Looks like another 5 star review for Lighthouse Tattoo in the books for me! After the hospital has to take out so my jewelery, I had a hard time putting my nose ring back in. I remembered that Tyler told me that Selena is the piercer that works here. So as I headed out for the day, I stopped in to say hi to everyone. I got to say hello to Tyler and officially meet Selena! Everyone was kicked back and it was so chill in there. Great vibe! I wanted to give them a little business, so I purchased a new nose ring and tongue ring. She pulled out the jewelery and after selecting what I wanted, she sanitized the chair and jewelry. Brought me in and started pushing the jewelery into my nose. After being out for a few days, it needed to be pierced again. OUCH! Selena had to grab the piercing needle (I forgot the word she used for it) and push it through. Then, she had to push the jewelery through. It was rougher this time because I had scar tissue in there. She also put my tongue ring in for me and made sure it was on there nice and tight. She took good care of me, spayed my nose with saline to keep the area clean. I really love the vibe when I walk in here. Am I weird or is there something soothing about the sound of the tattoo gun working? I got my earlobes pierced today by Serena and it was such an amazing experience!! To start, I had been super nervous to get my ears pierced. The last time I had gotten a piercing was a cartilage done at Lovisa (I know, terrible choice lol). It was not a great experience and I had to take it out!! I told Serena about my past experience and she reassured me that everything would be perfectly fine. When I walked in, everyone working was extremely kind welcoming me in. Serena immediately began helping me. She picked a super cute set, keeping in mind that I mentioned I would probably be going back in about 8 weeks to pick out a new set. I filled out the waiver and we got started! When I walked back into the piercing room I could tell it was extremely clean (big bonus points for that). I sat down and she got started with cleaning my ears, marking where the piercings would go, and made sure I approved of the placement first. We got ready to do the actual piercing and I told her that I wasn't a huge fan of needles and she was super accommodating of that which was amazing. The piercing was super easy and they came out phenomenal!! A few deep breaths and it was done. When finished, she gave me the after care routine instructions. I'm so happy with my experience. I cannot say enough about this place! I flew in from Phoenix Arizona to reconnect with my three best friends from high school. We had not all been together in 38 years and we're huge prince fans. I called several tattoo shops in Auburn but was either treated with disrespect on the phone or could not get an appointment. Then I called Lighthouse and spoke to Tyler. I shared my story, that my three best friends and I are meeting for the first time in 38 years and want to get the print simple tattoos. Long post incoming. I don't even really know how to write this post. I don't know how to find the correct words when this tattoo changed my life so much. Just know that no matter how I might try this post will not do justice to Dan and Lighthouse Tattoos. Book your appointments now, that's the best advice I can give you. I'll start with the back story. I have psoriasis, an autoimmune disease where essentially your skin cells build up too quickly and your skin turns into scaly red itchy patches. There is no cure, only treatment, and I can tell you from experience it sucks. It itches so much that I would frequently wake up with bloody sheets from literally scratching my skin off in my sleep. I started laser treatment for it about two and years ago and it has made a massive difference. The once massive patches have shrunk down more than two times their original size and the smaller patches are mostly gone. And I'm no longer itchy most days For all of this I was and still am very very thankful. However I had patches all over my body, especially on my arms and legs. I guess now is a good time to mention I'm one of the fairest people on this earth. You can compare me to the crappy translucent white paper they used to give us to write with in grade school. So basically everything shows up on my skin, I scar really easy and unfortunately my psoriasis left a lot of ugly looking scars all over my body. I'm not like the most girly of girls but people I didn't know would ask what it was, like I would possibly give it to them. And like I get it, it looks like a rash, but it's not contagious in any way, and rather than dealing with the embarrassment of it all and trying to explain it or the scars (having anxiety didn't help the situation) I have spent the last five years hiding, covering my entire body up ALL YEAR LONG. Including triple digit summers. Yes I know this on me but it was not something I was getting over on my own or with therapy. I would try clothes on that showed a little more skin and I'd end up in tears refusing to leave my house like that because I was worried about the stares and the questions and how I would answer. Or I would leave somewhere because of a reaction if I'd managed to get myself out. I felt gross to everyone even though it was not contagious. And I really do understand why people have to be concerned, I am not angry at anyone. The answer was to hide for me, it was easier and safer and I got comfortable there. Anyways about a year after I started treatment I started wondering about a sleeve. That is when I met Dan at light house tattoos. A lot to be said about Dan. One of the coolest dudes you will ever meet. Family man who is just super down to earth and real about life and the world we live in. He's a giver in the end, and in my opinion strives to make the world more beautiful for the people in it. Rare to meet just an all around good person, and he's made sure to surround himself with good people in his shop. Anyone you see there will be the same. Not all artists will work with you if you have psoriasis, one thing to note. It can flair up and damage the tattoo, so artists often don't want to work with it. Furthermore tattooing itself can actually onset psoriasis. Any damage to the skin can onset it and it's hard to imagine more damage than a sleeve to skin. Dan however wasn't phased. We planned to go around the areas (my elbows for example still have somewhat large active psoriasis scales) with active psoriasis and cover the scars with the rest. I would continue my treatment as usual (no laser treatment for the first month of healing for me minus the elbow that wasn't tattooed at all) and treat any new spots that came up. Not only did I come to this man with an autoimmune disease and scarring and a maze of psoriasis to work around but I also only had an idea of what I wanted. I wanted an Alice in wonderland sleeve with some of the artwork in the book. Essentially it's very extensive line work in all shades of blacks and greys. I told him a few pieces I loved but didn't know how to make it come together. To this day I couldn't tell you what I was imagining but somehow Dan did. Let me tell you when I say this man has a magically artistic brain, he has a freaking magically artistic brain. He designed me the most beautiful sleeve I've ever seen on a person. Each piece is accented like it's the main piece of the sleeve. They each stand out on their own, while somehow he still made the whole tattoo flow together down my arm, it's so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful I still can't even believe I get so walk around with it on my arm. To say I love it would an understatement, Dan is brilliant. There's no other word for it. Continued in photos. Will add photos of the tattoo shortly as well. read more

I'd love to be able to review the artwork and artist, however I cannot since after making an appointment I was told I wouldn't be able to be seen. I believe the reason for the blow off, not once, but three times was because the girl who walked in behind me, was "young and cute". I spent 3 days messaging them on IG, I confirmed my appointment via IG 3 hours before my appointment time and was "yeah, totally," when I asked if we were still on, and drove the 30 minutes. I showed up and was told I'd have to wait until the "cute girl" was done. The reason for making the appointment is because I have a life. Sadly, I will not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Not going to name names, but some artists here charge $200/hour... for a simple tattoo with sloppy line work . I paid $100 for a tattoo that was done in 10 minutes... It took her 15 minutes to prep her station and 5 minutes to explain aftercare. Why are you charging customers for the time it takes you to clean up for the client before you?? Giving two stars because the artist was nice and had a good attitude but won't be going back for $200/hr for a flash tattoo. read more

DO NOT GET A TATTOO HERE, PLEASE! 1st off, I felt the artists were pushy and aggressive -- they tried to push both me and my friend into getting tattoos we did not want, and were rude while we were getting tattooed. My artist freehanded details I specifically said I didn't want, and messed up some lines (then pretended they were supposed to look like that). HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT THE WORST PART! My friend's artist, Peter, MISSPELLED HER TATTOO, then DID NOT OFFER TO REFUND HER, DID NOT OFFER TO FIX IT WITH WITCH HAZEL, and shrugged it off as something "that had never happened to him before." He acted annoyed that she was upset, and offered minimal solutions. DO NOT LET PETER OR DANNY near your body -- you will be pushed into things you're not asking for, you'll be treated poorly, and you just might end up with a misspelled tattoo. Save your money, and do not support a business that treats customers like this and doesn't put care into the quality of their work. read more

Finding a tattoo artist and shop that you fully trust can be super challenging, especially when it comes to 1) wanting a custom piece, 2) to cover an unsightly scar, and 3) in a "sensitive" area, but Chris L at Lighthouse Tattoo Club is exceptional in each regard. It's not always the most comfortable thing to lay out on a tattoo chair with your upper hip/butt exposed for hours, but the staff here was extremely professional and I was shocked by how at-ease I felt. Chris has done pretty much all of my tattoos and I trust him 100% to make kickass custom pieces. Whether you want something from the wall, from Pinterest/Instagram, or something completely spontaneous and original, Chris will never disappoint! He's got a real talent with colors and shading and his personal style is just amazing. I had so much fun getting my most recent piece - my biggest one yet - and he did such a great job covering my scar that it's barely even noticeable anymore, thankfully! Fantastic piercing experience! The "perforationist" was extremely professional and patient. He was thorough about aftercare and through every step of the process. I've had piercings done at various shops in the past, but this was by far the cleanest, most thorough, and calmest experience I've ever had. Sure, the new piercings hurt, but he had such a relaxed and soothing way about him which made the process easy. I got a new rook and middle cartilage piercing on my left ear and two upper cartilage piercings on my right ear to even out my existing piercings. He took so much time measuring and making sure that everything was even so that my new piercings match seamlessly with my existing ones. Well done! What a wonderful experience. Clean shop, great people. I waited a bit while Peter did the artwork for my tattoo so it gave me the opportunity to observe. Everyone was polite without fawning. I'm 62, maybe not so common for an old(er) lady to start getting tattoos later in life (got my first about 3 yrs ago), anyway, they made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. One thing I found refreshing was the honesty I heard spoken. One artist wasn't very familiar with something a customer asked about. He told the customer so and promised to do some research on the issue for him. They all seemed very committed to excellence. Peter didn't rush, made sure I was comfortable throughout the process as this one was much more intricate than my other tattoos.
