Thank goodness for this place! I want to take it home with me. I just needed a place to surf the web and I found a beautiful place with great coffee and wonderful food (and reliable wifi too)! Sophisticated but cozy and laid back. The tables and chairs are comfy. The space is well lit with great natural light too. It's huge and there is room to linger all day if you want. The staff was very friendly. there are art and music studios in the building as well. I can't recommend it enough. I've lived in Atlanta, GA and Columbus, OH and I have my coffee favorites in both of those big cities. This place tops all of them. Laurel is a beautiful town that's fallen on hard times like so many small cities. it can be quite depressing but this is a very bright spot. If you are passing thru, stop into Lee's and stay a while. Chicken salad on lettuce with fruit was excellent. very carefully put together flavors - yum! Beef brisket sandwich also was excellent. Like a little side of pimento cheese? Here ya go. A funky and neat local place near downtown for coffee, sandwiches and salads. Quaint, Wonderful atmosphere, and is much larger on the inside than the storefront portrays. Unlike most "S-brand" coffee shops, it was quiet and a great place to sit and relax without the noise and hubbub. Then again, it was after 7:00 so think lunch is their busiest time. They offer live music on some days. I had the Chicken Ceasar Salad and a cup of Chicken and Rice soup. Both were delicious. The only negative here is the staff was somewhat unresponsive at first - you may need to wave your hands or speak directly to get their attention before being acknowledged. read more

Lee's Coffee and Tea is a perfect lunch spot in Laurel, MS. Their coffee/tea selection is average, but atmosphere and overall experience is great. The shining beacon of hope for this local spot in their food selection. The quesadilla and wraps are unquestionably above average, and merit a stop when in the area. I would be pumped to see them venture out in the coffee department and start taking risks. What if we they had a pour over option? What if they made a cold brew instead of iced coffee? So disappointing! I visit Laurel often, and this is my third visit to Lee's. Since there aren't many options to grab a coffee on the go, I've come back. First visit, we stood in line [with 5 people in front of us] for 40 minutes to order omelets and coffee. It took another 30 for our orders to be "up." Food wasn't great, but we were very hungry, so just ate and left. 2nd visit we ordered lattes that took 25 min., but this third visit prompted my review. 5 people sitting in the restaurant, 3 people working behind the counter. I ordered an American coffee (so I could serve myself), and my son, wanted a hot chocolate. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Seriously?! For steamed milk and chocolate syrup. When 25 minutes had passed, I went to the counter to ask how much longer it may be. I got a shoulder shrug, and an " I'm not sure. " Never again! My last visit to Lee's for sure. Although we didn't order coffee, we did order food and it was good. The chicken Caesar wraps were tasty, as was the turkey and Swiss sandwich. The price was reasonable considering they included chips as well. The staff were nice enough but not overly friendly. I stumbled across this place while working locally. Based on their description of breakfast and brunch, I initially ignored them as a lunch option. But then I checked out the menu and they have a good basic lunch selection. Really friendly service from the order taker to the young lady who brought my sandwich. Good portion sizes. The chicken salad on the croissant was very tasty. My only negative would have been that it would have been nice to get some lettuce and tomato on the sandwich. Maybe was an option and I didn't ask. But, it wasn't offered to me either. The atmosphere was really bright and friendly. Wasn't noisy. The tables are spread apart so you are not on top of anyone else. I also stopped in for coffee and a blueberry muffin one morning and wasn't disappointed. The muffins were really big. Will definitely be back again soon. read more

Stopped by for breakfast this morning. The coffee of the day was a light roast with flavors of dark chocolate, hazelnut, blackberries, and something else. It was really nice and you could smell/taste hints of those previously mentioned flavors. I ordered the breakfast sandwich - bagel with bacon, pepper jack cheese, spinach, tomato, and red onion. It's a shame how this place has gone down hill since the original owner passed away! Now they have poor customer service, long wait times, a cluttered dining room, and make orders without any care or concern. First of all, I would come all the way back here from Nebraska just for the vanilla bean chiller. It's the best frozen coffee I've EVER had. No bad after taste, has a hint of s'mores and cookies and cream flavor. Just amazing. Might get another for the road. Breakfast sandwich was really good, didn't feel scrimped from any of the ingredients I added. Chicken salad sandwich was exactly what we hoped for. Service is really kind and made sure to let us know that there would be a delay and came up to us to tell us about how much longer it would be even though it's pretty obvious they are understaffed but they are busting their butts. Men's restroom was a little dirty but that's most likely due to being understaffed. We also came in around an hour before close on a Sunday and had a hard time finding an open table. The decor is super charming and we definitely want to come back on one of their themed Saturday night events. read more

We ate here twice during our visit to Laurel. We enjoyed an excellent lunch. Pimento cheese sandwiches and hummus. Definitely try the pimento cheese. Blueberry iced tea was also delicious. The breakfast was a different story. Maybe we caught them on a bad morning, but the omelet was so dry it tasted as if it had been microwaved. Avocado was brown and spotty. We came to grab breakfast and coffee and we were underwhelmed. We ordered an omelette, breakfast sandwich, and a scone. The scone was one of the 3 available pastries in their display, which was pretty disappointing. They were probably left over from the day before. We ordered food at 815, and waited over 30 minutes for our food. There was ONE order in front of ours and it was not busy whatsoever. The onions in my omelette were raw, not cooked. Waited almost 20 minutes for two salads. After eating 3/4 of my salad I almost bite into a chunk of foil apparently from the blue cheese wrapper. A couple of more bites and I find another piece. Asked for the manager and to her credit she offered to make me another salad but I was almost finished and couldn't of eaten anything more. She took the pieces of foil away and said she would tell the kitchen about it. She never came back and offered any other remedy to make us feel like they really cared about us or the food. I always enjoy my visits here. This time I had a BLT with pimentos and cheese. I can't even describe how perfect it is! The coffee drinks are also on point. It is adorable inside and close to all the downtown locations like Laurel Mercantile and Handmade. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is now a little gift shop inside. read more

We went to Lee's for a late breakfast on Sunday morning. Our friends had stayed in Laurel the weekend before and they went multiple times. When we entered we were not greeted with hello or anything pleasant. We were greeted with " I'm just going to let you know, there is a 40 minute wait on food" and he looked disgusted that more people had come in to eat. He was not friendly at all, which gave me a bad impression off the bat. However, the food was good. We got omelettes with fruit and sweet teas. The omelette was fluffy and tasted good, not very big at all. I wish it came with some toast or some sort of bread. The inside of the restaurant was very cute, lots of places to sit downstairs and upstairs. I would probably eat there again when in Laurel but I hope the guy that obviously didn't want to be there is not there when I go. read more

While driving through Mississippi, headed for Tammany Trace, we stopped at Lee's for coffee and lunch. My hot pimento and cheese on wheat sandwich was very mild and good. My husband had the chicken salad on good white bread. My French onion soup was flavored with mushroom bits. So yummy. Hubby also liked his chicken and rice soup. A meal at Lee's is a must every time we visit Laurel. I always get the Chopped Salad and some type of sandwich to share with whomever I'm with. I love Lee's. You order from the menu, get your number, find a seat and one of their friendly staff will bring your meal to you. They have a decent amount of choices of different teas and coffees that I enjoy. The chicken quesadilla was delicious when I ordered it. Inside the restaurant is a really neat gift shop with unique gifts. I always enjoy browsing when I go. Lee's is always pretty quiet when I go & has a relaxing environment. Although I've never been to an event, there are always posters up that advertise their different events throughout the current month. All the rumors were true, this was a fantastic sandwich. I happen to know what pimento cheese is made from but I chose to ignore how unhealthy it was, I was in the south and I had to experience it!
