New tires and alignment were on my to-do list recently, but it was always difficult to fit things in during the weekends. Called G&C on a random Tuesday morning, and they were able to order new tires, and perform an alignment in the same day. Prices are fair/competitive, and customer service is top notch. When I first drove in, one of the folks mentioned to me that I had some tread left and didn't need to replace my tires just yet, which speaks to their honesty. I let him know that I had spoken to Dan on the phone, who had just ordered the tires, and I was just dropping my car off. It's great that they have loaners for a small shop, but they were out. However, Dan drove me home (2 miles away), and scheduled and uber pickup when the work was done. Very convenient and appreciated. Additionally, they provide photos/status of what was done, and what I may need to plan for in the future. No upselling sales bs here. Hopefully I won't need to return anytime soon, but it's good to know there is an honest shop nearby when the time comes. read more

I had occasion to drop by with a classic Audi to get an inspection done. First time I'd set foot into this auto shop and did so because my usual guy was jammed. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail they take, plus the multiple waiting areas are very cool. Staff were all courteous and the inspector (Frederick) was fabulous. He told ample shots of things that were worth keeping an eye on. I'm not accustomed to that level of detail being done. Changed my spark plug wires and plugs on Saturday May 3rd. Went in for an Emissions test May 5th. My Van was running great . The engine light was not on. When I got my Van back, 3 spark plug wires on the passenger side were completely unplugged and 3 spark plug wires on the drivers side were barely plugged in. In my humble opinion someone at the shop disconnected them. Greg refused to let me see all the camera footage from when my Van arrived to when it went into the inspection bay. He did show what he had selected and narrated it. The person at the desk said my Van was ok to drive home. By doing so it has caused major damage. 2 things they did not figure on in their scam in my humble opinion; 1 That I had just changed my plugs and wires. 2 That I would drive my Van home and repair/ plug the wires back in myself. We probably will be going to court. Stay Away From This Place !!! Very noble response Greg . Answer why you will not provide all the camera footage from when my Van came in until it was pulled into the inspectors bay. You will not because it will clearly show, in my humble opinion ,one of your employees disconnecting my spark plug wires. Shame on you and your wife for allowing your employees to commit such crimes, in my opinion. Like the State Trooper said in his opinion; you're probably doing it to at least one person a day. You might get away with it in this life but you will definitely be held accountable in the next,providing my conclusion is correct. The customer service at G&C is above and beyond. The individuals working there are knowledgeable and personable, and they take the time to get to know both the car and the customer. When we got our 10 year old car serviced (and she needed a LOT), they took the time to explain in detail about the value of each repair and how each repair would contribute to the longevity of the vehicle. The lobby is super clean and welcoming, and they've offered shuttle style drop off back home instead of leaving us to have to navigate rideshares etc. I couldn't be more pleased to find a mechanic shop that feels trustworthy and treats their customers with a level of respect and kindness that is unusual to find at ANY business these days, much less from an auto-mechanic shop! I recently needed new tires for my car and started shopping for a place who had them and could install them in a hurry. G&C was the pleasant surprise I found in Chantilly. When I called early in the morning, they said they didn't have my size in stock but could have them ordered and delivered by that afternoon. At the very time they promised, they called me and said the tires had arrived. I took my car to their shop and found an incredibly customer friendly environment with multiple, themed rooms for customers to wait in. One was equipped with computers for customers to use. The salesman, Steve reported back to me regularly to let me know what was going on with my vehicle. When they were finished, the invoice was actually slightly less than they quoted me. Overall they are straightforward, keeps you informed of the work status, and charges fair price for their work. The office staff are all friendly and ready to assist. The most recent experience I had was when I had all four of my Tesla Model 3 tires replaced. G&C was able to track down the make and model of the tires I wanted that were back ordered in many shops and installed them at lower price than their competitors. I have been to G&C 3 times, the first time was inspection. There was no line or anything I was the only one there, waited 45 mins and then they told me that their inspector was not in yet. So after that I hadn't been there in many years. I then needed a new tire and they are an installer for Tirerack. That transaction went flawlessly. Got a new tire easy peasy. So when I needed work to be done I thought hey let's give them another chance. So I went in yesterday at 1pm told the guy that I needed suspension work and the inspector from last year said I had leaking shocks. So I wanted a price to get that fixed and then get it inspected. All of yesterday I heard nothing, I called this morning no one had looked at the car yet. So I got an estimate today at 2:30. (So, 25 hours for an estimate? seems long) Well the price came back at $5,500 and they had failed the inspection. (well DUH I knew the car was going to fail inspection that why I came in). They were specifically trying to trap me into failing the inspection and a large repair bill. I would avoid this shop for any car that is older because if you fail inspection, you know you are going to get an inflated repair bill. They talk A LOT, and it sounds professional but in the end it's just talk. read more

- CROOKED SHOP & THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WOMEN- Since I work close by, I have come here on and off for a few years. I always knew that they were selling me on diagnostics I didn't need, and were overcharging me compared to my other shop, but I needed the work done and they were conveniently located to my job. As I write this I am so angry and disappointed by my last visit- came in for a headlight replacement and to update my inspection. They called me halfway through and told me that my car just failed inspection because the brakes and rotors need to be replaced. They told me I had 14 days to replace them and (of course) the cost was several hundred dollars. I decided to not replace them that day, I had a sketchy feeling in my stomach and felt like I needed to get a second opinion. Since then, I have taken my car to two other shops who both concluded that my brakes and rotors do not need replacing (curious!), And I passed my inspection as well. Sure, maybe they made an error in diagnosing my car. BUT, the worst of it was not just the fact that they were trying to scam me out of almost $1000 for no reason, but that day I also had to get my headlight replaced, and I told G&C to go ahead and do it. At jiffy lube, replacing a headlight is $25 (including parts & labor). Also, If you have ever changed a headlight yourself, you know it is extremely easy and can be done in less than two minutes. They charged me almost $80 ($60 of it being the cost of "labor") to replace the headlight. I honestly don't know how they have such good reviews, because this place is a total scam. I will NEVER come back here again, and will warn my friends to stay away. read more

Gregg, I think it is disingenuous to imply that different explanations or more pictures would have substantially changed my experience at G&C. Your employees counted on my ignorance, and charged me for a service they lied to me about performing. While I do appreciate being refunded for the fraudulent alignment charge, that refund didn't include the shop fee. I wasn't going to be petty about this $12+tax because I have better things to do with my time, like warning other people away from your business, but I take issue with your supposition that this refund was an appropriate remedy for the sequence of events that have been detailed in this exchange. The kind of systemic corruption I observed in G&C's business practices isn't erased by a check in the mail that took several phone calls to procure. I also feel as though your response has added an additional layer of condescension to that which I experienced in your shop. You seem to be implying that I did not carefully consider each word of my negative review. It is the only one I have ever written. I haven't shied away from writing negative reviews because I have experienced only stellar customer service throughout my entire life. But I wrote this one because it is probably the first time your employees have chosen such a poor mark. I wrote it because I felt as though it was my responsibility to make my experience public, and I hope it informs someone else. I wasn't looking for perfection when I chose to have my tires installed at G&C. We all do indeed make mistakes. What I do hope to encounter with businesses I patronize is integrity. WOW. I drove 40mins to have my car seviced at G&C Chantilly.  I do most of my car repairs/maintenance, don't trust just any mechanic.  The drive was worth it.  I emailed Ryan 2 weeks before I brought the car in for road force balance/mount matching, alignment, and inspection.  I have never gotten a report like Ryan sent me and Chris put together.  So detailed, pictures, description of items, recommendations, work accomplished.  All details right to my phone.  They have an amazing online portal where you can see all the information they took about the car, it includes videos as well.  Chris did an amazing job. My car drives smooth and straight down road.  The level of service is top of the line.  I couldn't come get the car before they close so they provided me a pin code to their key atm outside.  Put the pin code as provided when I arrived that evening and the key atm drops my key like a soda machine after you put the combination.  Wow.  The level of communication Ryan has and work Chris performed left me so impressed.   I didn't even have to pay over the phone or anything, Ryan emailed the invoice link, I paid online like I would when I buy something off amazon, quick, easy, and secure.  And their prices are very competitive, I had a price in my mind, I was surprised that it was lower.  Lol.  The level of service, in person communication, and online communication portal they provide you with is the best in the industry.  You can not get service with them and tell me somebody else provided you better.  They also provide live chat, free loaner car, and much more.  I may sound like a paid advertisement but the word needs to get out.  Everyone deserves this kind of quality sevice.  Worth every dollar. read more

I had my first experience at this shop today, it was kind of out of the blue as I've been looking for a new place that I can trust to take my car. Googling around I stumbled on this one. Expectations were set low (standard practice for any new shop for me regardless of the positive reviews) and I showed up this morning to my appointment. I was taken aback by how organized and detailed they were. Couple the above with professionalism, courtesy, a clean, well organized and extremely customer focused comfortable waiting room(s) (there's literally four of them) and it's the beginnings of an ideal experience. Then, a walk around inspection of my car with pictures prior to starting any work, and a conversation of what their shop is all about; I've never been more comfortable with leaving my car with anyone before now. I got updates via text and email, one of the shop managers called me to let me know that the car was done, what they'd found and didn't once pressure me to address anything else outside of the service that I brought the car in for. Today they had a catalytic converter etching event in conjunction with the Sully District Police Station. I am so thankful they had this as it was something that I had been wanting for our cars to act as a deterrent to the theft rings going around stealing the converters. Went there to change my wheels and tires, along with alignment. Throughout my experience I noticed something different where I have never gotten from any other tire shops. They inspected my car to see what needs to be changed and sent me documents for it, which was a first. Then I went there again, because I had spacers on my factory wheels and the wheels that were swapped were wider. I took 3 of the spacers out, except for one because it got stuck on the hub. So I took my car to have it removed, and did it free of charge. This shop has surpassed my expectations. I would recommend anyone I know to go to this shop! read more

They caused significant damage -- major scratches all around the rim -- on my new 2017 Corvette alloy rim while just trying to change out tires for the season. Their own service arrival report documents that there was no damage beforehand. But they refused to take responsibility and blamed me! This car is only a year old, tires worn less than a year, still have all the little rubber hairs intact, and has rim protection that would have protected the rim if I scraped a curb or another car brushed against my car. The car has no accident damage, and the rim damage done was on the inside edge of the rim only they could have caused when improperly removing the summer tire. I have gone to G&C twice now - the first time for a tire fix (nail embedded) and just now for my 20K service on my GTI. They are great, simple as that. Friendly, informative, they tell you what's going on, any issues, and they do work quickly and for what I consider a reasonable price. They fixed my tire in less than 30 mins, and i was on my way (probably 5 months ago when this took place). They researched what items needed to be done for the 20k service, I added one recommendation, and they said "sure, no problem". Just a great shop with great people. read more
