Our beloved Golden Retriever, Fenway, developed urethral spasms in the Summer of 2017. He couldn't…read morepee. We literally spent months trying to find an effective treatment, even taking him to the Veterinary Specialists at Texas A&M. Western medicine gave us 3 options: surgically install a stent (which would give him no control over his bladder), surgically install a customized catheter (which are fragile and tend to break), or treat him with Prazosin, a blood pressure medication in increasingly larger doses. He was up to 15 tablets of Prazosin a day and we were catheterizing him nightly. A friend suggested we try Chinese medicine and our vet gave us a referral to Dr Grand. She prescribed some herbs and gave us a recipe for a stew consisting of chicken livers, chicken, squash, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, garlic, vinegar and cayenne. Within a week, Fenway was peeing normally again. We are weaning him off the Prozasin, down to 2 pills a day from 15. We are amazed. I really have to give Dr Grand credit for working with us to find the right treatment for Fenway. She combined both Western and Eastern methods, explained how the different and medications worked together and consulted with other colleagues. I recommend her enthusiastically and without hesitation. ps. I've noticed some people have complained about the cost of service. I found her service costs to be lower than our previous vet, and of all the places we took Fenway, Animal Care Clinic was our lowest cost (granted, by the time we got to Dr Grand, Fenway had had a lot of testing done that did not have to be repeated).

We took him to 2 vets and a neurologist to try to find out what was going on. The vets kept putting him on pain meds and not giving us any answers. He was not getting better. He could not get up from a sitting position and in a lot of pain. I knew something was wrong and meds were not going to help. We moved to Texas with this issue and by the grace of God came across Dr Grands page. She is amazing and completely knowledgeable and passionate about helping animals. I knew I was at the right place with Lincoln from the moment she put her hands on him. Within seconds she knew exactly where his pain and inflammation was coming from. First words out of her mouth were "I am invested and we are going to find out what is going on with this little guy"! She did a combo of Eastern and Western medicine. She explained everything and put a plan into place. The next morning I saw my Lincoln come alive again. He was able to move and do things he could not do in 6 months. She gave him the help that 3 other doctors could not. I am so grateful to her and the entire staff. They are all lovely and so professional. I truly believe that Dr. Dunn's willingness to trial medications and allowing us to make the decisions with her guidance not only gave us additional time with Jadie that we wouldn't have had otherwise, but also helped us emotionally through watching our dog decline. Dr. Buffington and his team took care of us when the time came, and it was truly the best experience a person could have had when going through the pain of letting your best friend go. He even sent a follow up email the following morning reassuring us that we'd made the right choice, and we received a card signed by the entire clinic. Today we bring our new puppy to the clinic that we trusted with my best friend's life.

Additionally, we requested our digs medical records and they will not provide them. On the morning of our appointment, we dropped our dog off at 8:00 a.m. for grooming. We were not informed at that time that grooming would not begin until approximately 2:00 p.m., nor that he would remain crated the entire day. We picked him up at 4:00 p.m. Our dog is a recently adopted rescue who suffers from severe anxiety and abandonment issues. We have only had him for approximately three weeks. The veterinary team at McKinney Animal Hospital is fully aware of his background and emotional condition, as we brought him in for a veterinary visit immediately after adopting him. Given this knowledge, it is extremely concerning that he was left in a crate all day without food and separated from his family for an extended and unnecessary period of time. Had we been informed at drop-off that he would not be groomed until 2:00 p.m., we would never have left him there for that length of time. In addition to the prolonged crating and lack of feeding, our dog was completely shaved. While he did have some matting, I had already removed several mats myself, and there was no justification provided for shaving him to the extent that they did. When we arrived to pick him up, we were genuinely unsure whether the dog presented to us was ours. His appearance had been altered so drastically that he looked like a completely different dog. He was also acting extremely timid and withdrawn, as though he did not recognize us. The entire experience was heartbreaking. When we expressed our disappointment and concerns, the manager on duty, Pamela, brought the groomer into the discussion. While we were calmly explaining that our dog has anxiety and abandonment issues and that he should not have been left crated all day, the groomer responded by stating that it was "probably because of us" that the dog has anxiety and abandonment issues. This statement was inappropriate, unprofessional, and deeply disrespectful. Although the manager immediately told the groomer she could not say that, the damage had already been done and the situation unnecessarily escalated. Throughout the conversation, there was no meaningful ownership of the situation. Instead, we were told that we had authorized a complete shave, which we absolutely did not. If we had been told that shaving him entirely was the only option, we would have declined the service and groomed him at home. Additionally, we were required to purchase flu shots and a fecal test before grooming could be performed, totaling approximately $120. The overall bill was approximately $250. When we requested a refund for the grooming service due to our dissatisfaction, we were offered only 10% off and a $60 credit. A credit is not acceptable, as we will not be returning. Given the circumstances, this resolution is inadequate. The lack of communication, disregard for our dog's known anxiety issues, prolonged crating without food, drastic grooming without proper consent, and the unprofessional and disrespectful behavior of the groomer reflect a serious failure in customer service and animal care standards. Due to this experience, we will not be returning to McKinney Animal Hospital. I urge other pet owners to carefully consider their options before entrusting their pets to this facility for grooming services. The manager Pamela and the owner Janel took no ownership or accountability for how our dog was handled nor their disrespect or unprofessionalism of their dog groomer. They simply did not care.

EVERY single interaction is them pushing unnecessary services that are obscenely over priced. Even the vets will quietly tell you about more reasonably priced services, to seek out. The front desk was actually very pleasant and caring. The vet techs are also very caring along with the student shadows. So far, I'm happy with the level of care for my babies and the cost seems on par with what we've paid elsewhere.

Five years ago we moved to Celina and took our two 10-year-old dogs here. We live 25 minutes out in…read morethe country on back roads, and our dogs had bad hip issues and traveled poorly. The original vet was awesome, but he left. When one developed incontinence, we made an appointment. We were told to bring fecal and urine samples--resulting in two 60-ish people chasing a dog around with a pie pan. They took blood and promised results in 24 hours, but we had to wait 3 extra days while our dog messed up the house. The receptionist blocked us from getting updates because the vet was out until Monday, and no other vet is allowed to step in.The prescribed medicine made our dog stop eating, caused severe diarrhea, and triggered a full-on seizure. When we called, the receptionist gatekept again, demanding a new appointment and more samples. I stopped the medicine, and she immediately improved. At the clinic, the vet ignored everything but the seizure and wanted to run a battery of tests. When I said it was the medicine, she treated me like an idiot and claimed the drug didn't cause seizures. I looked it up online myself; seizures, collapse, and inability to walk are explicitly listed manufacturer side effects. The vet then brought up liver/kidney damage with other drugs and asked if we considered "Quality of Life." My wife was furious. To top it off, they never even asked for the fecal and urine samples they demanded. We just kept our dog outside. Later, our other dog (now both 14) had trouble walking. We called, went through the same rigid appointment/sample routine, and were given a list of drugs that could damage organs. We agreed to try Galliprant. The clinic charged us 43% more than Chewy's prices. When we asked the receptionist for a written prescription to fill online, we were blocked again and told the vet was unavailable and that they needed updated lab work. We dealt with this for six more months as their health declined. When we exhausted all options, we made the heartbreaking decision to put them down. The person my wife spoke with on the phone promised a gentle experience: they would sedate the dogs, let us say goodbye, and we could leave while they handled the rest and brought them to our truck. We made the appointment, had a party, and everyone said their goodbyes. The actual visit was a nightmare. The tech and the vet aggressively demanded a full history and wanted to know "what changed," forcing my wife to painfully rehash everything. I guess it was not our place to decide. After an argument, they finally agreed to proceed. Instead of the peaceful transition promised, they gave the first dog three shots on the floor, confirmed her heart stopped, slid her body out of the way, and did the second dog right in front of us. Then they just left us in the room with our two dogs' bodies. When they returned with bags, I told them we were leaving and would meet them at the truck.This was the most miserable, heartless experience ever. We are so glad we never have to go back.

However, I was contacted by Custer McDermott Animal Hospital to inform me that they would no longer approve Chewy prescriptions, and I would have to drive an hour and a half to pick up a paper prescription and mail that into Chewy if I wanted to use Chewy. The vet clinic charges a lot more than Chewy so no I won't be giving Chewy up, I won't be driving an hour and a half for a slip of paper as the clinic email stated. The clinic has no power over where and how I spend my money. I will be giving up Custer McDermott Animal Hospital and sadly Dr. Pilkington. To be clear, David Pilkington is the one and only reason we have been loyal to this clinic for all these years. If not for David, we would have changed clinics years ago. Now, they have given us reason to change simply out of greed. Vet care is as expensive , meds are expensive. When the clinic makes a petty policy that costs you more money, you shop around.

He got a little dehydrated at the dog park, as he threw up once after playing for hours . I took him to the emergency clinic where he was given fluids . Nothing too serious. The emergency clinic sent their note to Custer, I got a follow up call the next day from them . Glad I am taking my dog here as the last vet had no follow up and did next to no physical examination on my dogs .

I can honestly say she's the best trained dog we have ever had. She's got wonderful manors minds us and is fantastic with our son. Berkley our older Pitt/Boxer mix wasn't so great with our son when we brought him home but the butlers fixed that too. She and MJA are inseparable. She's so gently and kind with him We can't thank you enough Butler family. Highly recommend.

I sent my 8 month old shih tzu to their training camp in August. About a month before I sent him, I went to their house to get a feel for the environment that my puppy would be in and felt very confident in their abilities to work with him. My biggest concern with my puppy was making sure he was house broken because we were about to move into a new home. Christine assured me this wouldn't be an issue and even offered to keep my puppy a little longer if needed while we would be getting settled into the home. I LOVE THAT THEY TRAIN FROM A HOME...how else do you HOUSE train a dog when it's not in a HOUSE? It was a perfect idea. When I dropped off my puppy the first day, I got to meet Hilton as well who make me feel very confident about his training. I also was able to meet their daughter who came down and started playing with my puppy...this made me feel a lot better that he would be very loved while there! I did not receive any formal report cards or pictures..but only because their computer had broke and was given to an IT guy to have fixed (there is technology for you! LOL) Although I didn't receive any of the pictures, Christine was always available to talk to me about his progress. Despite what others say, she always, ALWAYS answered any and every phone call I had. After he got home, he knew some commands and was almost 100% house broken (sure he has had a few slip ups but what dog hasn't?). My puppy ended up having diarrhea when he returned home (I think it was because of the stress/excitement of coming home). Christine and Hilton contacted me multiple times to see how he was feeling and make sure he was okay. Now it has been a month since he has been home and I couldn't be happier with my puppy and his behavior... Thank you K9 Bootcamp/Basic!!!!
