Located in downtown Hilliard, you will have to find street parking or a lot. Luckily, parking is free. The restaurant is very spacious and there is an outdoor patio for warmer weather. They have an upstairs and downstairs bar also. You order your food and sit wherever. The food was pretty good. I liked being able to get a little bit of everything. The crunch on the sausage is ridiculous. BBQ meat was pretty tender and they have a variety of sauces available to you on the tables. Would come back! read more

We've been here a couple of times & both times the food & service were wonderful. The brisket sandwich & beef ribs (Saturday special) are seasoned well & tender. The brisket sandwich is simple but tasty. I love the selection of sauces as well. The two sides we tried were the smoked Mac & cheese & tex mex corn - enjoyed both. My favorite is their bread pudding. We get it without bacon but normally it has that. They also have delicious banana pudding. There is plenty of seating inside and outside on rooftop or patio. It's in downtown Hilliard so it's a nice area to be able to walk around & explore after as well. The price for just the beef brisket is $30.00 a pound however my husband & I shared this, a beef brisket sandwich, two sides & a dessert. We were full after for sure. The Columbus area definitely needs more places like Legacy Smokehouse. We've passed this place likely hundreds of times, but never stopped in to dine until recently. And I am so glad we did! The service was great, but the food was even better. Being first time patrons, the sampler was recommended for us to try. It consisted of pulled pork, smoked sausage, brisket, and the self proclaimed 'best smoked turkey' in Columbus. I can neither confirm nor deny that claim, even though it was really good. My only negatives are not even really negatives, but they were out of ribs, both the beef and pork. That's really why we decided to visit in the first place, so that was a bummer. Second, after ordering, the food came out very fast, almost too fast because the food wasn't as hot as it could've been, which I feel effected the flavor some. But again, minor issues. Overall, Legacy Smokehouse is an excellent choice for BBQ. We will definitely be visiting again, and I recommend you give them a try as well. read more

They have pretty good BBQ! At first I wasn't sure what sauce is good for me and later after forced myself to try all the sauce (usually I will never try anything lol) I found out that I like OG&mustard mix together! The meat and the sauce together were very yummy! I always eat bbq with fork and knife and the meat was very soft and fell easily. I wish my meat was warmer and juicer. First time here. We are big City BBQ fans so that's kind of always our bar we have set for other BBQ places. With that said. This is pretty good. I would say it's slightly below City BBQ in the end. I got the haystack. Mac n cheese with brisket and Fritos. Yum. It was really good. The brisket is pretty standard. The turkey was decent. The baked beans were really good. The slaw was tasty. Got a lot of cilantro in it. The street corn was ok. We tried both desserts. Had to. Haha. The banana pudding was very good. But the bread pudding was outstanding. Awesome combo of sweet and savory. The sauces. We tried all 5 kinds. The original was thicker and really good. The sweet actually tasted like it was sweetened with apple butter. The spicy was thick and good. Has a kick. The mustard was chunky and good. Very peppery. The vinegar was tart and very good. Like a salad dressing. My biggest hang up was the sweet tea. This is the first BBQ joint I've been to that didn't have fresh brewed sweet tea. Theirs came from a fountain. It was ok. But I would definitely rather have fresh brewed tea. It was busy! Line out the door the whole time we were there. They had an hour and a half to go before close and they were out of ribs, turkey and almost out of pork. So comparing to City BBQ, the brisket and the turkey is better at City BBQ. So is the tea. I feel like the desserts are better at Legacy. Overall I would go back to Legacy again for sure. read more

This has been on my radar since it opened, but I don't get over this way much. I had an errand to run and made sure to swing by. I've been to the Greenlawn location and loved it, so I was looking forward to this. It is in a cool old house, a very different atmosphere than the other one. Friendly, fast service, fairly small menu of very good food. I got the Texas Trio sandwich- brisket, pork, and sausage. Your choice of mild or spicy sausage. I got the spicy, and it was not super hot, just enough to add a bit of zip. I wondered how it would work on a sandwich; it is thin oval slices, so it stayed on fine (though the sandwich is a bit messy in general.) I pulled some meat off to taste each on its own, and with sauces. The brisket was tender and flavorful, as was the pulled pork, and each stands on its own, no sauce needed. The sausage was very good too. As a sandwich, it was all great stuff, on a good bun. They have dispensers for their sauces, and there is a nice variety of flavors. The sandwich comes with slaw and pickled onions on top, but I had them on the side so I could check out the meats. They also stood on their own and I enjoyed them, and would add a bit of texture to the sandwich but are not needed. I got a side of baked beans. The sample size, which I thought was just fine for $2, not tiny as some complain. They were very very good. Fountain drinks include almost-sweet-enough sweet tea, and Big Red, among the standards. Seating is comfortable. Prices are a bit high for the quantity, but justified by the excellent quality. First time here and I loved it! Everyone was so kind and the meat was great! I had the Holy Trinity sandwich, the smoked Mac and cheese and the street corn with an Old Fashioned to wash it down. The sandwich was huge and very delicious, the buns tasted homemade and were just as good as the meat on them! the different homemade sauces were all good and very different. Brisket was pretty good, not the best I've ever had but not bad by any means. Sauce was kind of weird. I grabbed the sweet thinking it would be Memphis style, definitely not a Memphis style sauce. Great little BBQ joint in a old Victorian. Came in for a quick lunch and opted for the brisket sandwich on a roll. It came with a side of slaw and some pickles which were both great. The sandwich itself was pilled pretty high and filled with tender brisket that was flavorful and very delicious. I tried a few o the housemade sauces and really liked the spicy BBQ sauce the best, it added a bit of heat to the sandwich and rounded it out for me. This place is serving some legit BBQ right now and hopefully it lasts. There are some issues, but I'm willing to look past most of the problems to just enjoy having a good local place in Hilliard for my slow smoking fix. The food is pretty on point. I've had brisket (they ask lean or moist and I always go moist), ribs, pulled pork, beans, and mac 'n cheese. I have a slight preference for the pork over the brisket here, but the brisket is not bad. Both the sides are very competent. The mac 'n cheese is wet. Though it is homemade, it reminds me more of Kraft then some other places, such as Hoggys, where it is more of a casserole (but not in a bad way). The beans are extremely smoky, with not much sweetness, but I like the texture. They will provide pickles, cukes, and onions on request. Unlike the extremely craveable pickles at City BBQ, these are kind of throwaway addons for me. They have four sauce options - sweet, spicy, vinegar, and mustard. I prefer the spicy, but sauce is a weak spot for them. Unlike, City Barbecue original, which I often keep in my pantry at home, I'm not looking for more of this sauce than what I add to my meal at the restaurant. This is a casual joint, but it is clean and new and has a kind of upscale feel to it right now. The building is a converted house, so the angles are strange and it lacks openness, but they've done a real nice job sprucing the place up and I kind of like the homey vibe. It is very reminiscent of Smoked on High (if you haven't been, you should). Notably, they have a nice handicap/wheelchair friendly ramp leading up to the back door and a patio that seems like a great place for a summer meal. Someone here commented that the prices are high and they aren't wrong. A brisket sandwich at the original Arlington City BBQ is $8.50 and here it is $10. A side of beans at City is $2.29 for a good sized portion and here you'll pay $3 for a comically small container (or upsize to "regular" ($5) and get a pretty normal amount). That said, I think the quality of City BBQ suffers a bit due to the volume they have to pump out and the quality at Legacy, right now, is a cut above. Legacy is also conveniently located in the center of downtown Hilliard, in walking distance from Hilliard Station park, which is a big plus for me. I'll pay a little extra for the convenience and simply to have another flavor option in town. All in all, I'm enjoying Legacy. It isn't my favorite BBQ ever (Kansas City Joe's) or even my favorite in town (Ray Ray's Hog Pit or Smoked on High), but for a local option I'm happy to have them. read more

So tried a new place today for lunch, very clean and staff was great. I had the Brisket which was smoked perfectly. As sides I tried Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The sides were just ok, didn't care much for Mac and cheese. The Baked bean are ok, needed seasoned. Now the sauces they offer all all very flavorful, favorite was the Original sauce! Recently hosted a wedding shower here and cannot recommend them enough!! Our guests raved about the food; brisket melted in your mouth, Mac and cheese was 10/10 and a favorite of even picky toddlers, many went back for 2nds and 3rds, and a few extra peach bourbon slushies were taken to go because they were delicious!
