So I always avoided cheesesteaks until I became a major foodie and wanted to retry foods, trying to force myself to maybe like it! I was a little traumatized. Oh how I've been missing out on the cheesesteaks thoughhhh. It's okay. We met again and I love it! This place, so good. I know it's a chain. I haven't been to the original place but this location is the closest for me though it's still a little out of my way, it's okay! Can't complain. I got takeout here and it was fairly fast. Service was awesome. The cashier and the cook was super cool. There's still so much I have to try! I WANT EVERYTHING. Also, extra hot pepper is a must! Or ask for some of the side and smear it inside of your sandwich since they mainly just put it on the outside. I love peppers. I need to dine in and eat it fresh one day. I mentioned to the cashier that I've never been here and didn't know what I wanted. A little suggestive selling would've been nice so that I could know what you were famous for. I am a huge Leftys fan. I have been to coming to them for at least 3 years now and it's really cool to see how much they've grown. It is definitely my go to cheesesteak spot in Michigan. I don't usually eat many sandwiches, but I find myself craving leftys all of the time. The cheesesteak is my favorite thing on the menu... actually the Southpaw Cheesesteak. It has white cheese, steak, cheese whiz and crushed hot Cheetos. This sandwich is addicting!!! Next on the menu I love the corned beef eggs rolls. They're the type of special restaurant snack you can't really find anywhere. Loaded fries, loaded tots and corned beef sandwiches are all so tasty as well. What impresses me most about the different locations is the consistency in the food. Which ever Leftys location you go to, you're sure to have the same quality and care going into your meal. He was talking crap about another business in the area for having fliers by his restaurant, talking about how much of a joke the other place was. I'd leave a zero star review, if I could. Twice my wife and I attempted to place an order via Doordash, and on both occasions, our orders were cancelled, after they had been confirmed by Lefty's. The first time it happened, the excuse from Lefty's was that they were closed, which was a lie. When I tried calling to ask what happened with our order, they would not answer the phone. So we decided to press our luck this evening, and try again. They confirmed and accepted our order, said they were preparing our food, and a "Dasher" was at the location to pick up our food. About 5 minutes later, Lefty's cancelled our order again, without any specific reason. I even made sure to call Lefty's before placing our order, to make sure they were accepting Doordash orders. The person I spoke with confirmed they are taking Doordash orders. After explaining to him our experience with our last Doordash order, the Lefty's employee stated "I got you, bro." After our order was cancelled again, for no specific reason, I called back Lefty's to see what had happened with our order, and was told that the "tablet" they use to process Doordash orders, had been dropped and broken by another employee. When I inquired about when this happened, as I had called an hour earlier and was told they were accepting Doordash orders, and was told they were, then the Doordash app showing that our order was being prepared and a "Dasher" was there to pick up our order, I was told "I ain't gonna argue about it witchu, bro.", and then promptly hung up on. If this is the caliber of employees working at this location, I don't trust what else could be going on at this restaurant. I mean, an employee who basically doesn't care about his job or losing customers, almost certainly doesn't care about the quality of the food, Department of Health standards, etc. I'll never spend a penny at this restaurant. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before but the experience I just had at Lefty's Cheesesteak at 8 mile and Woodward has compelled me to do so. Upon walking in, there were 8-10 disgruntled customers patiently waiting for their orders. That should have been enough of a sign to turn around and walk out but my girlfriend and I were pretty hungry so we chose to stay anyways. The owner was behind the counter screaming out orders and berating his employees for being slow without giving any real direction. The cashier was trying to take our order but the owner kept interrupting her to yell out customers names that were obviously wrong. A sweet, older lady came to the counter and asked if he was calling her name but he kept shouting over her and told her he wasn't talking to her. It turns out it was her order and when the owner realized he made it incorrectly, he blamed it on the cashier and threw the ticket at her face right in front of us. At this point, we just wanted to get our food and leave so we placed our order to-go and sat at a booth. The owner continued to scream at his employees and yelled at another customer when he gave her a salad dressing that she did not ask for before looking at me like "Can you believe this lady?". He even made fun of my name that he read off an order ticket like I wasn't standing 5 feet behind him. When he finished up, the owner walked around the counter while texting, completely oblivious to anyone around him. I had to take a step back so he didn't run into me. As if everything leading up to this wasn't enough, the owner sat down at a booth to call his bookie and put money on the NFL playoff games being played later. He was discussing the spreads so loud that my girlfriend looked at me with her mouth open in disbelief. "I'll take the Chargers ALL DAY!!" By the time we left, we couldn't help but laugh about how bad the experience was. The first thing I did was check the Yelp and Google reviews and sure enough, the lowest reviews were customers complaining about the owners behavior.
