Number 2 combo. Fried shrimp, pork chow mein, fried rice and sweet and sour pork.
    Michael M.

Just had a combo dinner at Chan's Chinese restaurant in McMinnville OR. The wonderful server lady was fast, friendly and attentive, but didn't hover. The egg flower soup was delicious and savory. I had the number 2 combo which was fried shrimp, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, and pork chow mein. I added pan fried noodles for a small charge. The food was fresh, hot, and top-notch! Portions were HUGE. All together our meal cost for the two of us was 33 bucks and I feel like we got great value for the money. We will definitely be customers again.

Pork Chow Mein or the chicken subgum

I am not here to trash a business, just letting everyone know what to expect when eating here. I ordered the #2: Fried Shrimp Pork Chow Mein (or Chicken Subgum) Sweet & Sour Pork Pork Fried Rice I read the reviews before and still decided to come, so only I am to blame, but this is not what I expected. I've tried everything many times before, yet this surprised me. The sweet and sour pork was so breaded, yet the bottom half was soggy due to the sauce in the "pork chow mein." Now, the pork chow mein had no noodles, only ground-up bits of pork and bean sprouts. The "pork fried rice" had little to no pork and only tasted like salt. I am new to McMinnville, so I'm not sure of the standard of Chinese food, but compared to other places in the Portland Metro Area, this is not good. The third pic is all that I ate. My girlfriend said the Bean Curd w/Vegetable in Szechuan Sauce was soggy and salty, so I'll leave it up to whoever is reading this to make their decision.

After several days in wine country, we were really craving Asian food. Chan's had the best reviews in the area so we stopped by for a weekday lunch and ordered from the lunch special menu. We got the shredded pork with garlic sauce and Chan's deluxe cooked in black bean sauce. Overall, the dishes were on the sweeter side, minus the deluxe entree. The sweet and sour soup was quite different from others we've had and the pork dish was neither garlicky nor spicy (as it typically is at other places). We didn't expect food to be super authentic here but the sweetness levels were higher than anticipated. The deluxe was pretty decent and our favorite of the bunch. Service was friendly and parking was easy in their lot.

Customer service is on point here! We haven't even ordered yet and we're greater and treated as first class guests! The gentleman that is hosting is warm and friendly and accommodating of our special needs. I will definitely support this business again! Thank you for this wonderful first impression.

Sweet and Sweet & Sour Pork, mother's chicken, egg roll and pork fried rice

I have eaten at chans for many years and always thought it was good. I have not been in a couple of years and wanted Chinese food so we ordered some takeout. I must say without a doubt that it was the worst Chinese takeout I have had in my life. The sweet and sour pork was huge balls of bland, soggy breading with a tiny piece of pork buried in the middle. Mother's chicken (which used to be my one of my favorites) was soggy, flavorless and again more breading than meat. The egg roll was very soggy and had no taste and finally the pork fried rice tasted like it was burnt and scraped from the bottom of the wok. Very disappointed and will not return.

The food was great, very pleased. Great selection, good portions and great flavors. We got takeout and the food still tasted fresh.

Just don't bother. Unless you prefer your Asian cuisine to be the equivalent of spoiled lunch meat with ketchup to hide the flavor.

The bar has had a small renovation the flooring has been redone and additional seating has been added. The service is always great and the food is scratch made. When you order sweet and sour chicken you actually get pretty good sized pieces of chicken not just breading. Their pot stickers are large and made in house not frozen! We have tried almost everything on the menu and every dish has been excellent. Our favorite go to is an order of pot stickers. Then we pick 3 from their All Time Favorite Combo $13.95 crab puffs, BBQ pork, and sweet and sour chicken. Seriously the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time. I like that they do not use artificial coloring or MSG. The owners are very nice and great people which is refreshing. They also own Kin's Bar and Grill in Lafayette, Or. I was told we could get the same amazing pot stickers there as well. FYI they do have a lot of pool tournaments at any given time. We still got great service and food even with so much going on.

The veggies were plentiful, perhaps a bit over cooked to softness. The fried rice was a little disappointing. Seemed mostly rice and soy sauce. A few specks of mystery meat in the mix but the texture was good. My biggest end disappointment was the food came without any plastic silverware or napkins. I'm in a motel with no eating utensils. Am I supposed to use my hands? Luckily, after I made my way to the front desk the clerk found me a plastic fork. Kinda a pain to have to put on shoes and stuff to stroll down there but I was hungry. So in the end, the food was ok to mediocre, filled me up. The lack of utensils and napkins could have been a disaster waiting to happen.

The one thing that really let me down were the shrimp used for the shrimp dishes. I cant say 100%, but they tasted to me like cocktail shrimp that were just placed cold on top of the other items. They definitely weren't hot and just had that "taste" that grocery store cocktail shrimp have. The chicken in the sweet & sour chicken was very good. I'd probably give Jin's a 3.5 stars if I could. Some items were good, some were just okay, nothing was bad. Service was friendly and the place is cute and spacious.
