The dining room was quite large with a bar in the center of the room. We had a party of four for lunch -our two grandkids, my wife and myself. Shortly after we were seated, we had the pleasure of meeting Madison -our fantastic server. She was as pleasant and attentive as anyone, but what made her stand out was the way she interacted with our young lunch guests. She was really amazing. Our grandkids were busy working on their paper placemat crossword puzzles when Madison brought over four complimentary rolls and butter. They disappeared pretty fast. The Children's Menu was a good deal, with a choice of an appetizer (fruit cup, popcorn, or carrot sticks), a main (burger, chicken sandwich, grilled cheese, or a pasta), a grilled entrée (salmon, beef, chicken), a fried entrée (fish sticks, chicken fingers, popcorn shrimp) and a choice of two sides (veggies, fruit, fries, rice, slaw, or applesauce). Those Kiddie Meals rock with a ton of food and choices for $9-$12. Our youngsters went with the popcorn shrimp and a Mac and Cheese, and both were gobbled up. What's hysterical is that popcorn is offered as an appetizer. And the popcorn shrimp is served in a popcorn container with (what else?) Popcorn! My wife and I went to the Lunch Special Menu and found some great values. For $16-$25, you can get a petit sandwich, cup of clam chowder or lobster bisque, fries, and coleslaw. Our lunches were excellent. We ordered a Petit Lobster roll with clam chowder ($25) and a Petit Shrimp Salad Roll with Lobster Bisque ($18). Both of the soups were served piping hot and loaded with seafood. The sandwiches were served on a warm griddled brioche roll and also had a very generous serving of shrimp and lobster. I am amazed by their freshness of their seafood and side dishes. Very surprised that they only have below 4 on rating. The oysters we have was one of the freshest that I ever had on East coast. The lobster roll was so good and lobster were in large chunks. Side dishes were really good too, roasted mushrooms were not oily like many other restaurants, quinoa was pretty flavorful with nuts and vegetables. The service in this location was very good, our servers were very attentive. The parking was very crowded even at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. Probably one of the worst, if not THE worst experience dining I've ever had. Let's start from the beginning - from the time we (the person I was with) and I were sat, it took 11 minutes to even be greeted. And to even get water, almost 15 from the moment we sat down. The waitress "greeted" us by walking by, and saying "I'll be with you in a minute". Literally just walked by us - no real acknowledgment. When she came over, did not even tell us her name. She asked us if we wanted to get anything to drink. We said "not right now we are still looking" and she then walked away. She came back, and we brushed it off. The person I was with asked about the N/A rose. All the server said was "it's bubbly". We asked is it sweet and she said "yes". The drink we did order, took maybe 10 minutes to come out (it was not busy at all, we were one of maybe 12 tables in the entire restaurant at this moment). The manager overheard us (the person I was with) talking and came over and asked what's wrong. We told her what had happened and felt rushed and couldn't even finish a sentence before the server walked away. That manager apologized, did not come back to check up on us. So when we did order, we got oysters and a clam chowder. The oysters were good, the clam chowder was cold. The best part of the ENTIRE meal was the young man who brought out the oysters - first person there who spent more than 15 seconds at the table telling us which oysters were which. Last two things - one the bread. Not that it was not good, but after I was finishing it, a different young man came with more and literally, and I mean literally tilted the next two pieces onto the plate and walked away - without asking also if we wanted more. And last, when the bill came, the server, she stood over our shoulder while we paid and felt like we were being watched. Service: 0/10. I've served and understand people have bad days but this was just awful. Especially 15 minutes pretty much to even get water Food: 8/10. Clam chowder is a favorite - just wish it was warmer. We came here at 3 PM on a Sunday. I had to emphasize 3 PM so that you all know it was not a crowded time of the day. However, it took an hour from when we seated to when the food came out. We ordered broccoli together with the kids menu for my friend's son. They brought the food out without the broccoli and when being asked, they said they were working on the broccoli. 30 minutes later we still did not have the broccoli and we lost trust on the waitress. We then asked the host and they found that pour thing of broccoli was sitting there waiting to be brought out a long time ago. Because of the open kitchen concept, I saw they were then trying to reheat it, because that pour thing was then already too cold to be served. And guess what? While waiting for my Apple Genuis appointment, I went in here for a quick bite. The last time I was in a Legal seafood was years ago. I used to like them, but then they started to decline in quality of food (at least in RI). But this was in MA and I was hungry. The bar had a few people at it, and it was nice and cool after being outside. I sat at the bar and ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder. $8.50 for a cup was high, but it was really pretty good. There were LOTS of chopped clams, and the potatoes were cooked through (a big pet peeve of mine.) The flavor was treally good . The only negative was there was some clam grit in it :( The bartender couldn't have been more pleasant, and quickly took my order. He was back in 10 minutes with my cup of chowder and a plate with 2 warm rolls and butter. How nice! I was happy I went. The prices are very high here - as they are in every Legal C food location. The fish and chips looked way overcooked. Greggs looks way tastier! But for $28.00, I would have sent it back. The 1/2 lb lobster roll was in a hot dog bun and came with coleslaw and french fries. But for $42.00 ....... it was not impressive. If I wanted to be impressed with lobster salad, I would to to Twin Oaks in RI. 2 stuffies were $16.00. Whoa! So, I enjoyed the chowder, but living in New England and being so close to the water, there are many other restaurants that have better food at better prices. read more

It's a typical Legal Seafood in terms of decor and vibe~ I would say this one is a little more casual though than the regular locations. It's great that parking is convenient with a big parking lot, however Legacy Place can get packed so it took us a little bit to find a spot. Once we did, we got in and were seated right away. Food was pretty standard~ the fish and chips were nice and crispy on the outside, warm and flakey on the inside. The fries were just okay~ all the ones underneath the fish were too soggy to eat. My fiancé had the swordfish steak which was really tasty, and I absolutely love their whipped sweet potatoes! Service was also just okay. Fisherman's platter was interesting, there were more fries than anything else not enough seafood to justify the cost. The stuffed tail was burned, flavorless and tough. Legal is the best place to get seafood in Boston. All locations have a dedicated area for gluten-free food and most of their food is gluten-free to begin with.
