I have truly low standards (I got a burrito at Taco Bell after this cuz I was so hungry and commented on how much better than this food it was) but this place didn't even come close. So desperate for good Chinese on the coast. This was not it. We were told 15 minutes we took 25 and order was not done. We took the order home and when we got it out of car something had leaked all over. We rushed to get it in other containers. omg all the food had a funny off flavor we couldn't eat crab wontons so so fishy tasting gross then as we were leaving to parking lot we saw big tubs of fish carcasses out back next to their backdoor so i thought they filleted there our halibut we asked the cook what does he make with halibut he said soup and these r not for sale and he brought the big tubs inside so gross iam telling u the tubs with flies all over the fish carcasses was going to be boiled and use for the soup we through out all our 60.00 leftovers out totally grossed out read more

OK for what you will get on the Oregon coast regarding Chinese food. Everything was ok, but nothing special. We ordered the fillet mignon and found out it was just tomato beef with a higher price. I ordered takeout. The pot stickers were nothing like traditional pot stickers. The dough, whatever it was, was way too thick. My wife and I gave them a culinary challenge and they hit a home run. Excellent cooking! We came from a fishing trip and staying at the adjacent Rodeway Inn. We had extra fish that we couldn't refrigerate and we went across to Lee's to see if they could cook it for us as part of our dinner. They looked at the fish and remarked that they don't even have fish dishes on the menu. But they took on the challenge and delivered 2 beautiful fish dishes - a spicy fish stir fry with vegetables and a Chinese style steamed fish (with herbs). I can't comment on their other dishes but what they did for us really demonstrated at least their cooking skills. Great job! read more

Because we live here on the coast, we've had time to try many of the traditional American-Chinese food places on this 45-miles stretch of highway. And while all we've tried pass our most crucial test (no MSG! -- bad allergy!!!) -- they all also have one other commonality -- they all taste and appear to have come from the same original cook's training ground. Veggies here are plentiful, but strain the limits toward being overcooked. Seasoning is somewhat bland. "Egg rolls" appear to be battered and/or double fried, which makes them slightly greasy and bread-y tasting, (and contribute to the over-cooked-ness of the veggies) -- and many of the dishes share a very similar seasoning profile. I will say that when I'm really hungry for beef and broccoli, or a nice taste of fried rice, if it doesn't hit the *exact* spot -- it comes very close. Certainly close enough to keep me from driving an hour inland in search of egg drop soup. It looks like at least a part of the draw here has to do with lottery or other game traffic. So if that's your thing -- it may turn this from casual lunch into a must-stop kind of place at the beach. They also do to-go orders -- always important in a coast spot! read more

Best Chinese retsaurant in Newport. Hands down! After a long night came in and was served very fast. Came in on a friday night. The waitresses are kind and quick. First we ordered the Wonton Soup. AMAZING! Delicious and perfectly spiced. Very good. Next was the Beef Potstickers. Probably the size of my fist, but nontheless very good. Crisp, tasty, and delicious. Then we had the Beef with Broccoli. Another top-notch dish. But the dish could feed all of Newport. But I dont care about the portion size. It could've been gigantic portions or the size of a dish at the French laundry and I still wouldve been satisfied. Lastly we ordered Chicken Pan-Fried Chow Mein. BEST DISH OF THE NIGHT!!! This place is a gem in Newport!! You can't find any other better Chinese restaurant than this place I tell you. This place is a family owned restaurant. So don't be alarmed if the owner's kid is serving you. They do an excellent job and is very professional for their age. Now let me break it down for you... Ambience: semi-loud; really good for large groups and kids; has a lot of tables and comfy booths available; good lighting; bright interior; and extremely clean environment. Doesn't have that icky wet towel smell like most restaurants. Thank god! And you can reservations for private parties. Food: Their portion size is huge! One plate can literally feed 2.. and can I say CHEAP for the amt of food you get. Some of my favorites are: crab cream cheese wonton (aka crab rangoon), honey walnut shrimp, BBQ pork, sizzling rice soup, wonton soup, sesame chicken, szechuan green beans, lemon chicken, beef chow fun, pork low mein. ps... Lee's also has a full bar service and gambling machines in the next room called the Bamboo Lounge. Best of all, the lounge is non-smoking, can eat inside, drink, gamble, and watch TV. read more

All the food was amazing, and my friends who recommended this place were spot on with this place. The Lee's obviously care about the quality of the food they send out. Additionally, the food came out in less than 15 minutes which surprised me. I had place this order to go at the restaurant and waiting less than 15 minutes was phenomenal to me. Lastly the customer service; I came in with my nephew and rowdy 18 month old...the lady who took our order was prompt, courteous and took the time to talk to us between customers going to her. Will definitely eat here again on our next visit to a Newport, OR. This place is a real sleeper. I have driven by a dozen times and never gave it a second thought. However , we needed a place that was open and kid friendly for a evening meal on vacation, and so we landed here. The food is excellent. Lee's Wok is the kind of place you go if you are looking for cheap, americanized chineese food. The last time I was there (which was a while ago), the decorations were cheap and sparse (plastc flowers, a fish tank with a few goldfish in the entryway), but I am told that they are getting better. The temperature control was never very good. It was clearly a family-run business- one time our waitress had her newborn infant with her while she was taking our order. The portions are HUGE. You should expect to take at least half of your dish home for later. And all the dishes are super cheap! Most of the dishes are pretty americanized (so I am told by my Chinese friends), but they are still decently tasty. The place fills up quickly around noon on Sundays-- it is a hot spot for the post-church supper crowd. read more

Food is fine, about what you expect from a strip mall Chinese joint: expensive, but made up for by portions. The service is my issue. I used to frequently get take out from here, maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Every time I was given wait times that were grossly incorrect. The most recent one was my last straw. I was told my order would take 10 minutes. I arrived about 15 minutes later and was told my food was still not ready. So I sat down to wait. The server continued helping other people waiting, spending upwards of 8 minutes on a guest who had no idea what her husband ordered or what phone number he used. So she went back and forth from the kitchen and finally, after 8 minutes got her food. The same level of detail was not given to me. After helping this lady for 8 minutes she simply asked the next person in line how she could help them. At this point I could see my order, my name and my phone number sitting on the counter. But instead of getting my food the server just blithely went on to serve the next person in line, as if I was supposed to get up and get back in line because I had been given the wrong wait time. By the time this happened I had spent nearly 40 minutes waiting, 20+ of it in the lobby. This is just bad service. read more
