    Wine flights!

A very quaint and cozy wine bar in the heart of shockoe bottom! Leek & Thistle has an amazing wine selection and some of the cheapest wine flights in RVA! The owners are very pleasant and knowledgeable! Whether you are a novice or experienced wine connoisseur Leek & Thistle is a great pop-in spot! They offer a few light snacks that pair well with their wines.

This place is the perfect hang out and take out spot. This place focuses on wine, beer, restaurant quality take home food. My wife and I did a wine flight. We picked two whites at random and let the bartender pick two reds. The flights were great. We did not try the take home food but it all looked fantastic In short, this place is great local spot to enjoy a good drink. The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable. They also focus on the quality of the wines they buy from different regions of the world We will definitely visit again.

I was impressed with how many gluten-free options they had in their frozen cases! Everything was well labeled with the ingredients and food allergens. I highly recommend this place for all, but especially those who have food restrictions! Also, I did not really look through it, but it appears to have an amazing selection of wine as well!

Very place. Good customer service! Small but good quality menu ...... I would recommend for a nice quite personal wine experience.

If you ever were fortunate enough to visit the Truly Scrumptious stand, by the brilliant Mela Jones, at any of the RVA area farmer's markets over the last several years, and enjoyed her delicious soups, salads, and prepared meals/dishes, have I got news for you! Leek & Thistle, at 2112 E. Main St, https://www.leekthistle.com/ . The locally sourced, wholesome, thoughtful, and creative menu is delicious and perfect for same day heat and serve, as well as take away meals to fill your fridge or freezer. I love that they also have a wide selection of vegan & vegetarian options for 2 of our family members. In addition, their market also features wine and provisions from some great producers and purveyors. You will not go wrong with the quality and value of any bottles of wine you carry out to pair with the great meal thanks to their expertise and value selections at all price levels. Not a bad bottle to be had. Today we tried their amazing Normandy Chicken Salad Croissant, Caesar salads, both regular & an insanely great, plant based Caesar with cashew "Parmesan," & Quinoa salad with cashews. All were truly scrumptious. Try these folks!

There is a huge empty booth right in the front across from the hostess stand, no one was sitting there, we asked if we could sit there for just a moment to cool off in the AC- we were rudely told no we had to wait outside. The next family in line included 2 elderly women and a baby all dressed gorgeous, they also were told they had to wait outside in 105 weather. After about 20 minutes of waiting, (I was just going to tell them to forget it) they said our table was ready. Well, instead of inside with AC as we requested we were seated in a gazebo porch area that they claimed had AC. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.

We were surprised by the size of the restaurant when we walked in. It seems smaller from the outside; not that it was huge, just deceiving. It reminded me of a homey Jason's Deli (IYKYK). The woman at the counter was helpful and kind. We had a few questions about some items on the menu, and she asked the kitchen staff anything that she didn't know offhand. We decided on the fried cauliflower for an appetizer; it was monstrously huge, and much more flavorful than I expected. The spices and textures on the plate added a lot to the dish's overall essence. I ordered the Rachel for an entree, and my partner ordered the Sharona. I subbed the chips for a side salad. The salad was tangy or tart, almost bitter. I didn't mind; I thought it was quite good. It is a lot of acidity if you are not expecting it. The Rachel was fantastic, except that the coleslaw had some onion bits mixed in. We are not onion fans in this household. Ha The Sharona would have been a better choice, as I much prefer pickles to oniony coleslaw. My partner said she really liked hers. We had half a sandwich each for leftovers the next day, and shared the leftover chips, since I finished off my salad the night before. The sandwiches heated up exquisitely in the oven at 325°F for 15 minutes. I felt that Susie's is a definite hidden gem, and I can recommend it to anyone who likes a well-made sandwich. I will be back to sample more of the menu and report back my findings at a future date.
