I discovered late in life that I have a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that has caused some health complications in the past 4 years. It took most of this time to get a handle on it. I decided I wanted to memorialize my journey with my first ever tattoo. I wanted to capture themes of DNA and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome in the tattoo, so I started by creating an initial draft as inspiration. https://www.ehlers-danlos.com/why-the-zebra Since my own artistic talent didn't cut it, I decided to try out Microsoft CoPilot's image generator, and I experimented with tattoo designs. I created one I liked so started asking around about tattoo artists in the Rocklin area. Mario was careful to point out that a real tattoo wouldn't have the AI generated luster and lighting imagined by the AI, but he felt he could get pretty close. My appointment arrived. The parlor was comfortable, with big screen tv and streaming services to keep me distracted. Mario was personable and accommodating. Since it was my first tattoo, he took extra time to answer my questions about the process, the ink and after care. I got my wedding ring tattoo here with Mario. Me and my husband. I absolutely love it and he did a really good job and explained to me why a full band may not be the way to go because of how fingers rub together so much, it tends to fade there and healing is painful. I'm not a big review writer but in this case I had to make an exception. I've been wanting a tattoo for a few years now but really wanted something meaningful to my life and not just a tattoo to have a tattoo. I had a few ideas and was open to the right artist using their creativeness to put my ideas into something I really wanted. After looking at what felt like a thousand tattoo artists instagram pages ​and just not really finding the style of tattoo I wanted (think fine line mixed with some realism) I finally went to FB to see who people were talking about. Mario's name came up consistently. Sooo I stalked his instagram and finally reached out. He was booked out for a few months but after a little back and forth he managed to squeeze me in sooner than planned. I appreciated that he took that extra time to fit me in. I came in for a consult where he drew up a design and listened to everything I was wanting. When I left that consult I was so happy and I knew I made the right choice already. The next time I saw him he did the outline. I couldn't believe that a tattoo as big as I got just didn't hurt at all. He was gentle and so precise. I almost forgot I even got a tattoo after the first day. He gave me easy clear instructions on the care of the tattoo as well. Today I went in for my last and final session. It was shading/shadowing day. I again experienced the same professionalism and gentle approach that I did from the first session. He made sure the studio was a comfortable temperature and he goes above and beyond in ensuring the studio was sterile and clean. He even got me hooked on a Netflix show to help the time go by.
