What kind of park has a zipline?!? THIS ONE. Two seating options, one with a harness for toddlers, the other for older kids (I even saw adults using this). The park also offers a fun and inclusive space for children, with climbing structures, sturdy cement slides, swings for both toddlers and older youth, a see-saw, merry-go-round, trampoline, and spongy material making up the ground's surface. The occasional squirrel, lizard, and butterfly too. As an adult simply looking for a place to relax while waiting for my car at an auto shop nearby, I was pleasantly surprised to find this park accommodating. Dirt and concrete trails weaving through the garden, lovely vegetation in spring, and a good amount of picnic tables and benches scattered throughout. Also, a shady area with fake grass and seats made out of smoothed-out logs and tree trunks, as well as adirondack chairs where I was able to hang out and nap while I was there. It wasn't too crowded or crazy on a Friday morning, though it got busier as it neared noon time. In addition, the place offers a parking lot and clean restrooms for convenience. read more

Visited Rotary Play Garden for the first time over MLK holiday, and it was packed! It makes me wonder if it is usually this busy or if it's because of the holiday weekend. The play garden has everything kiddos love -- slides, one seesaw, one round spinner, one rope climbing thing (that can also spin), swings (bucket and standard), small water play area, and a Zipline (one for little kids 3+ and one for older kids). They also have an area with tables, where someone was having a party (no idea if reservations are needed though). Expect to wait in line for a turn of the park is crowded. The play garden is fenced off from the rest of the park. They have a restroom on site. They have a small parking lot that is nearby the entrance of the play garden. I noticed some people parked on a smaller side street and walked over. I'm not sure what other parking options there are otherwise. We would return if we're in the area again and if it's less busy. It's a solid park and play area for those who live nearby. read more

Such a unique park! We stop by here every time we visit San Jose. It's feels like straight out of a children's book. It's huge and feels hidden from the rest of the world - and you get an occasional massive airplane flying overhead, which the kids love. Free parking, accessible playground, and convenient location! I took my kid to a playdate here and he loved it (2.5 years old). It's a great park for all aged with various levels of skill such as rock climbing, slides, swings, and water activities (though the water was off on a rainy day in April). It was very clean and though there are bathrooms, I didn't use them so not sure how clean those were. We went at 10 when they open and more kids arrived after 11 am. There are airplanes flying overhead every 10-20 minutes so it is perfect for those kids into planes. The only downside is the lack of shaded areas. This isn't particular to this park as most parks lack shade. It was cloudy the day we went but just be sure you take hats and sunscreen. The Marketplace shopping center is walking distance across the street with Target, Sprouts, & Trader Joe's. It's also a short drive to downtown San Pedro Square and SAP Center. read more

This is a modern playground in San Jose that has something for little kids and big kids. There are so many activities, including slides, swings, climbing walls, see saw, and zip line. The slides are concrete and are pretty slippery, but there's one for small kids, and one for big kids. The zip line is the coolest. There's a line that has a seat that little kids are strapped into, and another line that bigger kids just sit on a disk hanging from a rope. There are many different swing seats for different abilities. There are also a few covered sitting areas, which I think would be great for birthday parties. The place is pretty spread out, so parents need to be on their toes keeping an eye on their kiddos. A great, clean park and playground that's kid and parent approved. read more

We were regulars at this park for the fun play area they have build for young toddlers and kids. Climb up is a lot of fun for all ages. The only draw back we see is that there is absolutely no shade in this park. It can get insanely hot and humid and without any proper shade it is difficult to manage young kids as they can get sun burn fast. This park is nothing short of an absolute dream. Not only is it super inclusive... it's also super spacious, exceptionally clean and full of a variety of activities to play, imagine and grow! I recently had my 6yo nephew in town and I decided to take him to this park to burn off some energy. He was so excited upon our arrival, that he took off on a lap running around to see all the park had to offer, as he simply couldn't choose where to start! The sea saw and zip line were definite highlights for him... for me, I was happy there were so many kiddos around that he could interact with and make new friends. Also, there were many places to sit and take a break both uncovered as well as covered. Perfect for a small family picnic! Huge warning though! The cement slide is EXTREMELY slippery for kiddos and adults who are wearing athletic wear. I saw many a kid (and parents) get thrown from the bottom of the slide as they descended with great speed. Monitor your kid or advise them to use their shoes to slow down on their descent! All in all, this park is definitely top-tier and worth a visit if you have kids! read more

This park is so much fun for the entire family! Most parks are fun for kids but as adults it's hard to play with them. Not the case here. They have structures to accommodate all shapes, sizes and those with limitations. Everyone plays and has soo much fun here. There is plenty of areas to take breaks at as well - beaches, grassy area or around the structures. A major plus - clean bathrooms! The good: There are lots of cool playground structures here that are unique and unlike other playgrounds. They have slides built into the natural ground slope. There is a see-saw and stone sculptures of fishes and animals on the floor. I like the spacious layout and how the play area feels nestled in the small hilly space. The bad: I came on a day they were closed. Their hours are more narrow than the average public park and they have a gate that keeps it closed. The grassy hill area around it are ok for picnicking but it is on an incline. There's no shade in the playground area itself. The interesting: My one-year old enjoyed herself but it's more of a playground for older kids. The slopes are easy to trip on. There was construction going on around the outside of the park (park expansion?). You can see and hear planes fly by often. read more

Rotary is a playground located across the street from the Coleman target and shopping center. There is a decent amount of parking and usually open Thursday- Sunday. The park offers a wide range of play areas. There are concrete slides, swing, spider nets and a sand play area to name a few. There is a good split of items for kids under 2-5 as well as older. Also available are areas available for rent to use for parties and such. These are located towards the back and are fairly shaded. I also believe that the organization that owns these parks provides free weekly workshops and paid summer camps. Overall a beautiful park in a great location. My only complaint is that the airport is very close to this location and incoming aircraft come in fairly low and cause a lot of noise pollution. read more

This playground just re-opened last weekend, and is currently open Friday-Sunday 10-4. There are some features that remind me of the new Magical Bridge in Redwood City (though not as awesome) It's entirely padded and fairly spacious, there are some musical toys. The slides are made of stone, and placed on padded hilltops where there are also rock climbing steps. They do have one swing for children with disabilities. Unfortunately none of the baby swings were down for use, since they have every other swing tied up during the epidemic. It's also a neat spot since it's in the flight path toward the airport, so you can see the airplanes pretty close. The whole park is enclosed, and no pets are allowed. There are picnic tables in the back that are available to use (every other table taped off). Bathrooms are open. Currently they claim that there is a 60 guest, and 30-minute time limit, but no one was really enforcing it. Yes, there is a guy at the front gate, but they weren't counting admissions like they do at Magical Bridge. It was way overcrowded when I was there and will be why I won't be returning until post-pandemic! read more

This place is super fun. I would say for independent play, it's geared towards 3 and up as the slides can be pretty steep and fast where younger ones would take a tumble. There are slides, climbing structures, swings, a zipline, flat areas to picnic and airplanes roaring overhead. We went in the winter and didn't have need for shade so I'm not sure this place would be the best to visit in the dead of summer. read more

There's dedicated hours for this park as they close the gates at a set time. Love the "rotary" theme as many of the play equipment included climbing and spinning. There were also semi-inclined rock walls but on foam surfaces which my toddler was able to climb. The rock slides were fun, but just know they are a bit fast coming down. We love parks! We don't live in the area, but we're here for something else and my son needed to burn some energy so we found this park. During COVID, there aren't many options for kids so we've been to so many different parks. This particular one had limited hours, so we got there a little after 3 and stayed until they closed at 4pm. There is a person at the gate, I guess to make sure the maximum capacity isn't reached. There is sanitizer at the front, which was a huge plus. There are also bathrooms, which surprisingly wasn't as run down as I expected. There is so much for the kids to do. The huge concrete slides, swings, teeter totters, rock-climbing -- just to name a few -- had my child so giddy! All the kids were having so much fun and there were a lot of families there on a Friday afternoon, but everyone was super friendly. I wish we had more playgrounds like this in my city. Yes, there were homeless encampments around the area, but they were far away enough to not bother us. Everyone kept masks on and respected space and kept their distance. read more

This is one of the coolest playground parks I've ever visited. They have the nicest zipline! It's large and enclosed and very clean and modern. It's hours of entertainment for children! I can tell millions of dollars was spent designing and building this. one of the nicer parks in this area. It's got slides (concrete slides here), swings, spinning stuff, climbing stuff, pretty much a little of everything. There are grassy areas for children to run around. both my kids (6 & 3) really like this park. I like this park as well but would love it even more if there are more shades. It gets super hot in the summer. it's a great park for kids who love airplanes, you can see them upclose as the plane fly by to land on SJC. i also like that there's a stripmall across the street (which includes a Target) with plenty of restaurants so after a day at the park, can go across the way and have lunch! read more

Concrete slides! I guess every review pretty much talks about it. While not ideal, they are super fun. And even though I was wary and kept my eyes on my toddler all the while, she didn't get hurt and absolutely loved it! Park is pretty clean and still looks kinda new. Some cool and pretty unique play structures. It's more than enough to keep toddlers occupied for hours. Especially that trampoline style structure. There are a few benches for bored parents to settle down. The play area is suited for kids 3-6. Older kids might get bored after a while though. Must visit if your kiddo is less than 6. read more

We love this park! I have four kids 8-2 (one of which is autistic) and they all enjoy this park. They have a wide variety of slides, swings, different things to climb etc. They have some shade with picnic tables too! The coolest park is you can see the planes flying over head- very close so they look HUGE- so cool even for adults to watch! I love that it's gated and they have someone working the gate. Many parks I find a little stressful when there are homeless people hanging out. This park is very clean and well managed. Parking is super easy as they have their own lot. Across the street there is a great shopping plaza with target, trader how's, Michaels, different restaurants, nail salons etc The cons are the hours- it's only open Thursday-Sunday 10-4. But, if you can squeeze this into the work, school and sport schedule it is Defs worth a play date. read more

The first time I came here, I thought "dang this is a nice park!" everything is clean and will maintained and there's a ton of stuff to do! That was right after I moved up here from San Diego. Little did I know, these types of parks are common in south Bay and this one had no shade! They've since added a couple of shade things but there really isn't much stuff to do. It gets over crowded and once that happens, it's simply not very enjoyable. The area to run around is minimal because they have the perfect ratio of open area to activity to make sure there is a small amount and on top of that, things are starting to break. The xylophone structure is missing a couple of chimes and hammers. Still though, overall it's a nice park. Just not a perfect 5*one. read more

A decent sized place for the kids to play and it's free! There is also one guard watching so no trouble makers or homeless will walk in. Yes, the homeless problem is expanding, but at least not here. Rotary PlayGarden was built as an accessible playground and opened in May 2015. They have adventure packs that can be checked out by the park attendant (no charge!) that encourage children to explore the bugs and animals in the park. There's also a weekly (free) program for kids 3-6 years old, which teaches them about environmental science. Very cool! There's a private parking lot, but there aren't a ton of spots. There are bathrooms on site and one shaded picnic area; however, as others noted, most of the park is very sunny. I would avoid coming here on a hot day unless you want to get a tan! Make sure you bring hats and sunscreen for the little ones. I believe the water feature is turned off right now but I imagine the water area is very popular when it is available. read more

This is one of the best modern looking parks I have seen in San Jose. We took the grandkids of my boyfriend there and even myself (a kid at heart) had a blast running around chasing butterflies and preparing a picnic while they were playing. The design is very well done and has elements that induce to know more for the curious little minds (like those giant metal insects, mix of sculpture and toy that kids can manipulate so they can see them in motion. Lots of different playing spaces for different ages groups. For the helicopter parents out there...fear not. The floor is so cushioned that even if they will fall they will bounce back like a boomerang (oh those days of my childhood when we were not bulletproof against the playing elements!). Landscape wise, I really like how the flora is nicely done, kudos to the landscape artists, all the plants in lavender, lilacs and soft oranges are so inviting. I really like the fish clay sculptures painted, all around the fountain as well as the art in the bridge. Only downside of this park is that you have to count in no shade, be prepared for the sun accordingly. read more

We took our 10 month old to this park and it was a lot of fun.. There are a lot of things like rock climbing structures, big and small slides, seesaw etc. Older kids would enjoy a lot more than an infant as there is lot of fun stuff for them, My daughter was one of the younger kids and we stuck to the baby swings and some other equipment but she had fun just watching all the kids play.The floor is soft foam material which was great. There are cool sculptures and some other learning objects all around the park. It was a very windy and chilly day on that day, but the park was full of kids and it was difficult to find parking in the parking lot. Free parking and free admission. Open Tues- Sunday from 10am - 4pm. We will coming here more often in summer. read more

Was in the area during the holidays and since we're from Arizona was hoping that the kids could run around in a outdoor playground. We got there early and realized that they weren't open until 10 AM...I'm like for real, they're not opening until 10 AM?! It was gated and padlocked. After some discussion and googling I guess the reason for this is just the transients and homeless that are around that they can't stay open access. Disappointing that the area is like this...but given what I saw (tent cities) before I got to the PlayGarden, I wasn't surprised. If you're looking for an outdoor playground this isn't so bad (it's pretty cramped though but there's not many other options that are this clean etc.). I would just make sure that you plan on getting there later in the morning versus thinking you can take your kids for an 8 am activity to burn off some energy. read more
