Over the past few visits to Il Massimo I've noticed a huge improvement in the food and service! The staff has been very attentive and friendly each visit. Our servers were quick to refill our waters and check if we needed anything else throughout our visit. The food comes out pretty quickly and has been consistently tasty. The restaurant is pretty big so there usually isn't much of a wait which is nice. Overall this has become one of my go to spots when I'm craving some Italian food and fresh pasta!

    Gnocchi with Short Rib Gnocchi

We went here on a Saturday afternoon impromptu. They had some outdoor seating with the umbrellas which is what we opted for. Our appetizer were mussels and GF calamari. Both dishes were good. We also good some GF rolls for the table. The diet-coke we ordered was flat, no sign of any carbonation! Our server tried another tap and was hoping for better results but there was nothing much he could do. Our mains we ordered gnocchi with short rib and a branzino. Branzino was cooked to perfection and the peppadew peppers added a nice touch and color and depth to the entire dish, we loved it. The gnocchi was delightful and very filling and that came home with us. And we also enjoyed a gluten-free lava cake. So thankful for the gluten free menu they have.

I was lured to this place because of their patio. Sitting on the patio, I was enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon blanc while reading my book. This restaurant offers complementary bread and olive oil. The olive oil has real olives in it which is a nice touch. My entree was the fusilli con polpette e burrata. While the presentation was beautiful, the entree itself wasn't flavorful. I asked my waiter for some red pepper flakes to add some flavor. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Yesterday I came here with some coworkers, i ordered the short rib gnocchi and cannoli trio and tried some calamari appetizer. Calamari appetizer-Good lemony flavor, tasted fresh. Gnocchi with short rib ragu- short rib was super tender and juicy, sauce was sweet but not too sweet. Good flavor. The gnocchi had just the right amount of chew and was generous with the portion. Cannoli trio-1 chocolate chip cannoli, 1 orange cannoli, 1 pistachio cannoli. The cannoli cream tasted very fresh, just the right amount of sweetness, very generous with the chocolate chips. Super tasty. Overall: if ever in the area, check them out, they are quite good.

I really wanted to like Il Massimo given the convenient location (for anyone visiting Legacy Place in Dedham). Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed in every respect The service was 'okay' - not particularly bad, but not great either. We were surprised to see the folks delivering food from the kitchen went to wrong person/table on the first attempt nearly every time we witnessed them. The food was 'okay' - not particularly bad, but not very good either. Our dishes were VERY over-sauced and when my fiancée complained that her broccoli rabe tasted "off" she was told "broccoli rabe often tastes sour." Really? You don't asssume the 50-something-year-old couple you're serving has never had broccoli rabe before? She eats all the time and usually loves it. It was inedible. The ambiance is in the same category, not 'bad' but not very inspired either. I'm sort of shocked the Yelp community finds Il Massimo with 4-star-worthy. I hate to say, but I think they can do much, much better -- and I hope they do.

About last night at I'll Massimo: Excellent Food and Excellent Service. I had all of this tastiness served by one of the best servers ever: Miss Sofia. I'm in Dedham once a year for Crime Bake. I will return here!

Came here for a friends bday and was the perfect environment. They were very nice and provided a free dessert. We wished the appetizer came with either bread or cracker so it would be easier to eat but the burrata tasted great. The pasta was delicious and the sauce vas very rich. The tiramisu was light and fluffy. Overall had a great experience

The FS Seafood Risotto tasty had a lot of seafood but needed one more shrimp. Flavor profile could use a bit of a boost
    Mildred K.

Hadn't popped in for a solo lunch date in years had to come make sure they were still here and they did not disappoint. I opted for the 3 Course Presto lunch. My choices were the Insalata di Cesare, Risotto di Mare, and the Tiramisu. The Cesare and Tiramisu were absolutely delicious.I was pleased with the amount of seafood in the Risotto, although I would have liked one more shrimp to balance the mussels and clams. The flavor could have been a bit more present the cheesy flavor was there but I still felt it could've used a bit more oomf I did add salt and pepper to pick it up as best I could but definitely would like to see some more flavor profiles added.Thank you to Cesar for taking care of me and checking on me with each dish he was a delight on this lovely September day!

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

While I can appreciate the choose your own adventure / tasting concept and benefits of moving at your own pace, wine tasting is something where I'd prefer to have more of a personal touch. The storytelling and personal connection was missing, and made the experience feel a bit hollow. The space was a nice open hang and there's snacks and games, and there is staff there, but the experience made me realize I prefer a guided human tour for some things, wine tasting being one of them. Prices also snuck up on us a bit, it's easy to lose count of how many you've had with the card reader. I was also a bit bummed to find that if you liked a wine you cannot purchase a bottle on site. But I'm glad I tried it and had fun.

We walked into a spacious, contemporary space with a large bar and plenty of seating, the kind of place that works equally well for watching a game with friends or a relaxed dinner. The interior had a comfortable, polished energy that struck a balance between lively and approachable, and the extensive beer and whiskey selection added to the inviting atmosphere. The menu goes beyond typical bar food with a mix of elevated comfort dishes, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and seasonal entrées. We ordered a few items and found the Chilean sea bass standing out, paired with a flavorful sauce that complemented the fish without overpowering it. The lamb with gnocchi was another popular choice, offering a hearty and well-balanced dish with tender meat and pillowy gnocchi that absorbed the rich sauce. The burgers were cooked to order and made a reliable option for something more casual, arriving juicy and well assembled. For drinks and appetizers, the calamari, burrata, and flatbreads were good options to share, each coming out fresh and well seasoned. The bar program was another highlight, with a wide selection of craft beers, whiskey, and classic cocktails that were well prepared and paired naturally with the food. Service was friendly and welcoming, with staff happy to make recommendations and accommodate different group sizes. While some visits could experience slower service during busy periods, the overall experience tended to be attentive, and the team worked to create a comfortable atmosphere for both families and larger groups. The pacing of the meal stayed steady, and the food came out without much delay. Parking is available in a small lot, though it could fill up during peak dining hours, and the restaurant's location near shopping on Needham Street made it a convenient stop before or after running errands. Overall, District 118 Kitchen & Bar is a solid choice for anyone looking for elevated pub fare in a relaxed setting. The combination of quality food, a strong drink selection, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it equally enjoyable for a casual lunch, dinner with family, or an evening out with friends.
