My five chicken wings with wedges, both fried hard and to perfection!!
    Venitra T.

I ordered my food thru Door Dash. I have heard so many wonderful things about the food over the years so when I was on Door Dash looking for places to eat for lunch I came across Yellow house. My food arrived withing 30 minutes. It was hot and fresh. I asked for my chicken and potato wedges to be well done and they were fried too perfection!! My son even liked his food and he is very picky about chicken if I don't fry it. I gave them 5 stars because they deserved it!! They knew the assignment!

Well...I went here, I got food, I ate...I left. A plethora of the people that follow my page, requested me to visit, and review this spot, so I obliged...much to my dismay. The food was good, the service was deplorable!! Unfortunately I expected the service at Yellow House located on 4011 Minnesota Ave., N.E. Washington D.C. to be subpar. I walk in, I was looked at, no other patron was occupying any space in there except me, not one person spoke to me. I walk to the counter...the cashier walks away. I noticed a sign that said cash only, I didn't ask...I just pulled some cash out. As the cashier came back (fully masked), I noticed she was clinching her masked covered nose. She didn't ask what I'd like to order, so I just ordered...5 wings, potato wedges, and a half and half (half tea drink half lemonade drink). The meal was $17.50, which is overpriced. It would be a 10 min wait so I walk back to my car. I walk back in, ten mins later, and there were 3 ladies in line. My food was ready, so she motioned, aggressively, for me to come to the counter. I went...she's still holding her nose. I was alarmed at that, and asked her was it me that was repugnant to her nostrils. She said yes!! Apparently my Frankincense & Myrrh fragrance disturbed her so much that she had to clinch her nose, over her mask, as if she were a novice going under water. The ladies in the spot became defensive, and assured me that I smelled good, and that the cashiers behavior was rude, and extremely childish. Please don't subject yourself to this behavior good people...it's not healthy for you nor them. Your dignity, integrity, and self worth are much more important than some convenient food that's not well priced!! I will NEVER go back to this place. That's it. #theyellowhouseminnesotaave #rude #subparservice #horriblecustomerservice #neveragain #thatsit

Bacon platter comes with home fries and scrambled eggs

What In the hell is this?! I ordered the bacon platter and this is it. Very disappointed in the portions and the limited selection of sides per platter. Additional sides are extra of course but how can you even call this a "platter". I honestly could've did a much better job myself but I wanted to give them a try. First and most definitely last.

Quick little breakfast carryout, decent selection of breakfast/ bunch item, but it a cash only!

This is by far one of the well known breakfast spots in town. It's always crowded, so I was able to hit them up before the rush. I ordered a SEC and wedges with Mambo. It was good. Not great but good. It is well documented by others that the guy that runs the counter has a bit of an attitude but he wasn't there this morning. Parking is a little questionable, especially because it's on a bus stop and the 7Eleven may tow you if you don't buy from them. The wedges were a little dry but flavorful.

I'm trying to cut out the useless carbs so I tried the fried chicken amd slaw. Holy crap, what an excellent meal. I got the hot which I was happy with, but fair warning there are big chunks of jalapeño in the slaw so dont overestimate your ability to do heat. The dressing on the slaw is a bit sweet and that counters a bit of the spice. This is a nice sized meal, a good amount of both slaw and chicken, and if that isn't enough the fries are great. Since that forst time I have been there every couple weeks getting the same thing and havent had a bad experience. The chicken is great and the people I have dealt with have been very nice. It does take a few minutes, but you get nice hot chicken so suck it up and wait, it is worth it.

Although the burgers are great I wouldn't suggest ordering fries‍ they are extremely underwhelming prepared with little to no salt.

It's ALWAYS people begging while pulling up I the drive through or once you're picking your food up at the window. Today, I specifically asked for 3 chicken nugget happy meals with extra fries in one and apple slices in the other, along with 3 #1 (Big Mac Meals). I had to ask for straws but once we arrived at our destination there was NO extra fries, they just put apple slices in ALL 3 happy meals and on top of that the apple slices were OLD. It seems they just given rotten apples and fruit to the kids. What made this worse and why I finally did a review was, they put tartar sauce on ALL of the big macs instead of big mac sauce. I'm too far and too annoyed to turn around. I just put some sweet and sour sauce on the big Mac to offset the taste. I've tried to give this location the benefit of the doubt but it seems they are becoming more careless. I would not recommend this location unless you're starving. Otherwise drive out of the city to another location. This poor service, poor food and lack of attention to details is NOT worth it. I know Ronald McDonald is turning over in his grave.

I had heard about this food truck recently, so the hubs and I decided to stalk them and try them out for a weekday lunch. We were a little nervous, as I noticed that they can sometimes close during rainy weather, but luckily, they pushed through the rain, which eventually tapered off! We ordered the Pork and Cabbage Dumplings (pan-fried and steamed; these had a more cilantro-like flavor to the filling) and the Crunchy Vegetarian (pan-fried; these were more flat and elongated; I actually really enjoyed these, as they were great with the Ginger Soy Vinaigrette; I first thought that there was some meat inside, but I'm thinking it's either tofu or soy protein?). It was interesting that the Pork and Cabbage had more of a stronger herb-y taste rather than the Crunchy Vegetarian. The Asian Noodle Salad didn't look like the picture on their menu; however, it was still simple and fresh, made with rice noodles, sliced carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, and crushed peanuts; much better dressed with the peanut sesame sauce! The Veggie Fried Rice was tasty, especially adding the Ginger Soy Vinaigrette to it! I also tried their Lemon Ginger Tea, which I appreciated it not being too sweet. It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!

I had hoped the rice would be seasoned, but it was just white rice. The overall restaurant vibe was very fun with loud music. It was crowded but there were still several tables available. Checkout process was easy as well. A happy little find I will be sure to come back to.
