This is the first time in many years that I've given a 1-star rating to a restaurant. I hate to say it, but this food just isn't good. It's very bland, definitely needs MSG, chicken powder, and salt in EVERYTHING. We ordered two different combos, a noodle dish, and a large soup. The cost was $70 and not worth $20. You get huge portions, but it doesn't taste good. POTSTICKERS - these are very thick, gummy, and flavorless. They are not steamed and crisped in a skillet the way they should be. They are deep fried but because the wrap is so thick, they aren't crunchy, they're just hard. The filling has no flavor. The sauce had too much sesame oil and not enough vinegar, so it was low in flavor. HOT & SOUR SOUP - the worst soup I've ever had. It's not hot or sour but it is extremely sweet and as thin as water. I'm talking so much sugar that you really can't taste anything else. There's no carrots or mushrooms, just a tiny bit of egg, a few bits of water chestnuts, and probably 2 ounces of tofu. I tried to save it by adding more vinegar and msg, but I could not add enough to overpower the sweetness. None of us liked it and it didn't get eaten. KING PAO CHICKEN - this was missing the small red peppers, so it lacked spiciness. All the other normal ingredients were included, but it had no flavor. BEEF & VEGETABLES: had all the right ingredients, but the meat had no sear so it was grey and had no flavor. It might as well have been tofu. The sauce was flavorless. VEGETABLE LO MEIN: this was the best thing we tried, and it was just passable. The noodles were thicker than they should be so it felt gummy, and again there just want enough flavor. PORK FRIED RICE: this was old, dry, and flavorless. I didn't find a hint of meat in it, no green onions, no vegetables. It was basically old, hard rice with soy sauce. SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN/PORK: both of these could have been the exact same dish, as the chicken and pork were indistinguishable from each other because neither had any flavor. The meat was cooked well, not too dry, and the fresh batter was light and crispy. The sauce was pure sugar, no sourness, so there just wasn't any flavor. EGG ROLLS: these are not egg rolls, they are ordinary crispy spring rolls with no meat. Basically they are just filled with a flavorless cabbage mixture. But they were crispy, at least. OVERALL: it may be fast, and it may be large portions, but if it tastes so bland you don't want to eat it, it's not worth it. read more

It surprised me, I walked in and was greeted by a nice old man that didn't seem to speak much English but I of course didn't mind, and if anything made me feel like it was an authentic Chinese restaurant. Ive been to Chans many times. Went yesterday and had the egg rolls. They looked disgusting, chopped up in pieces. They didnt have any flavor. I let my friend taste, no flavor. When I brought to the owners attention, instead of train to make me happy and come back, she argued with me and then she played the race card. Just had a combo dinner at Chan's Chinese restaurant in McMinnville OR. The wonderful server lady was fast, friendly and attentive, but didn't hover. The egg flower soup was delicious and savory. I had the number 2 combo which was fried shrimp, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, and pork chow mein. I added pan fried noodles for a small charge. The food was fresh, hot, and top-notch! Portions were HUGE. All together our meal cost for the two of us was 33 bucks and I feel like we got great value for the money. We will definitely be customers again. read more

I am not here to trash a business, just letting everyone know what to expect when eating here. I ordered the #2: Fried Shrimp Pork Chow Mein (or Chicken Subgum) Sweet & Sour Pork Pork Fried Rice I read the reviews before and still decided to come, so only I am to blame, but this is not what I expected. I've tried everything many times before, yet this surprised me. The sweet and sour pork was so breaded, yet the bottom half was soggy due to the sauce in the "pork chow mein." Now, the pork chow mein had no noodles, only ground-up bits of pork and bean sprouts. The "pork fried rice" had little to no pork and only tasted like salt. I am new to McMinnville, so I'm not sure of the standard of Chinese food, but compared to other places in the Portland Metro Area, this is not good. The third pic is all that I ate. My girlfriend said the Bean Curd w/Vegetable in Szechuan Sauce was soggy and salty, so I'll leave it up to whoever is reading this to make their decision. read more

After several days in wine country, we were really craving Asian food. Chan's had the best reviews in the area so we stopped by for a weekday lunch and ordered from the lunch special menu. We got the shredded pork with garlic sauce and Chan's deluxe cooked in black bean sauce. Overall, the dishes were on the sweeter side, minus the deluxe entree. The sweet and sour soup was quite different from others we've had and the pork dish was neither garlicky nor spicy (as it typically is at other places). We didn't expect food to be super authentic here but the sweetness levels were higher than anticipated. The deluxe was pretty decent and our favorite of the bunch. I used to go here when I was in town. And loved the Chicken with Grean beans & black bean sauce. I was passing through and decided to stop in and get my go to lunch. The waitress sat us and got us some tea and water. She never came back to take our order. In the meantime she sat more people , helped walk in orders, helped people over the phone and took someone else's order that was seated after us. And then we heard that the last Grean bean Chicken order was ordered by a walk in customer. That was really disappointing! What I came for was gone. If we had been helped in a timely manner I would've been able to order what I came for. We must have been sitting there 20 minutes. We ended up walking out! read more

I have eaten at chans for many years and always thought it was good. I have not been in a couple of years and wanted Chinese food so we ordered some takeout. I must say without a doubt that it was the worst Chinese takeout I have had in my life. The sweet and sour pork was huge balls of bland, soggy breading with a tiny piece of pork buried in the middle. Mother's chicken (which used to be my one of my favorites) was soggy, flavorless and again more breading than meat. The egg roll was very soggy and had no taste and finally the pork fried rice tasted like it was burnt and scraped from the bottom of the wok. Very disappointed and will not return. read more

The food is splendid, the service is amazing if you are picking up an order they will offer you hot tea, so nice. If you already live in oregon or plan to move to oregon this is a very place to try! There really aren't any good Chinese restaurants in Mcminnville. I wish that would change. We have eaten at this restaurant 2 or 3 times but the food is not great. It is just OK. I wish they or another Chinese restaurant would get their act together because we love Chinese food and if there was a good one in Mcminnville we would probably eat their at least once a week. read more

chan's is wonderful they have amazing food and the staff is so friendly and has great recommendation. My favorite is the Kung Pao beef minus the veggies and the potstickers here are amazing just ask for extra potsticker sauce to dip your beef into it's the best I have ever had. I purchase a 16 ounce container of potsticke sauce to go you can dip anything in it and it will be delicious. try getting a big container of potsticker sauce and using it for a chicken wing glaze or to dip some tender beef in. read more

Came here for a party to celebrate with some friends and family during the grand opening of this establishment at the time. The ambiance was good, as it was full of people and the service was bustling. More importantly the food that was served was very good and while it may have been authentic dishes as a result of the party, I am still impressed as the surrounding area would suggest otherwise. The decor of the place is nice and while it isn't the most spacious restaurant in the area, they certainly make do with what they've got. Various Chinese paintings, signs, and decorations hang vividly from the ceiling and walls to create an charming effect that only certain Chinese restaurants can pull off. Really really wanted amond fried chicken but its not on the menu. So anything else was going to be not as satisfying. Ordered #7 combo (not the lunch special) because I wanted to try several things. The egg flower soup was good, not too gross to eat (its a texture thing). Plate came mounded with a huge helping of pork fried rice, bbq pork, sweet & sour chicken and several fried shrimp. Enough food to easily serve 2, if not 3, people. The waitress was friendly and effecient and was working her butt off, kudos to her. They seem to have a huge lunch crowd for the $5 specials. I have found my favorite Chinese restaurant with wonderful customer service to go along with!! We walked in and were greeted by Hing very cheerful and polite brought us tea and water for the three of us. We looked at the menus, a lot of yummy choices I was very surprised. So I ordered chicken with tofu it came with green beans but he was so wonderful to let me switch to tofu, and a small hot and sour soup, let me tell you about this Hot AND SOUR SOUP!! It was AMAZING YOU REALLY NEED TO TRY IT IF YOU LOVE HOT AND SOUR SOUP!! My daughter and I LOVED IT!! Any who my husband had the combination #4 fried rice fried shrimp much more stuff, my daughter ordered bbq pork, fried shrimp and sweet and sour chicken. The portions are very generous super generous! Hing made sure our glasses were always full of water and was always checking on us, brought extra napkins.
