ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MINI FIG AT THE BEGGINING IF YOU PAY EXTRA FOR ONE. We were very disappointed with this one aspect. We came here for my daughters birthday and we paid extra with our tickets to get the surprise mini figure for everyone that came (6 total). We didn't open the bags until we got home so we wouldn't loose any piece of them (we live hours away). When we got home we discovered one mini figure was missing the legs. My family was ahead in line and he didn't give my husband and toddler the 3d glasses. Amazing place to take young kids. Decided to surprise the kids with a trip to "The Ultimate Indoor Lego Playground." A bit of a superlative but still a decent place to take the kids and spend a couple of hours. First off this place was actually a bit smaller than I had expected but it was still fun for all involved. Thankfully the Lego stations are spread all throughout and each station seems to have a theme from Building a car to race down a hill, to a creative workshop where kids can take part in building a large picture. Lettered throughout are some smaller attractions such as a ride with laser wands and a Ninja maze where you need to navigate a hallway without touching the lasers. Again it's all very small scale but enjoyable for the younger age group. The most interest part (for me) was the mini land in the center with local land marks throughout the bay. It was nice seeing these landmarks but unfortunately parts of The attraction were not working as intended or broken such as the train and the basketball interactive exhibit. This was a bit of a bummer and surprising it has not been fixed. This seemed to be an ongoing issue looking at the other reviews. The only other issue was the Cafe. A bit expensive and service was slow, but the staff was doing its best, so I didn't really fault them. Staff was trying to go out its way to bring items to people that had been waiting. Word of warning, if you are going for a Starbucks drink while it's busy, be prepared to wait! The last thing to keep in mind is that this place can get busy, so try to arrive early. The retail shop attached is a bit smaller than expected but still had some interesting items. Although since it is on the outside, one you exit you can't go back in. Definitely worth a visit but probably not a place I would grab an annual pass for. read more

Indoor Lego-themed play center, we easily spent two hours here. Timing is by reservation only and even though it felt crowded at times the kids were able to play with everything they wanted to and the longest we waited in line was 15 minutes. I really loved "Miniland" a lego re-creation of bay area icons such as Apple Campus, Golden Gate Bridge, San Jose Museum of Art, Lombard Street, etc...The cool thing is these builds are indoors so they won't get sun-faded and nasty like they do at legoland and if you stay inside for a bit the "day" scene in the room transitions to night time and there is a digital fireworks show on the wall. The 4D show we enjoyed as well, on a hot day some of the 4D effects were really nice and adults and kids were entertained by the 15-20 minutes movie. The building areas you can build and race cars down a ramp. There is an earthquake area where you can use duplo to build on a surface that shakes when you press a button, we didn't see anything that could survive the shaking. BIG thing to note is there are no "return stamps" once you leave. I left to grab the kids some water and couldn't get back in. read more

Such a cool place, for children and parents alike! Be warned though, the website says you HAVE to have a child to enter LOL so you can't just go in by yourself if you're an adult. I took my son here with his 2 godparents and my partner and we all had a blast. It was kind of crowded but then again it was a weekend, and this place is located in Great Mall. The first thing we did was hop on the ride at the front where you take these "laser guns" and shoot at things on the screen. My son is a year and a half old so he didn't enjoy it but the adults sure did. I'm sure my son will grow to love it when he gets older. There are also a TON of Lego building stations. Eat your freakin heart out Lego fans! There were slides, a play structure (which we actually avoided Bc COVID..) a spot where you could build with Duplos and shake the table to see the sturdiness or your building .. a car building station where you can test the speed of your car on a racetrack.. and other games like a Ninja reflex game and omg a NINJA LASER ROOM where you play ninja/spy and try to get through the room without touching the lasers in a true ninja fashion! We played that game like 4x LOL! There's a cafe and it looks like there will be rooms for bdays.... And the piece de resistance... a full room modeling the San Francisco Bay Area... New Lego center in the Great Mall. Took my daughter here and overall we liked it. It's large, but not that large. There is a ride, but it's pretty short, but still nice. Lots of Lego related activities, but the show stopper is the 4K show. The kids loved it. They were screaming with joy. It was pretty fun. The low down is you can't come without accompanying at least one child 12 or under. But then again, it really is designed for little kids. Think of it as a mini version of Legoland park, and it's all indoors. We got all premium packages, and tbh I really don't know what the difference is other than paying $11 extra, and getting a Lego Collectable, we never got to try the VR attraction because it wasn't even open yet!!! So I wouldn't recommend the Premium Package. It isn't worth it at all. We also added the activity pack for $5. Tbh kids might have a bit of fun with it, but otherwise, I guess the scavenger hunt (finding coordinating stamps for certain pages), and the Lego lanyard is your type of thing to collect, go for it. Otherwise it's not worth it. We've been looking forward to this new Legoland Discovery Center for many months, and finally got to check it out today. It's been open about two weeks, and I was shocked that so many things weren't working in the Miniland, and at least one other attraction wasn't open. There's a quick little ride called Imagination Express (basically a train ride where you get to shoot your star wand at a few screens), but it's nothing like the fun at Legoland California. The 4K show isn't my kiddo's speed so we skipped it (and noticed really long lines there - and we went on a Tuesday afternoon!). There are a lot of opportunities to build with random Lego, and a little ramp to race your cars on with other kids too. There was a virtual reality thing in one corner but it was an additional charge so we skipped it. There's a "creative workshop" where there are scheduled times throughout the day where a master builder leads a mini build - you don't get to keep the build, and it was really quick and basic. It's the same build for the entire month. There's also a big play structure that the kids can climb and explore, which my kid enjoyed until it got crowded. (Note: "Children must be between 36" and 60" of height" to enter it.) An "earthquake table" area has base plates that move around, but there's only Duplo to build on it so it was quickly dismissed by my kid. The cafe seemed quite expensive, so we didn't get anything there (but I did take photos for the Yelp, since none had been posted earlier). The biggest letdown was the store, honestly. It's smaller than the Lego Store at Valley Fair Mall, and I didn't see much that was special to this location. You don't need to pay for the discovery center to enter the store (but once you enter the store from the discovery center, you can't go back the other way). Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere, and staff required you use one before that imagination ride. All of this for $26 per person. My kiddo was done in an hour. Oof. He is obsessed with Legoland California, and this was such a massive disappointment. They require pre-purchase of tickets, and it was definitely getting crowded by the time we left at 3pm. read more

This is a GREAT place to take your kids! I am a big kid at heart too so I personally loved the way everything was decorated, from the cute wall papers to the pirate boat and the AWESOME cafe! They sell snacks and coffee, among other goodies. Definitely worth the entrance price IMO. read more

Definitely a cool place for the kiddos. I went here for my godson's 5th birthday and the kids had a blast. They have a interactive train ride, 4D Lego (short) Movie experience, laser maze, and a bunch of other things that you can do. Once you pay the admission fee, you can enjoy any of the attractions with no additional cost. As an adult, my favorite thing was the area where they had a bunch of Lego sculptures of local sights. Levi's stadium, Oracle Park, the Ferry Building, Golden Gate Bridge, and Palace of Fine Arts just to name a few. Check it out! read more

We went on a holiday weekend and it was pouring rain - thus, it was extremely crowded. Not sure what it is about mall circulation, but if your stomach starts to churn and you get cold sweats like I do, this probably isn't the place for you with the sheer concentration of adults with lots of kids. We came at the peak time because it was a madhouse and a line to get in. Kids were screaming (it was around 1pm peak nap time), parents looked tired, and it seemed like every lego thing had a line or a wait. I would recommend coming here during the week when it's not as crowded. Lots of fun things for the kids. 5 stars is for the staff - super courteous and nice - they were very understanding when one of my kids (who usually doesn't mind crowds) was having a sensory meltdown. This place is a money pit. I came here the for the first time with my family recently. Each person is charged for entry $34 minimum. The main attraction is a train that the kids and adults can ride on. The front desk customer service staff was nice and explained that $34 pays for the train ride and access to the Lego play area. The next upgrade gives you VR capabilities for the train ride at $42 per person. There is a top tier level also but I forget the price. So I paid for the fam and off we went. Legos ahead! Of course AFTER paying and entering we learned the train is broke and not working. If I would have known that from the beginning I never would have paid and went somewhere else. While there are some impressive Lego builds here, it's was a souring experience. We chased our excited kid around as expected for a bit in the play area. To exit the place you are routed through the adjoined Lego store which morally felt dirty. I'm assuming the goal is for the kids to pressure their parents to buy Lego stuff before you leave. They definitely do a good job getting paid. Go corporate strategists, you earned that raise *sarcasm*. I wouldn't go again. There were lots of places to build on your own, games you can play, a huge play structure, and an actual ride! There was a huge display of some San Francisco attractions such as apple, giants stadium, the bridge, it was pretty awesome! We really enjoyed the workshop that was given by one of their members to build stuff. Wow!!! :) What a FANTASTIC time for our kids (and us!)!!! Wow, we all had an absolutely delightful and fun time! We bought tickets at the door with a military discount, and from the time we bought tickets until closing, there was so much to do for our 3yo son and 1yo daughter. We loved the Halloween theme with the fun paper Lego masks for pictures (Frankenstein, zombie cheerleader, etc.). The day time (lights on) and night time (lights off) Lego buildings of SF (located in the middle circular room) are amazing! The details are insane - love everything about the Niners stadium, Warriors, Golden Gate Bridge, Japan Town, Salesforce Tower, AT&T park, etc. - so cute!!!!! There are many areas to play and build with legos, a huge Lego car to sit in and play music (my 1yo loved this car!), a playground pirate ship (3yo loved climbing this!), a laser game room, 4D Lego movie theater, girls' Lego building area, creative center, a fun scavenger hunt (this month's theme is to build a pumpkin for Halloween, but you can't keep it!), a laser game train ride, and a Lego store next door! My ONLY two complaints: 1). kids can't keep anything they make or the scavenger build activity item; and 2). we didn't like this one man in a maintenance shirt come around saying things to kids "touch smack the bubble button or else you'll break it" or to a baby "don't stand in the Lego pit because the pieces will get dirty" (ummm... the kids are all touching, sucking, and stepping on them anyways, and the Lego pit had only five pieces in there and it looked like a ball pit for an infant!). Also, talk to us adults, not directly at the kids that won't listen to you anyways, lol. We took so many photos with our phone, so no need to purchase any photo package. Train ride is very short, but you can ride as many times as you want and the kids loved it. The 4D movie was a bit much for our 1yo and 3yo didn't like getting too wet, but it was still fun for him (I got a little dizzy!). There are two private rooms if you want to hold a party there. There are bathroom stalls with a sink that's at the height for toddler - yay. I love that there is a cafe inside that serves Starbucks coffee!! I could enjoy my latte sitting at the tables while watching the kids. The cute little lunch boxes that look like a Lego piece is sooo cute and a perfect box to hold lego pieces if you purchase any. The snacks (ie cheese stick, jello, pudding, pizza, pouch, milk) were great for the kids. We ordered the lunch pack that included the lunch box, entree (pizza), one snack and a drink. Military: you also get 10% off food and Legos at the store! It cost us around $65 ish (with military discount $5 off each) for three adults and one 3yo, which was well worth the fun and time playing here! The staff was kind and helpful. We've been around ten times after getting a good Black Friday deal on a Sunday-Friday annual pass. Our kids have had a lot of fun here but the administration is very strange and frustrating. It seems like every time we visit the rules for admission are different. No re-entry is annoying but not a dealbreaker. They started requiring advance reservations for annual pass holders and the checkout process is laborious and difficult - there's no login and you have to enter a long barcode for each pass holder. There's a few standout employees that make our visits more special but generally most of them are on the bare minimum energy side which is fine. Overall I'd recommend trying to get a good deal on an annual pass. I love the seasonal updates they do for holidays! read more

Our family visited this location during a rainy weekend to get some relief from being cooped inside of the house all week. The process to book tickets online was very easy and when we arrived, the check in process was smooth. We came around noon and the place was already filled with other families and kids who had the same idea. My son instantly gravitated to the lego play stations to start building. The place seems like a lego themed chuck-e-cheese. There were plenty of things to do to keep a toddler busy that included the rollercoaster, play gym area, multiple building stations that are themed and range from Duplo to Legos. The mini city structures that they have in the center are pretty cool to look at. Overall we spent about 2 hours here before my son was ready to leave. I was a little disappointed with the lack of hand sanitizing stations, given this is a very hands on excperience for the kids with lots of little germs just waiting to go home with their host kid. The staff was friendly, but it did seem a bit unorganized as some of the build station areas were a mess with lots of pieces on the ground. In addition, there were families using the tables at the build stations to eat their home packed food. In any event, it was a nice time out to experience once, but I probably would not come here again. You could probably get more out of a visit to the playground and a trip to the lego store for the price you pay for admission. read more

It's a small space with several lego station stations, "wand" shooting ride (slow paced and fun), dot bracelet station, small indoor playground (bring socks), and a decent Starbucks cafe that's overpriced but meh. It's nice to visit at least once, is what I'll say. We had wanted to go to the Legoland in Carlsbad, but ticket prices are ridiculous (who do they think they are--Disney?) So we came to the Discovery Center as a consolation visit. Still a drive from Sacramento, but the toddler was really excited, and that's all that mattered. Needless to say, there are A LOT OF KIDS. So many kids. And LEGO pieces. And beautifully assembled LEGO structures and landscapes. **Wear a mask and bring hand sanitizer!!** There are fun activity areas like the one where you build a vehicle and race it, the Ninjago "labyrinth" where parents can pretend to be Ethan Hunt while their kids run through the lasers anyway, and a short train ride. I would give 0 star if there is. My daughter go cashed by a boy there and have bone fracture on her arm. The small center was so crowded with many kids on Sunday and but no staff to watch and keep safety. They only care about the store and sale and assign staff there. The place where my daughter got crashed actually has three cameras around and each of them are 360 degree. When we ask for CCTV capture of the crash, they lie and saying seeing nothing or it's blind spot or it's not clear to capture. Each of them gave various excuses to refuse to provide the vedio. Obviously, they don't want to show us and get involved. Indeed, we just want to get the capture to show to the boy's parent and want them to say sorry. So far they still not say any sorry and take the responsibility. They are not at the scene when the boy in that field. They refuse to say sorry about it. Me and my wife were so pissed off. 1. The Center only cares about membership and sale of toys. They have high price annual package to sell but assign 0 staff to work on the playground to ensure the safety 2. I can see many of their staff are with tattoo on body. They don't show any kindness and smile when facing the kids. 3. I had a class with my daughter in their workshop. Actually, the teacher was not showing any smile and kindness to the kids. Instead, I can see a bit arrogance showing that only she know how to build the blocks and we guys all should listen to her. read more

If your kids are LEGO "master builders," this place would make a fun half-day trip. There's just enough stuff to do to comfortably spend about 3 hours, longer if you want to sit and build and build and build some more. My boys love LEGO and are 3 and 5 years old. This place was perfect for them. I could see it being good until 8 years old (probably 10 years max), before they'd phase out. My little baby was either carried or in the stroller throughout the day, and I could see this place being challenging with a young toddler, as none of the areas are super confining and there are lots of LEGO bricks at the building stations that they could access. We purchased our tickets online earlier in the week. Tickets were $23 online versus $26 in the store. In the purchasing process, they tried to get you to purchase a $5 activity pack and a VR experience ($5 also), which we opted no to. There was plenty of stuff for my kids to do without those experiences. The activity pack looked like a lanyard with a minifigure-shaped notepad of activities, just by looking at what some of the other attendees were carrying around. There is a gigantic giraffe made of Duplo LEGO bricks outside of the mall, which made for an impressive entrance. In the ticket line, you can see the one ride (a train ride with interactive laser shooters), which also adds to the appeal. This ride was our first stop, and my 3 year old was terrified by the periods of brief darkness on the ride, as well as the mist and overall unexpected noises and lights at every turn. It was actually very tame, but he hasn't been on many rides in his little life, and my 5 year old loved it. Everyone had their own laser wand, so it made for a fun competition. My kids loved the Laser Maze in the Ninjago area. Basically, lasers fill up a dark room and you have to crawl/make your way to the other side without getting touched. It's really quick, so any line that forms outside moves quickly. They have a pirate-themed play structure; it's like an old school McDonald's play place but cleaner. There is an employee monitoring the overall structure at all times. Only kids are allowed to play inside. It was a great way for the kids to get out some energy and to get to climb and explore. There was a special movie experience in the back. You have to purchase special tickets to access it. I didn't see many people entering that area, and I don't think we missed out at all. There was plenty of other stuff for my kids to do. The 4D movies that played every 20-30mins in the little theater were really fun. The kids enjoyed the 3D glasses and the wind and water were fun effects. The exit doors lead you right into a store (of course), which could be really exciting -- what a great way to end the day! Bring Legos home! -- or it could be disappointing -- the Lego sets were priced pretty high, and the available selection was extremely limited. I expected more from a store attached to the discovery center. It would also be fun if they had options to build your own minifigures. Alas, it's mostly very large and pricey sets, with a few small kits that seemed like overflow from a bigger store. My kids ended up with minifigure keychains and a Ninjago set. So would I come here again? Yes, but not more than once every 1-2 years. It's priced a little too high, and there doesn't seem to be enough to make it worth it. read more

I booked a birthday party for my son and was disappointed with the amount of time we had for the price we paid. We had picked the only time online 3:30pm and we're allowed 1 hour inside the room and they gift you a "build" for your kid keep in mind its around $850 and you get a $8 build... the host we're trying their best but I believe with the time they allow for cake pizza and interactions we skipped the entire workshops to have the kids play. They close at 5pm on the dot I was under the impression we would have at-least to 6-7 to hangout . Long story short $850 for 1 hour room a small Lego toy and 30 mins of fun for your kid. I'd suggest changing the time frame to at-least 2pm start time to give the guest enough time to enjoy the event. ( I truly do appreciate the host as they were really trying to help I could see the look on their face that they felt bad with the time we had ) read more

Took my oldest boy here on a Friday during summer break. It was pretty crowded with lots of summer camp kids running around, but I can only imagine how much more crowded it would be on a weekend. We have never been to Legoland in San Diego but I have been warned that this location is extremely tiny and just a little sliver of what Legoland attractions can offer. I'm glad for the warning because I definitely felt this place is very small given the admission price. I was able to utilize a discount so we did not pay full price, but I still felt a bit shorted. There is a mini train ride but not all the sound was working in the train cars! The 4D movie was pretty cool but some of the summer camp students were crying because they were scared and no one seemed to do anything to help them until another parent intervened. Overall, it was an average experience and I would only bring my 2 other sons if there was a massive discount! Lol! read more

Great place to bring young children. I have a 14 yo and a 7 yo and my little one really enjoyed our visit. He was absolutely awe-struck by the builds of SF monuments and landmarks. And it was really cool to see them change from morning to night views. My youenjoyed each activity from the tower build shake, laser maze, the ride, pirate ship playground and the 4D movie was his absolute favorite. My older son enjoyed it as accompanying his little brother around, mostly to help watch over him, so he wasn't as into it as his little brother. For teens this place is a little under their age group interests... But going as a family with older and younger children I feel is still a great opportunity for a family outing. Since we live in the neighborhood, we chose to purchase the annual pass. Which I think is an awesome deal if you plan on visiting at least once a month or more. Purchasing tickets and passes are done online. You also need to separately reserve a date and time for your visits, there is a tab to do this on their website under tickets and passes. Inside, I was happy to see a coffee shop that serves Starbucks coffee and lots of tables and seating available. The only thing we missed on our visit was the VR experience which is an additional $5, which we will most-likely try this out next time. The ride was what I was most disappointed in because it was really....slow and really...short. The Discovery Center as a whole was much smaller than I anticipated. It took us an hour to explore the entire place, so you could definitely spent a maximum of an hour or two here and be totally done. The staff and employees are nice and helpful. They just opened...so I know that they will have a lot of kinks in their processes to smooth out. But overall, I can say our first experience here was a positive one. Not super impressed by the fact that we have to pay $26 for each individual. Keeping in mind that there's absolutely nothing to do for the parents. They have to only enter to watch their kids. There are a lot of fun activities for kids and they can spend 4-5 hrs easily. But what will the adults do here? There's barely 1-2 rides that adults can enjoy with the kids. read more
