Mr. Lee is a great mechanic and you will be hard pressed to find a better value in KCMO.

Communication: I tried following the number in their VM to text for an appointment, but didn't hear back. I followed up several days later and was able to make an appointment for a potentially minor issue with my car. Once I was rolling, their communication picked up but was still pretty sparse. I had no idea if this was a one hour job, a one day job, or more. Time: I dropped my car first thing on a Wednesday at my appt time and didn't receive it back until Friday afternoon. There was no real time-consuming issue, I feel like they just never really got around to it which was a bummer. To their credit, they did confirm with me that it would be OK to stay an extra day (I have an e-bike so it worked out fine in the end) but that's a long time for what was a quick repair. Value: Good value, I felt the price I paid was fair for the work. Issue: I think my issues with the car will remain, however. I expressly told them about a sound and how to re-create the sound, and they claimed they never heard it. I can go out right now and make it happen clear as day, so again I feel like they just didn't really try to figure it out. I'll have to find someone else who can tackle it. I really, really needed to find a nice mechanic who I could trust after my good one closed and was so hopeful here, but ultimately it fell pretty flat. Not sure if I'd go back or recommend them.

Dear Yelpers, I…read morethink many would agree it is difficult to find a good mechanic. And by good mechanic, I mean someone who does good work, gets it right the first time and doesn't hose you over. When I lived in Jacksonville, FL, I had a mechanic I trusted emphatically. Viking Auto was definitely my mechanic of choice and Jon Braun had my full trust. After visiting some ho-hum mechanics in the Kansas City area, I have finally found my Kansas City version of Viking Auto. That, if you haven't figured it out by now, is Arnone's Car Care Center. Arnone's (pronounced Are-NO-knees) is tucked away in Northeast Kansas City, on the SW corner of 7th Street and Independence Avenue. Or if you're traveling I-35 north or Hwy 71 north, just take exit 2H and go a couple of blocks east and viola!, you're there. In addition, Arnone's is literally one block from the I-29 / I-35 exchange, making them easily accessible for practically everyone. Steve Arnone is one of the nicest men you'll ever meet. If you take your vehicle to him, he will always let you know what he finds PRIOR to doing any work, he will get your permission to do the work and he will give you a reasonable and fair estimate. Arnone's NEVER attempts to come up with any "fluff" just to wrangle extra money out of you. As I mentioned before, he is always fair, very honest and does not attempt to take advantage of customers. Most importantly, the work his staff does is excellent and they will get it right the first time. In addition, from time to time, Arnone's will have gently used vehicles for sale. These are vehicles he's put his personal stamp of approval on, so you'll know you're getting a very reliable mode of transportation. I enthusiastically recommend Arnone's for anyone's auto service needs. I guarantee you'll be impressed and you will be treated very, very well.
