81. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich
Charline T.

Came in almost every morning for Fanime weekend and was a solid experience every time. A bit of a wait since it was busy, but food still came pretty quick. A small spot in downtown near campus, there's a few tables both in and outside. Space is clean, nicely designed, and has plenty of options. The Vietnamese coffee was pretty standard, but the breakfast croissant was my favorite. It was flaky, warm, and tasty. Came back basically everyday for it! There's also other hot and prepared food, so it's a great spot to grab something quick to eat.

On the same street as the convention center, we grabbed some lunch from Lee's including chicken yakitori and bbq chicken spring rolls. It was nice to be able to easily find this kind of food. I haven't seen yakitori since I was a kid! We got takeout, so I can't speak to the service. Definitely go back for yakitori!

The weirdest faucet in downtown

The 5 stars is for having the most unusual faucet in downtown San Jose. Water comes out of it for washing. Then air comes out of it for drying. It looks like a Tesla steering wheel is over the sink. See picture below: I noticed that sometimes the bread here is not as crispy as the bread from over by Grocery Outlet, but this location seems cleaner. The staff did an excellent job of helping first-timers from the hotels with their orders.

Lees sandwhiches in DT San Jose isn't much. The store is bright and clean with few tables and high top wall seating and menu has a lot of options from breakfast sandwhiches, stew and bahn mi. The bahn mi are more of your American sandwhich option, think turkey, roast beef and not pate like your traditional bahn mi. For $10.xx it really wasn't good. No cilantro or jalapeños, only few slices of meat. Order at the counter and wait for your food. Street parking only

Lee's is always a reminder of my college days back when banh mi was about $3 - $5 and life was a lot simpler. I wasn't originally planing on grabbing a sandwich until I noticed an entirely new, vegan menu. Damn, they got me gal - all $16 of my vegan chicken katsu banh mi. Their sandwich was just as I remembered. Fried mock chicken katsu with pickled veggies, jalapeños, and cilantro tucked inside a toasty baguette. I honestly can't remember if there was an actual spread inside since I ordered the vegan option, but it was still a good enough sandwich. I'm surprised to see that they offer mock meats now but it was definitely worth a try. For the price though, I likely won't be returning anytime soon. I don't know if I can justify spending nearly $20 on a sandwich again that used to cost me less than $10, even with how crazy inflation has been over the years.

Lee's Sandwich Shop definitely delivers when it comes to flavor--sandwiches looked fresh and were packed with tasty ingredients, made to order. You can tell they care about quality. However, the experience was held back by a long wait due to not enough staff on hand. It took quite a while to get my order, over 30 min for just one sandwich, which made the visit less enjoyable. I was ready to give 5 stars, but service matters--so it's a 4-star for now. Hope they can improve on that front, because the food is worth coming back for!

Super convenient location downtown near SJSU. Fairly new, so it's very clean and the service is quick and friendly. Been here a few times now and it's been very consistent. I usually get the grilled pork banh mi and always ask for extra pickled veggies, cucumber, and cilantro. Also highly recommend the eggrolls since they're always hot and crispy- the shrimp one is the best!

Had a great experience here at Lee's Sandwiches. This isn't your typical Lee's Sandwiches. The store is very modern and the menu is larger than the usual stores. I thought the service was amazing and I got my banh mi in around 5-7 minutes. With this shop being right next to San Jose State, it gets super crowded during lunch times, but I love how lively it gets. All of the ingredients are fresh and I love how much pate they put in the sandwiches. Definitely recommend if you're hanging out in downtown!

YAY! It finally opened. Loved how clean, modern this location was. The menu is pretty standard across all Lee's so you what to expect here. Service: Staff were friendly and attentive. Food: Nothing different than the usual which is comforting. That's what I like most about Lee's. I had just came from a workout so I got the avocado smoothie and a sesame ball. Looking forward to many more visits!

Great Banh Mi. Great snack selection of Pandas. Seating for 12 inside and 8 for outside. Excellent iced coffee as always!

Instruction to label each sandwich.

I ordered 16 banh mi sandwiches on 11/15/2024 through Yelp for a 11/16/2024 pickup, with specific instructions -- no onions or jalapeños on specific sandwiches, and asked to label each sandwich using a code I provided in the order (important due to onion allergy). When I picked up the order, NONE of the sandwiches were labeled. I went back to point this out to the guy who handed me the order, and his excuse was, "I didn't have time to label." Then he actually said, "Can you just open each sandwich?" Are you kidding me?? The onions and jalapeños were buried between the meat and pickled turnip. How am I supposed to disassemble each sandwich to figure out which one is which?? I explained to him that one parent is allergic to onions and I asked for a replacement for just ONE (1) sandwich (#5 Grilled Pork, NO ONIONS). I ended up waiting over 30 minutes and missed my team's volleyball match just because I had to argue with him. He was completely hard-headed and unwilling to acknowledge the mistake. If you're not going to follow instructions, why even bother offering online ordering with special requests?? Huge waste of time. I won't be ordering from here again.

Occasionally burnt espresso but I love them too much to mind. I am a matcha snob to say the LEAST. Hands down best coffee shop matcha in the Bay Area. The classic iced matcha latte with honey is grassy and earthy and creamy and a little sweet. The iced banana pudding matcha latte had people lined up around the corner for months when it came out. It is deliciously worth the wait. Best banana cold foam in my opinion because it's made with actual bananas instead of flavoring so it's much more mellow. The double matcha they had for awhile is also awesome. Banana cold foam also goes great on an espresso latte. Now they let you add whichever cold foam you like to whatever drink which is great. Basically you can't go wrong. They are always changing up the menu for the new season and have lots of unique drinks on their menu. Not much seating inside at this location. The winchester Blvd one has more if that's what you're looking for. Their pastries are also all yummy and they sell their matcha powder for $60 for 100g which is a GREAT price for a great matcha. I would've gate kept this place but everyone already knows about it so I HAVE to show them the love they deserve!!

I got the melon matcha with whole milk and the matcha cream top. I think I like their guava matcha more than the honeydew, but it was still good. It had a distinct honeydew flavor and the matcha itself was smooth. A friend of mine tried it and said it tasted like a lip smackers, which I think is a good way to describe it. I came on a Friday morning and it wasn't too busy. All the seats inside were taken but there were open tables outside. There's metered parking along Second and William street and it wasn't hard to find a spot. I love coming to academic and trying their new drinks, so I'll definitely be back.

Since Matcha has exploded in popularity to my annoyance, (I say this because I was into Matcha before it started trending), I had to try. Once inside, everything looks aesthetically pleasing with seating on either side up against the walls. The layout is clean and non cluttered which I can appreciate from a design standpoint. The menu is clearly displayed on the countertop and it's nice to see that you still have an actual person to take your order. No iPad ordering here. Please keep it that way! I also loved the high ceilings and bright light from the floor to ceiling windows in the front. As you look to the right, you can also see all the Arisan branded products including canvas tote bags and loose leaf tea canisters lining the wall shelves. Nice touch. Now let's get to the good stuff. They specifically told me about one drink that was so unique and refreshing. Which drink was it? **Matcha Cloud Coconut Water $8.95- 100% fresh young coconut water + Matcha cream: This drink was so unique because the coconut water was so distinct and refreshing. The Matcha cream sat on top before slowly trickling down to mix in with the coconut water. I would have never thought to put these 2 flavors together. It was delicious especially on a day where it was 97 degrees here in SJ.

Looking at their menu online, I do not see an option to simply have Matcha over ice with water. So at the counter, I ask the gentleman who was super polite and professional for matcha and water and he started suggesting alternatives with creme or other sweeteners etc. I said "hey I'm just trying to be healthy and not have any sugar, can I just get matcha and water and you can charge me whatever you like" the worker was completely baffled, turns around and asks, who I think was a boss, behind him, "can we just do matcha and water?" The manager with eyes of confusion is literally facing me but won't acknowledge me as I politely say "just looking for straight matcha and water, you can charge me whatever" the manager who never makes eye contact, ignores me like I'm invisible then tells his worker "oh no we can't do that" ...the polite worker turns back to me like I couldn't hear it and true to form like a Dilbert cartoon, smiles and says "oh I'm sorry we can't do that"... so I just said, okay and walked out... I get that I'm rare. I get that 95% of people want matcha with milk, cream, sugar, this/that but am I in an alternate universe??? Why is this so difficult?! I've beem too many places who serve Matcha-canos, matcha over ice with sparking water, flat water... I didn't even get to the stage of asking them to put it in my yeti rather than a plastic cup! There has to be more people like me who simply want Matcha and its health benefits without sweeteners and other stuff?!

For $8, a dollar a sip. In this economy ?!? I got robbed. Next time I'll stick to Izumi or soyful. My friend got the jasmine matcha, no changes and had plenty to drink still long after I finished mine. I went for the creamy MT from soyful after to drown out my sorrows. Unlikely to come back, this was a disappointing experience. Their other drinks seem good though.
