Kim gave me such a beautiful haircut! I called yesterday and they were able to squeeze me in for a midday appointment. Parking: a small lot behind Legends, there is also street parking around the area as well The salon is beautifully designed with lots of art and fresh flowers, and I love that they have all sorts of teas, water, etc available along with cookies. Jessika washed my hair and I really liked that she had a great massaging technique for my scalp. I showed a few pictures of what I wanted (long layers, keep the length, something I can airdry without too much day-to-day styling, something professional), and Kim knew exactly what I wanted and delivered everything I had hoped for. I really enjoyed chatting with Kim and Jessika, and you can tell all the other clientele there were treated like old friends. This is a wonderful salon that feels upscale but also welcoming. Just the last Thursday, Legends Hair opened up and I was able to book an appointment with Brooke for this Saturday. Amidst the chaos of COVID-19, she and the rest of the salon took all necessary requirements to be able to open up for business. Upon arrival Brooke took my temperature and both of us sanitized. She then proceeded to inform me of what they are doing before, during, and after each client to ensure they are following all guidelines and ensuring both mine and their safety from any exposure. So, of course, I felt at ease and excited to have my hair appointment. I last had a haircut about a year ago, so I wanted to keep the short length, but clean it up. She went right to work. For the first time in a salon, I didn't have to get up and trot across the room to get my hair washed. Low and behold, part of the styling bar folded up to have the sink right there. It is such a minor thing, and yet I thought it was so convenient and creative! So with a swivel of the chair I was getting my hair washed. She used a Redken mixture and it smelt so good. However, the massage she gave was the best part! It was so relaxing!! While cutting my hair, she was so gentle and precise. You could tell she's been at this for a while, and she admitted (when I asked) that's she's been doing this since she graduated high school. When you love something you stick with it, right? Overall, I had a great experience with Brooke. I didn't realize that I needed to be pampered and Brooke did a great just making me feel welcome, relaxed, and beautiful! Thank you for a great job! Made an appointment for hair color, very fast response by the owner who got me in with a stylist named Ryan the next day. Very comfortable atmosphere, NO GOSSIP, cute family owned salon. Unfortunately, my hair has been through a LOT, I was somewhat solid bleach-blonde with dark grown-out roots. My hair verbiage needs some work but Ryan was very patient, VERY knowledgeable, communicated everything so well and took his time to make sure I understood, (which I greatly appreciate). I love the color yet it's a big change for me personally so I asked him the day after if he could add some blonde pieces to frame the face to brighten it up a little, he said of course, with no problem. I want to go on record as saying that I don't like writing negative reviews. Having worked in the customer service industry for the majority of my career, I know that people tend to only remember the bad and we need to celebrate positivity. But this review was earned and it is about a stylist there, not about the salon which is very clean, light and bright, however I don't intend to ever see it again. This stylist is popularly there and the salon raves about him. Seeing the images he posts, I had high hopes and a level of confidence that I don't normally have. Being new to the area, I thought I was making a solid decision with him. I couldn't have been more wrong and my advice is that if you have fine hair, DO NOT GO TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE PATIENCE TO TAKE THE TIME TO PROCESS YOUR FINE HAIR AND WILL MAKE UNPROFESSIONAL DECISIONS ABOUT CHEMICALS FOR YOUR HAIR. My hair broke off and I can only imagine what it looked like for him in the sink when he was rinsing it - it must have been shocking. But let's go back in time for a moment on how we got to this point: my first appt with said stylist was positively wonderful - I have fine hair and had grown it out for a few years to ensure it was "pure" and ready for highlighting which I only wanted to try to blend a few subtle grays. Knowing my reservations, I think he was considerate about being conservative during this visit and I walked out of their LOVING my hair - I told him that no matter what, I only ever wanted to highlight around my face and I thought that this request would carry over into our future processes together. However when I returned for a root touchup 3 months later and said I was thinking about "more" (in the areas around my face that had been highlighted) and gave him free reign on doing what he thought might look good, I was SO disappointed when he basically highlighted my whole head to below my ears. I thought to myself, "maybe he is doing some small highlights so it "fades" and blends better??" but I admit that I never asked the question during the process bc I just sort of thought that he was the professional and he is going to make me look beautiful. But when it was done, which was FAST for highlighting (1.5hr), it was SO NOT what I was wanting or had asked for and definitely not what my fine hair could handle. Needless to say when he had finished blowdrying I looked at my hair and noticed how mousy and limp it suddenly looked, and BRASSY (not a word anyone getting highlights wants to describe their hair!!). I had previously STOPPED coloring my hair for 2 years prior, and also chopped my hair from mid back to shoulder length knowing that the highlighted path was probably where I'd be taking my hair as it transitioned into getting grays. To arrive to this outcome was not part of the plan. But I didn't want to say anything, I just wanted to get the heck out of there and inspect in the privacy of my own mirror. I didn't want to overreact in front of his face. But in the car on my drive home I ran my fingers through my hair and, OMG, I realized I had lost a huge volume of hair - it was so remarkably fine! The roots were sticking to my head and the strands were limp and stringy. There was no reason why my hair should have been highlighted as much it is had been #1, but I did tell him to do what he felt would look good so I accept responsibility for that. But he made a choice in the chemicals he would use to try to achieve the highlight AND he fast forwarded the highlight process, compacting it into a 1.5 hr time period. Never in the history of all of my highlights has a highlight ever occurred on my head in less than 6 hours. 6 HOURS compacted to 1.5 HOURS??! This stylist is NOT A PROFESSIONAL. With fine hair, you AVOID bleach as much as possible.. or you make it a slowwwwww process. I had also told him in the beginning that I wanted to try to avoid bleach bc I didn't think my hair could handle it. He seemed to think it could and this is the result. Now my hair is an absolute mess and I'm not about to pixie cut it to my scalp, I'm just suffering through the growing out process. I'm so disappointed. He has altered my hair for at least a few years while I try to regrow it. PLEASE learn from me and ask the right questions if you have fine hair. I know this stylist has a fan club and I think that's great that they didn't have the experience that I did - I wish their hair lots of luck. **NOTE** Reluctantly I did return to him and asked him what my options were - he decided to put a toner over it to darken up the back a lot and the front enough that it wouldn't be as exposed and fragile. He didn't offer a refund of my money and, frankly, I don't want a refund, I just want my healthy hair back :( I did see another stylist to just cut my hair as I'll be cutting a lot for a few years. They apologized on his behalf and confirmed he "grossly over-processed my hair". read more

He had a few recommendations, however, his TOP choice for color without hesitating was Ryan! My friend is "uber" picky about color as I AM ...he felt completely confident Ryan was the right colorist for me. Brook is awesome! She listened to what I wanted and showed me pictures to help me decide on a style. I was 100% happy with my haircut and color! Such a great stylist! Brook did excellent work with my color, cut, style, and blowout. I left the salon feeling fantastic-I felt sexy and chique. I will definitley continue to come back. Additionally, Legends is a very tasteful and fashionable place. The entire staff is so nice! They have a great selection of products, and they made me feel like a princess with their offers of beverages and treats, too. Brook also cuts my two teenage boys hair. She keeps them looking very fashionable! The cut not only looks fantatic directly after the cut, but it grows out very well, too. Plus, they really like talking with her! For my first appointment with him he squeezed me in the next day when my prior stylist had an emergency and cancelled last minute and I had family photos immediately following. While at the salon we chatted like old friends, he was so easy to talk to, and really made me feel comfortable. Just got another Keratin Complex treatment with Amanda at Legends! It's made my hair very Smooth but more importantly it's made my hair all the same texture and easy to style. I've cut off 20 minutes of my styling time because it's blow dry and go!! After a bad experience with a Keratin treatment from a stylist named Crystal, I was sorely disappointed with my hair. However, it must have been my bad luck because when I came back to get it fixed I had a completely wonderful experience! Even though Crystal no longer works here (for the better, I emailed her asking if she could fix my hair but she ignored me) the owner, who had nothing to do with my first appointment, offered to fix my hair for free. This made such a big difference because it really shows how committed she is to making sure her customers are happy and satisfied. I chatted with some other stylists there and they were very friendly and helpful. The owner Kim fixed my hair and looks amazing now, so so much better than after my initial treatment. She was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I was really impressed by her professionalism and willingness to help me out. I would definitely go back there after this! To start off they didn't answer the phone so I left a voicemail they didn't get back to me for another week. The woman on the phone had a very short attitude and I brushed it off. Then when I finally came in for my appointment I see only trimmed out like I asked who is very dull scissors and shaky hands then when she asked How I like my hair styled I said straight and then she proceeded to curl my hair. Then she charged me 85+ tip which came out to 105 honestly it wasn't worth it because you can't even tell I got a haircut. My first visit to Legends was over 2 years ago and my stylist was Brooke Rivera. Decision time......"How would you like your hair cut and styled today?" I wanted a new look which usually involved cutting length off, which I have been reluctant to do since forever. I asked her can you cut my hair and style it in a similar fashion as yours is? She said "yes," which I replied let's do it. When she was finished it was about at my shoulders in front and tapered slightly upwards to the back, with just enough highlights to frame my face. Seriously, I have not had this many compliments about my hair in quite a long while, and what a difference it made in my appearance. Needless to say I have been a faithful client since. I came in to Legends with a not very even haircut and Kim came to the rescue! First I had a wonderful shampoo, conditioning and scalp/neck massage by another stylist and then Kim did her magic. She fixed my layers while we chatted, getting to know each other. Her mom started the salon and she is rightfully proud and protective of it.
