We order this at work- and it's good! Sometimes I feel the spice level is off but otherwise delicious!

This place was surpsingly good! I was hiking the OCT when I decided to come by this restaurant for some Pad Thai. I grew up eating Pad Thai and found any sort of Asian food hard to find when I'm doing a long, multi hundred mile thru hike. Let alone good Thai food. So I walked in with my hefty backpacking pack and they stayed me right away. Really nice people and they smiled warmly(a nice change when everyone looks at you disgustingly for carrying a backpacking around on a long hike)! I ordered: [ Chicken Pad thai ] 5/5 Best Pad Thai I've ever had and that's saying a lot for the hundreds of Pad Thai I've had. The noodles were perfectly cooked, Al dente, with a little chew and bounce. Flavor was perfect and the veggies and meat tasted fresh. [Thai Tea] 4/5 Lots of ice, so there wasn't a whole lot of Thai tea, but nonetheless refreshing and delicious. I definately needed a nice cold drink after hiking around. Overall, I think about this restaurant often. Craving the food and probably one of the warmest and nicest people on my thru hiking journey. The only pity is, I don't actually live in Oregon, I was just there for a nice long hike through the beaches and woods. If I passed by, I would definately stop for some food here! read more

Best Thai in newport. There I said it!! The flavors are truly spot on. Warm and welcoming restaurant with amazing service. I usually get to go and my huge order is ready in 20 min. Horrible attitude of the staff. We called before coming and they asked us to come before 7:45 . We reached at 7:35. And their closing time was supposed to be 8:30. They came to our table and asked us to pack up everything at 8:15. Sending bad take out order late at night is never good for business. Was really disappointed with the terrible quality of food. We have gone half hour after they opened and we're welcomed with friendly service as we dinned in. Our server was very polite and kind. We went 30min out of our way to pickup takeaway from this Thai restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. There is something for everyone on the online menu, with plenty of pictures with helpful descriptions. I am a sucker for Red Curry, but it can be hit or miss. I decided to shoot my shot, not knowing if this establishment was authentic or if it would live up to my expectations. I have to say, the portions and amount of components/ingredients within their red curry is astounding, and the flavor is out of this world. I am also a bit of a Thai coffee snob, and theirs definitely hit the mark. The ordering experience was painless. The menu was helpful, the person taking the order was clear and repeated the order back to me. While I didn't eat in the restaurant, I took a look around while picking up my meal, and it has a lovely ambiance. I was impressed that while we had a large order, it was ready in 15min or less. If you're ever in the Newport/Toledo area, I would definitely consider stopping in, or calling ahead. I had a wonderful experience, and I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I ordered the Massaman chicken and thought it was delicious.... There wasn't any spice to it like I have had at other places but I didn't mind it missing, the mango chicken had good flavor I forgot what the other dish was, it had peanut sauce over it and I didn't try it. We got there about an hour before the closed before dinner starts. So it was nice with not too many people there. I took pictures of the inside but can only post 10 pictures. It was nice inside with elephants, there were some cute ones. Staff were nice and friendly... they didn't come back to check on us, and it was a bit awkward being that they were all sitting at a table when ya walked in, and all in their cell phones. read more

Delicious Thai Dinner @ Lucky Thai Elephant in Newport, OR. We were greeted promptly and invited to sit at a booth. Aesthetically speaking, the restaurant could use an update for sure. Menus were new and they had all the usual options. Surprisingly, I did not take pictures, but I can assure you that everything we ordered was absolutely delicious!! We ordered the coconut shrimp for an appetizer, Tom Kha soup with chicken, Tasty Mango stir-fried dish with scallops and shrimp at #2 heat, and Pad See Ew with chicken at a #4 heat. Absolutely Delicious! We had an incredible experience at Lucky Thai Elephant! The food was amazing--truly some of the best Thai I've ever had. I usually don't prefer Tom Kha, but theirs completely changed my mind--so flavorful, and they were super generous with the tofu. We also tried the lettuce rolls (that peanut sauce was fire) and the fried tofu with plum sauce--it was so good I honestly wanted to lick the dish! The staff were friendly, the space was clean, and the décor is beautiful. This place has such a welcoming, peaceful vibe. I would gladly drive two hours just to eat here again. really wanted to like this place, but! Ordered pad thai and pad se ew to go. Pad se ew barely covered bottom of box, completely flavorless with handful of broccoli thrown on top raw! The pad thai was awful as well. No flavor, just weird sourness with lime in corner. To-go box full tho with thin curly noodle. Two inch white parts of green onion totally unedible. Top of noodle was covered in ground up peanuts i think, but was flavorless too. Chicken in both dishes sliced super thin, overcooked and dry like cardboard. Maybe the cook treats orders better if you eat there. To-go was horrid and threw it away. read more

Good food, quick service and quiet ambience. We visited them during lunch while we were in the area for the aquarium. It was a quick stop for us with our 2 year old. The rice cakes were from the day special menu, and I am glad we ordered it. They were healthy snacks filled with spinach for a toddler. We liked them too. We requested for basil fried rice to be mild with no chilli at all and they mentioned they wouldn't add any and bring it on the side if we want some, but may be chef missed that out. They were good but spicy for the baby. The yellow curry was good too. They mentioned that that is the only vegan option among curry, so worked out fine. I tried to get a replacement because the food was undercooked and I was told that I had teeth and I could chew it. It was very humiliating. The food tasted really planned had no Thai spices or flavor. I was told I had to pay for it anyway I did not eat it I sent it back because it was not edible. Having some warm Thai food after a long day of adventure activities felt like a bliss! They are open until 8:45 pm which is pretty awesome in a small town like Newport The food is delicious. They have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options and the staff were very friendly. We reached there around 8:30, but they managed to serve us almost all the dishes that we asked for except for the fresh salad rolls. They ran out for the day. The portion is perfect for a person and the presentation is pretty good. The food is affordable and the ambience is very comforting. The best go to food with real Thai spices and delicious with full flavors. Moved here from California, I found it's been hard finding foods full of flavor and authentic style of cooking since living in Oregon. We finally were able to dine at this awesome establishment when they returned from their Christmas vacation. Best service and food that you can tell is authentic and made with the best ingredients. Wife found this place on Yelp. We were both starving and Thai sounded great. Restaurant was not overly impressive looking as we arrived, but that didn't reflect how good the food was. We were seated immediately in a booth and did not wait long to order. I ordered my staple meal when having Thai, Panang curry with shrimp. It was very good. I wasn't asked how spicy I wanted it. It was mildly spicy and maybe would have wanted a little more heat. Regardless, very much enjoyed the meal. Pretty good Thai food, and chances are you'll be able to walk right in and get a table (which is saying something in Newport!). The pad woon sen was solid - not spectacular, but I ate the whole thing and was satisfied. One of my table mates devoured the general noodle soup. Another had the appetizer sampler platter and was pleased with it. Be sure to get the mango and sticky rice for dessert. While Lucky Thai won't rival your favorite Thai places in Seattle, Portland, or LA, it gets the job done plenty well enough, is reasonably priced, serves good portions, is easy to get into, and offers a very broad menu. read more

Ordered takeout on an early Saturday eve while in town. Phone service nice and it was ready in 15 min. We blew past the location the first time, even though it's a bright yellow building with "Thai Food" really big on the side, but the opening in the curb for the turn-in was hard to spot. We ordered the pineapple curry and the eggplant basil stirfry. The curry was really flavorful and medium spice level (we weren't asked nor indicated a desired spice level when ordering), but the eggplant dish was underwhelming. Lacking in amount of the namesake eggplant and basil, it was more of a bland bell pepper and onion stirfry. It's usually one of my go-to favorite dishes at Thai restaurants but this one was disappointing. read more

Our family ordered take out on a weeknight and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was! The pumpkin curry was so good, but a bit spicier than expected (not unpleasantly so). I also had a noodle dish that was supposed to be stir fried rice noodles and veggies with peanut sauce. The whole thing felt like a steamed mess, but the peanut sauce was really good, so I got over it. Overall, this was a pretty good Thai food experience. COVID safety wise, they did a good job of having space between where you pick up the food and the person handing it to you. They also allow payment to be made over the phone, but if you pay at the restaurant, they have a bind of clean pens and a bin to place the used pen. Hand sanitizer was also available.
