I'm not so much for chicken itself, but I LOVE chicken livers. It's an organ meat high in iron. I consider it a special treat since I don't eat out much. I visited on a Wednesday right at 11am and ordered the chicken livers and when I opened up the box, the livers were dried out and hard. I could only eat about half of them, they were so hard and dried out, not a bargain for $8. When did they cook them? Guess I'll go somewhere else-this was Stellhorn and Maplecrest. read more

Ordered online (Lee's site) for curbside takeaway at 5:29pm. Email confirmation said it would be ready at 5:55pm. I arrived at the store, out front, in view of the line at 5:50pm. At 6:05pm I called the store. The lady who answered (she gave no name) said that they would have the order out to me in a few moments. At 6:47pm I walked into the store. gave my name, the gentleman on the line went to retrieve my order. He pulled it off a rack filled with other orders... doordash, their website, and someone else's tag was up there. I asked him when it was made. He told me like 5:50pm. I immediately asked to have the order remade. The "manager" started grumbling to me about it's not their fault if I waited an hour to come pick up the food. What she didn't understand is that I was the one who called her over 40 mins ago and she told me someone would have the food brought right out. Then she snapped at the line guys for not asking someone just sitting in the front of the store what I needed. Then she was rambling about how it's not their responsibility to make another meal, etc. Moral of the story... don't trust the "curbside" option on the main website. It doesn't work for this store. Your order will end up on a metal rack with a few others and sit until you go into the store to pick it up. We are into fried gizzards believe it or not! High into cholesterol and crunchy and greasy. Perfect for a guilty pleasure snack once in awhile. I like Lee's recipe.....add 2-3 drumsticks and you are off to the races! If you tuck the little box under your chin you can eat it on the way home as you finger feed your spouse as she drives. The great thing about Lee's is the chicken just always tastes great. Strips or regular, the taste is pure southern fried. I prefer the regular but I get the Spivey sometimes. Their sides are good but except for the green beans it's all carb heavy; this place is comfort food after all. I have no experience with their service inside as I always get pickup at the drive through. The location on DuPont is always fast. The line is never very long. read more

DO NOT get the so called Fish and Chips w/ potato wedges. It was $6.49 with tartar sauce. We decided to try it. They gave us a tiny little box , and Husband wondered what was in it. Biscuits ? Fry wedges ? Sauces ? No, there were fry wedges AND 3 of the tiniest pieces of fish we ever saw. They were not very crispy, bland, and the fish had a weird texture. Sorry for this visual, but I spit my bite out. The wedges were good. Go back to the drawing board on these pieces of fish. And for the price, a few bigger pieces. Terrible service. You order at the speaker, pay at window and after told there is a 9 minute wait for spicy. Got home and the entire order is wrong. The quality of their food has been on a steady decline, their service is also not like it use to be. Our recent visit started off with rude service, prices don't match the website and when asked for a manager she was rude and mumbled under her breath as she couldn't give an answer why we got the wrong order and why the price was different and did not give a receipt. I am just making this review for people who have never had Lee's before, not specific to this location. So Lee's is essentially a smaller chain version of KFC/Church's. Their food is not bad but, I find it to be a little more sloppy and a lot more greasy than the aforementioned. I mean you can only have mid level expectations to begin with for a chain fried chicken restaurant. I would say Lee's is worth a try if you're low on options but, if I want a bucket of chicken I would not choose them over KFC, Popeyes, etc. read more

For chicken and fast food, they do a good job. I like the potato wedges and breast strips, yum. Wish they carried fried shrimp all the time and not just certain times of the year. After eating at this location many times i must admit Lee's Recipe chicken beats Kentucky fried hand down. The flavor is distinct and the chicken is much lighter and not so greasy. They have a Chicken Pot Pie that rivals the famous Marie Calenders Caliber. So good and so big it is definitely a bargain that can't be beat. They have a good sweet tea always made fresh and brewed in the southern tradition. Their chicken is similar to KFC in the way the chicken is "overcooked" to softness, except that in my opinion, the overall quality and taste is one notch lower than KFC. First off, I am a KFC type of guy. I only came here because my girlfriend likes oven roasted chicken instead of the crispy chicken. The service is very hit or miss, but the chicken is way better than KFC, and the food is a pretty good deal when you use coupons. Our family's favorite items are the crispy spicy thighs and breasts, the potato wedges, the coleslaw, and the mashed potatoes and gravy. Order the same thing pretty much every time and it's delicious. 3 piece strip meal, famous style with some mash and baked beans. My wife likes the coleslaw too. I've been going to Famous Recipe since I was a little kid. The chicken is always amazingly moist and very flavorful. Their side dishes are superb. I particularly love the cole slaw (creamy and delicious) and the green beans (slightly spicy with bits of bacon in there). The biscuits are great with a drizzle of honey on top. My wife and I are not from around the Fort Wayne area originally and fell in love with Lees when we moved up here and tried it. I absolutely love their spicy recipe and get the breast and thigh meal all the time. Today we went through the drive through and I was informed that now, when you get a meal, they only have the option for DARK meat. If you want a cut of white, they charge EXTRA. To me, this makes NO sense and I was given no explanation as to why. In addition to this new found rip off, the lady working the drive through was not friendly at all and put off negative energy and attitude like it's nobody's business and didn't even ask if we wanted any honey or jam to go with our biscuits (which is fine if they just go ahead and throw some in the bag). I informed my wife that I will give them one more shot and if I get up charged again for wanting a meal with white meat, I will NEVER go back, which will be disappointing because the food is really good and definitely beats out KFC. read more

The chicken was actually overly greasy while still being dry. It also had clumps of uncooked breading on the breasts. The gravy was thin and watery as were the potatoes.
