advisor told me I need a Virginia State Inspection for my pristine 2021 Mercedes GLE 350. Then after doing it the service advisor attempted to fail my vehicle. He claimed the front left rotor had "gravel grooves" that required a complete replacement of both front brake pads and rotors. Curiously, he claimed this damage was strictly on the "inside portion" of the rotor where I couldn't visually verify it without crawling under the vehicle. Knowing my vehicle's meticulous service history (the current pads only have 18,000 miles on them), I declined the massive upsell and researched Virginia State Police inspection rules (19VAC30-70-80). Minor cosmetic scoring or pebble grooves are NOT legal failure points unless the rotor is cracked or worn below the manufacturer's strict minimum thickness--measurements the advisor failed to provide. I took my vehicle down to the Mercedes dealer in Chantilly this morning for the inspection. It passed with absolutely zero issues or safety concerns. To make matters worse, I reviewed my recent tire purchase receipt with this same advisor. He promised to price match Tire Rack, but I discovered he secretly billed me $179 for road hazard protection--a service Tire Rack includes completely free. This shop broke my trust by padding invoices and using false inspection failures to push unnecessary repairs. Check your bills, know your state laws, and take your business elsewhere.
