My experience at Williams Seafood was delightful. I went in the afternoon when it was nearly empty and ordered a po-boy of half shrimp and oysters that was prepared quickly, was absolutely delicious and a very generous portion size. The decor was cozy and filled with interesting pictures and articles. The food was so fresh and amazing. The gumbo was so flavorful. The place itself was clean, and the staff were welcoming a patient. I got the shrimp on a bun special to go and it was sooo delicious. I ate the entire thing with a little tartar and hot sauce. It came with fries and I ordered the onion rings to try. Note: if you order onion rings, eat them inside because the texture will change when placed in a container. Can't wait to come back and enjoy one of their poboys! read more

Place was pretty good to hit up right after landing. I did dock a star because it wasn't very clear that poboys could be ordered in smaller portions or what came as a combo. Because of this, we ordered poboys and had to pay extra for shrimp and much of our meals went to waste. Additionally, I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp poboys and the shrimp tasted fresh out the gulf, which sounds good, but it's not. I don't want to taste the gulf. I've been going to this wonderful joint since they first opened when I was in high school, and it has either been consistently great or gotten better since. There has never been a visit to town where I haven't made time to stop by here to grab a shrimp po-boy. I know I reviewed it a year ago, and this is just to confirm that it's still one of the best in the entire New Orleans metro area. We flew in from Tampa and needed something to eat before our drive to Baton Rouge. Williams seafood was just the place. We ordered shrimp po boy and a roast beef in the 6 inch size and they were much larger. Everything was fresh and made to order. I needed at least 10 napkins to eat my roast beef. We had a party of 3 and the food quality was very good. We had gumbo which had lots of shrimp and other seafood. We also had small shrimp po-boys. All the food arrived steaming hot to our table. In town for work wanted to eat something local so found Williams Seafood near my hotel. Ordered the shrimp Po Boy Sandwich. It was good but don't think it was local Gulf shrimp (frozen maybe). The food is freshly prepared. I had shrimp po boy WOW. Shrimp was so fresh tasting. Not greasy Not chewy. Just right. No French Bread Served At This Place. They served a po-boys on Vietnamese bread which is about 7 inches of length not 12 or 11. The french fries are soggy and they usually short on stuff so you have to check your order before you leave. Sometimes they give you limes instead of lemon. Crazy right!!! read more

My sister was visiting from California & I picked her up in NOLA; we both wanted some good cajun food, but no tourist traps! Williams seafood did not disappoint, it's been 3-4 months now & I cannot recall exactly what we ordered, but I know two fantastic po-boys (probably a shrimp & half shrimp/oyster) & a couple of cups of fabulous Gumbo & a fried appetizer (pickles I think) appeared on or table in exchange for a mere ~$37... WOW! Good bye forever to stupid, overpriced touristy joints when I'm visiting NOLA. Williams seems to be a locals joint, as many patrons came in & were immediately greeted by first name. Williams deserves high-praises: friendly/locals type of service with first-name recognition, excellent quality food prepared well &all for a reasonable price, I will be back! I also recommended Williams to my youngest son & his girlfriend when they were in NOLA a few weeks later & they both said it was awesome!. One of the best shrimp sandwiches (on bun) that I've had in a long time. It was just perfection. Big perfectly fried deveined shrimp - almost too hot to eat- on a brioche bun. Yum!! And the fries were amazing. Also perfectly cooked, hot and crunchy. - and never got soggy! Stayed crunchy til the end. It's a walk up to counter, order, sit down at one of 7 tables and your food is brought to you. Not fancy - food is delicious! I have passed this little place for years on my way to Rouses, and never stopped. I will definitely plan to eat here in the future. My love for New Orleans food has been irrevocably destroyed due to William's Seafood. They used small bait shrimps with veins on my Shrimp PoBoy and it was disgusting. Unacceptable! I high tailed it back to California to vote for Trump and vowed never to return. read more

My husband and I knew we were a little crazy for going to a place that sells a lot of fried seafood, an hour and a half before they closed, on Good Friday. Sure enough, they were crazy busy and several menu items were sold out. However we were able to order/ an order of hush puppies, a small shrimp poboy, and a shrimp and oyster seafood plate with fried okra. Everything was fried to perfection. Nothing was over cooked. While getting my nails done on yesterday I noticed this little seafood restaurant next door. I told my nail tech I've been wanting some good grilled seafood. Didn't do a normal over the phone order. I ordered at the counter. The woman that were taking orders was a ball of delight. Customer Service was magnificent. We thought this place was great. We stopped here because I've been to NOLA several times but never once had a poboy. So, we split a poboy with Patton's spicy sausage and a bowl of gumbo. Asian Ccreole is what you are getting here. $20 for one piece of fish and one soft shell crab. That's a bit much. That was better than grilled version but that's not saying much either. Grilled fish was bad and fishy. Shrimp was ok. The jambalaya was no good either. Gumbo was like cream of mushroom or some sort of beef gravy tasting thing. It was weird and not a real roux. The crawfish boudin surprisingly was not that bad. A little dry but at least decent flavor. Only ate here cause it was close to hotel with decent reviews. Won't do that again. read more
