Mike was an amazing tattoo artist, this was my biggest tattoo yet on the knee and he made sure to ask how I'm doing and made me feel comfortable. I've been coming here to get a large tattoo with Mike. I spend quite a few hours on the table and have seen other artists work, hang out, and chit chat. All the artists are very nice and respectful. As my tattoo is on my back, I only use a small cover for my breasts. When I am walking around on breaks, I've never felt uncomfortable or out of place. I know that can be an issue for girls at other places. I've seen Ian working with his apprentices, giving tips and teaching. I am impressed with the level of work and respect for customers and respect for art. I've seen Ian's work and it is mind blowing. He is a top notch artist. He is out of my price range, so I haven't worked with him, but would recommend him to anyone. His portrait tattoos are the best I've ever seen. Mike is an amazing and experienced artist. When I began working with him, he had recently started his tattoo career. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to afford such a talented artist. I know he will soon be charging much more for his designs and his time, as he absolutely should. If you get the chance, book with Mike right away to get some of his art on your body. First and for most I'd like to say the bad reviews of this shop are garbage and straight haters.This shop is hands down the cleanest and most professional shop I've ever experienced in all my years of getting tattooed. I've now been tattooed by 2 different artists; Franklin Mint and Ian Miller. They both did an outstanding job. My fiancé recently got his first tattoo with Chris Dysart @stipplebeast and it turned out amazing!! Not only did they do 1 but 2 tattoos in one sitting! My fiancé knew he wanted to get a Persian lion and his middle name in Cuneiform. Chris was awesome at walking us through how he would be customizing the face on the lion and the details he would incorporate. We were blown away by his interpretation and drawing! He re-did the face but kept the integrity of the symbol and added stippling which is his speciality. He suggested the best placement and we couldn't have agreed more. The tattoos turned out amazing!! But when the apprentice (who is supposed to be working under a licensed artist, bites off way more than they can chew, well, that's where the owner steps in and makes it right. NOT anywhere near how it goes here at Legion Art. I scheduled a tat, showed the artist exactly what I wanted and at what size. The apprentice was nice enough, just a bit big for his britches. I had a fairly small, detailed piece that I wanted. What I got was a shoddy piece of work, an INFECTION, and AN attitude from the owner, Ian. I simply wanted the owner to make a situation right, that's the owners job!!!! Fix the parts that needed fixing, improve the shadows and details.... None of which the apprentice was trained in and/or he's just not that good. Nope. NOTHING, no answers to my emails or calls. Ian (owner) should back up any work that comes out of that shop, and he didn't, he didn't even have the decency to call/email and tell me how to deal with the INFECTION I got there or how to fix the shabby artwork. On top of that, the apprentice worked so damn slow, I was into the tat 350 bucks by the time I was done. It was a 150.00 piece, max, if it were done well, but it's not, basically it sucks and now I need a TATOO REDO....FORGET THIS PLACE, SAVE YOUR MONEY and don't let their nice sell get you, because if you have any problems, Ian will not be bothered. Best tattoo shop and staff in Roseville or anywhere. Ian and his staff are talented and professional, and just great people. The shop itself has a badass art collective and the cleanliness is out of this world. They literally have a staff member who cleans the shop and sterilizes equipment all day. Highly recommended for any style of tattoo. Christopher brought my tattoo back to life. It was a mess and now I'm getting compliments. I've made three trips to Legion and I'm planning more sessions with Christopher. I can't wait. Each visit is a great experience. read more

THE WORST!!! I can only speak to my experience w/DJ (artist) and Ian (manager and/or owner). DJ is incapable of tattooing anything outside of the traditional american style, so drawing is a bit of a challenge for him. He also suffers from the inability to communicate effectively (at least via text). After 3 attempts, he wasn't able to produce the design I asked for simply because he wouldn't LISTEN. He disregards VERY descriptive feedback, takes no direction and just draws what he wants or can. After 6 weeks of his procrastinating, non-listening ways, I gave up and decided to decline his services 72hrs in advance of the appt, because upon presenting his 3rd drawing, he had the NERVE to ask me for an additional deposit if I didn't like his 3rd attempt!?! TF!?! Of course, I didn't like it, cuz he DON'T LISTEN and apparently, my initial deposit had been exhausted from his tireless attempts of drawing the wrong sh*t! You trifling a** man... If you had actually received any of the feedback I gave instead of drawing whatever TF you wanted, you'd be tattooing me this weekend, stupid! Not to mention, the drawing of the design is included in the artist's hourly charge for the tatt, so WTF are we arguing about here!!!???!!! Also, WHY would I want to waste more money and time on your efforts when U DON'T LISTEN!!!!???? Long story short, Ian backed his artist on some ignorant gang gang sh*t, but being forced to forfeit my deposit (bc I DID ask for a refund, pls believe me!) was worth the peace that came after I told them to keep the deposit and get TF outta here! I had an appointment at 1pm for today - money sent via PayPal. Drove 1 1/2 hours from Manteca only to have everyone be confused and go "that's today?". My boyfriend and I both took the day off to come here, excited to get my tattoo done. They say oh we can do it today at 4pm!?! What!? I'm expected to wait around for 3 hours, 1 1/2 hours from home on a Monday because the receptionist was too incompetent to realize that "I'll take that appointment, money will be sent now" is not a confirmation of appointment. The fuck am I supposed to do for 3 hours? Go get lunch for an hour then sit around twiddling my thumbs for another 2 hours. All of sudden it is now my fault because I didn't "send confirmation via email after the money was sent" when I was never even told to do that to begin with. If I sent the money and said I'll take the appointment then that's the confirmation!!!!! I should be sent a receipt and confirmation from YOU. "Oh well the receptionist doesn't have access to PayPal" the fuck!? That makes no sense. So I could've said oh yeah I sent the money and then never even sent anything. How would they know, she doesn't have access right? When I asked for my deposit I wasn't asked to show a receipt because YOU GOT MY MONEY. Therefore reserving the spot. No one would truly own up to their mistake. And instead tried to blame me. Shop manager starts with "I'm not saying it's your fault BUT everyone has always sent an email after sending money" or some shit like that. So you ARE trying to blame me. They obviously knew I was coming if "oh that was today?" So clearly you got my money. Thankfully got the deposit back. Doesn't change the fact I drove so far and took the whole day off work - my boyfriend and I BOTH. Ridiculous. read more

Let me start off my saying that this is the friendliest and most welcoming shop I've ever been to! I was tattooed by Kirstie who really took her time to make sure she got my piece JUST right. She made me feel comfortable and asked all of the right questions and I walked out with one of my favorite pieces of all time.The whole experience was so wonderful, you can tell that everyone that works here loves what they do and they function as a team which was great to see. There's no other tattoo shop in the area that I have found to have the work and passion as the this one. I originally found Ian and his work in Modesto and drove from Turlock to him. When he opened this ship up all the way in Roseville I drove the 2 hours to him every time. His work is beyond exceptional. I have not been able to find an artist that offers what he does, no where in Turlock, Modesto, and anywhere in a 2 hour radius. His work is extremely clean. I originally went to him two years ago wanting one piece done and let me tell you. Since day 1 I have been blown away, two years later and now a full sleeve done lol. I am to this day always stopped by people asking where I got all my work done. He is and will always be my go to artist. His passion in detail and fast faced work screams what a true tattoo artist should stand for. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to have met him and have all my meaningful tattoos come to life. I have from him now maybe a total of 10 pieces done. This shop will go so far, and these artists will continue to learn and collaborate with Ian. Let me tell you, in conclusion, if you want realism, or want something that you will never regret or say "damn I should've paid a little more to have a better tattoo done" then go to Ian's shop. He will bring what you want to life and so much more. And if what you're looking for happens to be a little different, he's got an amazing apprentice Kristelle, or even Christopher who I've seen does amazing mandala pieces. Either one of them will do the work. If you don't find what you're looking for in Ian, you sure as hell will find them in his apprentice or Chris. They all work and feed off each other to make an amazing staff. I will need to find all my albums of my pieces to upload to show you all of Ian's work done on me. My roommate has gotten work done by Ian before. I went with her to her appointment and he had extra time, so I paid (way too much) to get simple script on my forearm. He was done in fifteen minutes, it was quick. The tattoo blew out BAD. It looks like a giant bruise on my arm and I am constantly asked if the tattoo is new, super embarrassing as it's one of my most visible tattoos. I had my other forearm done by a different artist with much more detail and shading and it was perfectly fine, no blowout. I messaged Ian, not accusing him of anything, just telling him what happened and asked why it could have occurred. I've never had a blowout and wasn't sure what caused it. He never responded. A few months later he was shaming a client on his Instagram because the client didn't like his work. I commented on the post, saying that he never responded to me. All of a sudden Ian Miller doesn't exist, and it looks like I'm blocked. Unprofessional and conceited at best. Not willing to answer simple questions from a concerned client with a fucked up tattoo. I would never recommend someone like him to anyone. In the future, consider working on your communication skills, as you clearly don't have any. I'm currently working on covering up this horrible tattoo because I can't stand looking at it anymore. read more
