We've been to different Ted's locations a few times, but never when they had their cinnamon roll, so we had to try it. It literally was as big as my head and it was delicious! The rest of breakfast was phenomenal too. My wife got the pancake stack and I got the avocado toast to balance out the cinnamon roll lol. 10/10 recommend for a delicious breakfast on the weekend. It's nothing fancy, but the food tastes so good and the servers were on point!

I decided to to bold and ordered the chicken and biscuits. Unlike the photos I saw on Yelp, they now give you two chicken biscuits and hash browns. I asked for the hot honey on the side but it was liquid instead of thick. It was delicious but not as spicy as I had expected. The biscuits were superb! So thick and flaky, freshly baked. I wish I had some jam on the side. The fried chicken was solid but thin so a little dry. My spouse had the burger and he said it was amazing. The fries are great but some were a little too salty. What was mind blowing and the reason we came in the first place were the Ted's Tarts. I absolutely love pop tarts from child hood but no longer eat them because I know better but these were the tarts of my adulthood dreams. We ordered one of each flavor because we were flying back to CA later that evening and also, why not? The fillings were rich and ultra flavorful. The pastry was flaky and delicate. Just WOW! Also, it is in a super cute neighborhood and it has a coffee/alcohol bar. I mean, come on!

It feels upscale and thoughtfully designed without being stuffy or uncomfortable. The duck absolutely lived up to the hype. I'm usually hesitant ordering duck since it can be undercooked, but this was done perfectly and incredibly flavorful. Easily the standout dish of the night. We also tried a fish dish that was solid, but if you're choosing, go for the duck every time. There's a mushroom appetizer that I wish I could remember the name of because it's a must-order. Same goes for the crudo, which was fresh and delicious. And I have to mention the bread and butter. The pink pumpernickel bread paired with that perfectly whipped butter was unreal. Simple, but done exceptionally well. The whipped mashed potatoes deserve their own moment too. They were so smooth and rich they basically melted in your mouth. And then dessert sealed the deal. The Black Forest cake was absolutely divine. Truly a 1000/10 moment. The only real miss for me came at the very end. They handed out bright red DoorDash bags for leftovers, and it completely clashed with the otherwise polished experience. When I asked about it, I was told they use them because they're free, which honestly made it feel even more out of place. A small detail, but it took away from an otherwise beautifully curated night. Overall, still an amazing dinner. Not sure what took me so long to try this place, but I'll definitely be back.

When we arrived for our reservation no one was at the hostess desk, and while other staff saw us no one acknowledged us directly for a few minutes. Another table for two was sat next to us a few a minutes after we were seated but had their order taken, food eaten, went to the bathroom, and left the restaurant before our entrees arrived (to be fair our server apologized for the delay but the damage was done). When my husband finally got his steak and eggs we were shocked at how small the portion was for the price, and the cut of meat didn't look very fresh. By the end of the meal. We were sure we offended the staff somehow because we couldn't understand all of the mishaps and timing. problems.

Idk how this is possible but it was my first time having chilaquiles and huevos rancheros so I don't have a reference point but either way I thought they were great. The steak con huevo was the best and the avocado huarache toast con huevo ties with the French toast for second place. The only thing we weren't huge fans of were the churros but I get the feeling we were approaching our limit by the time we made it to those. I really enjoyed the size of the menu which gave plenty of options to sample just like I like, but without getting too overwhelmed. Some menus are huge and it's great but everything gets lost in the sauce. At the end we found out they have a cafe essentially making it a one stop shop between the bar, the dining area (with the open kitchen), and the coffee shop. I visited at 5 PM on a Monday, right after they opened. We got some burgers and fries. The Terlingua Burger ($13 for single patty) comes with cheese, beef chili, onion and yellow mustard. The chili didn't stay on the burger. It was basically beef with more beef. Tasty but not that interesting. The Lancaster ($12 single) had bacon, cheese, pickled onion, tomato relish, and arugula. It was a bit sweet with the tomato relish. Pretty good overall. Fries ($6) are "curly-ish" in a shape I've never seen before. I didn't think they would have the right balance of soft to crispy, but they were great. Happy hour includes a $2 tallboy beer which is impossible to beat anywhere in DC. The Montucky Cold Snap was a light lager, like you'd expect. The place is small, but cute. I like the two-person mini-booths and the Tex Mex decor. 20% auto-grat even thought it's not a full service restaurant. They have signs on the table inviting you to get your own silverware, napkins, and condiments. We ordered by QR code and had staff bring us the food and bus the table.

We were seated on the ground floor. The decor was exotic in a pleasant way and it looked like there were many seating or standing options. It was quiet in the early afternoon. We ordered the fries with aioli, I had the lamb tartare and my friend the lamb bolognese, and we both had pound cake for dessert. We both deeply enjoyed the taste and presentation of the dishes we ordered. The fries were hot and crispy and the aioli delicious -- I only wish there were more given the generous portion of fries. My tartare had the taste and texture of pate, despite the lamb chop exterior. Very clever. The aroma was just right. The cake was warm and moist with a crispy crust. My friend remarked that dishes of similar quality, taste, and presentation would cost triple in Manhattan. Regrettably, we were charged $12 for the $10 dessert. The waiter attributed it to a "computer error," but I've had to deal with overcharging by several of my favorite DC restaurants. Whether intentional or not, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Other cons: The menu is admittedly sketchy. My friend and I were unwilling to gamble on expensive and elaborate dishes. It sounds like the reviewers here did. Also, the restaurant is located in the heart of Capitol Hill, far from the metro. It's a long walk or you'll be looking for parking. Butterworth's is now my favorite restaurant in DC. I've been wanting to bring my family here for the longest time, but I've hesitated because I don't want to deal with the contempt of the host, the embarrassment of disputing false charges, and the pain of finding parking. I've been wanting to return solo for the longest time, but I've hesitated because the place is in the middle of nowhere, and I don't want to walk 25 minutes or pay $15 for a cab ride just to pay another $50 for a meal here, as wonderful as the experience might be. All that said, in terms of taste, presentation, ambiance, and price, Butterworth's left a strong and positive impression on me.
