Legumes Heating and Cooling was dispatched to my elderly mother-in-law's home through a referral from her home warranty company (AHS). Unfortunately, the service provided was extremely disappointing and, frankly, concerning. The technician left her heating system set on emergency heat and never contacted her with next steps or an explanation of what was done. There was no meaningful follow-up, and based on their recommendation alone, AHS denied her claim. To make matters worse, the unit was never thoroughly assessed, and the technician did not appear to perform a complete diagnostic before making conclusions that directly impacted the outcome of her warranty claim. My mother-in-law is an elderly, single woman, and situations like this highlight exactly why home warranty companies contract vendors--to protect homeowners who may not be able to advocate for themselves. Instead, she was left confused, without heat support, and without guidance. Lack of communication, incomplete assessment, and failure to follow up is unacceptable--especially when servicing vulnerable homeowners. I would not recommend this company, particularly for seniors or anyone relying on a home warranty process. read more

If you have American homeshield and are trying to get your A/C fixed don't accept to go with Legum's heating. My unit has been in the house for 25 years doing a great job and cooling the whole house. The first time the company came they told me that the unit is pretty old and it needs to be replaced but that's not what they putted in the report to American home shield. They said the unit is small and it's not a normal wear and tear and American home shield won't cover the replacement. I am left with no help after how many years paying my home-warranty. read more

My home warranty company sent this company out. The tech came out on 12/1 and was here for 3 minutes. Like actually three minutes. I have his arrival and departure on my ring camera. Was not very friendly. Said he could replace the part and needed to get approval from the warrnaty company and left. The warrnatly company called and said the tech stated that we were aware of the issue prior to the policy starting because the furnace "never would have worked" in its condition? Then tried to quotes us 9100$ for a new HVAC unit. read more

Chase was awesome, he took time to explain things, he very well knew what he was doing, and he was thorough after the repair to ensure that everything was working the way it should. This is the 2nd time our home warranty company has use Legum's Heating & Cooling. Both times (on 2 separate units, with differing issues), the techs have provide expedited, courteous, and skilled diagnoses of problems and repaired with parts they had in stock on the truck. First time was June 2023, upstairs AC wasn't Cooling, fixed right away! This time our heat went out in downstairs unit, thermostat too, downstairs was 55°, and I was afraid it would put too much strain on our upstairs unit, so lowered it to 69°. ​ Today, Danny arrived less than 24hrs after I submitted the service request to our home warranty company for the heat not working, along with thermostat issues. He diagnosed 2 separate issues & repaired them so quickly that my husband was able to get to work on time. I hope American Home Shield continues to use this company for Heating & Cooling repairs. read more

Earlier this year (2025) my home warranty company sent Legum's to my home to work on my HVAC because my heat stopped working. The technician did replace a part on the air handler so the heat started working again. During his visit, he told me the condenser outside was damaged and he didn't know how long it would last. I happened to go online and read his service notes and found out he not only said the condenser was damaged but he also said it was "beaten with an object." (This of course was a lie! I have been in my home for less than four years and I certainly did not go outside to beat and damage my own property.) So I called and complained but the customer service representative from the home warranty company said not to worry about it, they don't look at past notes. (I knew that was also a lie!) But this month the condenser stopped working and the home warranty sent another technician from Legum's. He was at my home for less than 10 mins and left. The home warranty contacted me and said my claim was denied due to the notes from Legum's stating that the condenser was "beaten with an object." I ended up asking the home warranty company to send another company for a second opinion. The second opinion company sent a technician who spent forty-five minutes to an hour at my home checking everything out and he was honest and said he did not see any damage to the condenser other than normal wear and tear so I was able to have the part on the condenser replaced by the home warranty company. However, I decided to have my entire HVAC replaced since it is old anyway and I was able to get a discount from the home warranty company for the part they would have replaced. I used the second opinion company to do the work since they were honest with great customer service. But my guess is that Legum's did not want to do the work because the machine was old so they just lied to get out of it. They were very strategic with their lies and planned in advance because they knew the condenser would eventually give out. Very, very sad! This was very stressful to have their technicians lie and say my condenser was "beaten with an object." I would never recommend Legum's Heating and Cooling to anyone. read more

I paid $100 service fee to have Legums Visit my house under a home warranty contract to repair a heat pump ( outside cooling fan NOT spinning. Inside unit working fine) .... They Mis diagnosed-my HEAT PUMP, said he could not repair heat pump until collapsed ductwork was repaired . THERE IS NO COLLAPSED DUCTWORK. I recalled the company to once again come back through my home warranty company to perform the repair to the HVAC. I had to spend an additional hour with the home warranty company, correcting this error and recall the company to do a proper job. Today, Legums supposedly could not get anyone to answer the door today even though I was 10 feet away from the front door... my dogs bark ferociously when someone knocks and even bark at windchimes. I took the entire day off work just to make sure it wasn't misdiagnosed again so I was home at the time of today's scheduled service call. Then they wanted to charge me an additional $100 missed service fee to come back to the house in addition to what I had already paid for THIER mis diagnosis. When I pushed back about the misdiagnosis, they said well they usually charge $120. Really? When I questioned the company further during a follow up I discovered this was the same company that came to repair another HVAC unit over a year ago (I have three original HEAT PUMPS in an old house) . In this instance, the technician only spent Five minutes at the unit, never open or closely inspected , and said it was dirty and therefore was not covered under warranty.. I got a second opinion it was repaired no problem , it had a bad 29 year old compressor original to the unit. Once again I'm getting a second opinion this time. I do not recommend using this company. they will not give me the service i deserve for your money they get from me in addition the money they get from the home warranty company. The repetitive nature of the way they inspect or should I say don't properly inspect systems is very suspect and has the appearance of being a " cash cow". read more

Danny came out immediately and took care of me and my family making sure that our AC and heating was working properly after the AC started blowing heat. he troubleshooted and ended up replacing the thermostat will educating me. Very impressed with Legum's heating & a/c. My a/c went out on a Tuesday. I called their office that night and left a message on their phone. At 07:00am the next morning they returned my call and at 08:10am that same morning, Technician Will arrived. He was very professional. I explained what the problem was. He immediately went to work on the outside. When he needed to come in and look at the main unit in the attic, he took his shoes off. Shortly there after, he let me see the part of the unit that was defect. Replaced the part and the unit is running beautiful. Thank you Technician Will for doing such a great job! read more

They charge $1800 for 10 pounds of R410a refrigerant. Thats no labor to install it, just refrigerant, and you can buy a 25LB tank of it for around $800. Should be charging me only a few hundred dollars for the 10 pounds I need, since AHS should be paying for all labor and parts. The labor Legum's claims to install/recharge labor would be paid by AHS (American Home Shield). If work was attempted not through AHS, I would use my regular HVAC company, who would charge me $2100 for part, labor, and refrigerant. Why would I pay Legum's $1800 for just refrigerant? Apparently, they have huge markup on this product. When I called my regular HVAC company, 10Lbs of refrigerant was only $200-300 of the bill; which falls in line with what a 25LB tank of it costs. AHS offered me $235 cash in Liu instead of using Legum's, which is probably what they pay Legum's; so they pass the all the shortfall onto the customer. Why do I have a home warranty since they will pay nothing to fix this. If Legum's' wants to stay in business, they need to stop doing work for AHS as this just ends in bad review and upset customers. On top of that, they want to charge $300 for locking caps (from what I read, to prevent drug heads from sniffing refrigerant), this again, I can buy these caps online for $30, and not pay $300. Not once has my regular HVAC company mentioned locking caps, and maybe this would be code/required when home is sold. but trying to add this onto a bill that has nothing to do with repair at hand complicates things which warranty company (which they denied paying anyway), and conveys an unnecessary money maker add-on like a bad car dealership. UPDATE Oct 3. Had AHS send a different company out after complaining, and complaining, only $810 to repair out of my pocket, and no $300 caps add-on. Saved $1290 over Legums. So proved my point. read more
